Most UA-camrs post "tips" that are obvious or just rehashes but you actually gave me 2 ideas I'll immediately use. Also love how short and to the point your videos are. I'm joining to say thanks and please keep it up.
and for even more functionality with your egress window you can drill holes for a pin at various points along the metal arm so you can lock the window open at various points, eg just open an inch to get a little fresh air in.
The RV back-flush technique, which I've used for years, also works to help unblock a blocked black tank. Close the Valterra valve at the end. Open both the black and gray tank valves. After they equalize (I usually just count to 10) open the Valterra valve and THEN close the gray valve. A siphon is created in the black tank, sucking the gunk out of the black tank. With a full gray tank you can usually do this back-flush 2 or 3 times.
Thanks Jerad - I LOVE the lag bolt idea - sometimes packed gravel is too hard to hammer a "tent peg" into - I've bent/broken a bunch of them. - Cheers!
Great ideas again! I would only add that putting a small tag or piece of material on the end of the clip to make it easier to grab and pull out. When seconds count it could make the difference in an emergency. Love the channel.
Thanks, we have actually had the bedroom window come open going down the road and I used your idea of a velcro cable wrap. I like the clip!! I actually installed the Valtera end valve the first time I saw it and as you've said it brings peace of mind anytime I dump. I have never thought of the back flush and thats a great idea. I won't be the guy at the dump station holding up the line and many hydrants at dump stations have short cut off hoses that won't attach to the black tank flush necessitating taking that hose off and put my hose on just taking more time. Thanks again !!
I’ve said for a while that I wish there was a valve I could pull that would send the gray tank into the black tank! It would make flushing the black tank WAY easier and more effective and efficient!
Thanks so much, Jared--we've had troubles with that egress window latch both in our camper and now in our fifth-wheel, and have tried putting tape around it, a rubber band, but nothing made us feel completely secure about it. I think we're going to try your cotter-pin idea for sure! Thanks again, and please keep these coming!
Thanks for the helpful tips Jared. Just ordered a gate valve to try the quick backflush idea. Definitely going to use the pin in the window arm trick. Be much simpler than the rubber bands were using now. Thanks again!
Love the idea of using lag bolts for the carpet, but I would have used a small quick release pin instead of a goofy cotter/R pin for the emergency exit… The quick release pin will only require one hole, and would probably be easier to remove in case of emergency..
I backflush my black with the gray water by simply raising the flex line above the level of the tanks. It involves no hardware added. I do this two or three times on each dump. I check to make sure I have a good connection before I dump. And make my hose as long as I can before hand to make sure it moves in the direction I want. I've not had a problem with anything coming loose, which could happen in any event.
I am currently in transition from an off-road pop up, to a 27' travel trailer, but many of the places I still anticipate spending time are not amenable to tent stakes or screws. I have two pieces of artificial turf that I overlap by approximately 12" and park my wheel on them both. The front and rear ends of each respective piece are then extended beneath the stabilizer jacks/jack pads, and this then completes the trailer side of the turf. The outer center edge is usually held down by a large dog water bowl, and large rocks are used at the corners. Just have to watch your step on those late night potty trips. 😆
You can use another fuse to remove the fuse in the panel. Take another fuse hold it vertically, you will notice a the blade is more narrow near the body, this will slide over the body of the other fuse allowing you to pull it out.
Like the idea of the twist on valve. Just checked Valterra site from your like and it is $38.39. Checked the same T58 valve on amazon and it is $20.32. I know where I will buy mine. Thanks!!
Has anyone come up with a product that limits the distance that this window can open? It would be nice if you could lock it open about an inch or two for a little air flow. Great video as usual!
How did you get your black tank extended to the edge of the RV. you don't have to connect the host inside the wet bay and i want that too. Thanks Phillip
They make them with the normal 4 prong attachment. So goes on as easy as connecting a hose. It will spin free so a wrap of duct tape once you get it in the right orientation is a good idea. Otherwise its a bit of a pain to remove the hose having to hold the gate and twist the hosr off. They also make a glue on version, but think removeable one is better.
1:29 the rig is a 2008 heartland 3712 toy hauler I purchased from the original owner in 2012 everything ran fineI believe you're an electrician I my bathroom lights went out and the ceiling light and a cabinet light the cabinet light has its own switch and then the ceiling light has a wall switch we checked you know we are replaced the switch training off with a good switch nothing no no no no no no no light we replace a suspect breaker and no breakers are fuses have been tripped any idea what else to search
Super confused over you using the gray tank water to flush the black tank if you could go over that again or send me a message that would be wonderful. Any tips from anybody?
I do this every time. Soap is good for the black tank. 1. Empty Black tank but don't close it's valve. I also have an internal flush that I leave running the whole time. 2. Close end valve (Valtera add-on). 3. Open Gray tank. I can hear the water rushing around, or just count to 10. 4. Close Gray tank. 5. Open end valve. If you have a clear section you can see how brown the water is. 6. Repeat as desired.
I have always wondered why, people use the dump station, when if you are at a full hook up site, you can back flush your tanks ,both black and grey ,right there. Job done ... That is how I have done for years with the Camco tank flush valve. Am I wrong for doing that at the camp site?
Watching your video as you were talking about the leveling equipment I have never seen the one that you rolled up on

What an awsome tip on the anchor screws! Love the quick wins. Thank you
I've been using the lag bolt trick for a few years now. It works great. Thank you for the video.
The gold standard of RV tips, tricks, must haves and maintenance. Good job.
and for even more functionality with your egress window you can drill holes for a pin at various points along the metal arm so you can lock the window open at various points, eg just open an inch to get a little fresh air in.
Great ideas. One more for you. Add a third hole to the window handle for a lanyard for the pin so you don’t loose it.

Pretty proud that I actually know/use one of these tips.
You always do a great job explaining and showing!!👍
Jared, again you knocked it out of the park! I love your videos Thank you again!
I’ve done my sewer tank that way for years. thanks. Nice video. Good job. Have a great day. God bless.
R clip for the window latch is genius.
Thank you, Jared, I really like the 4 inch threaded bolt idea for holding down the carpet outside.

I am not an RVer but will be nomading in an SUV. I have gleaned quit a few tips from your vids. Appreciate your content. Hitting the road in spring.
I’ve said for a while that I wish there was a valve I could pull that would send the gray tank into the black tank! It would make flushing the black tank WAY easier and more effective and efficient!
Now you have a way!

Thank you for these tips. I’ll try all of them next spring when I put the rv back into service.
Very informative video Jered, really like pin idea on the window arm.
Bravo, bravo... I am going to do all of these. Thank you for sharing!
I like the lag screw idea. I will definitely use that! Thanks for the video👍🏻
Brilliant Jared! Love the gray/black tank trick.

I thought the exact same thing! But do love this tip as I just replaced a broken sliding window with one of these exit windows.
I had similar concerns about the pin. From all reports (glad never needed to) you may have seconds to get out that window, while sleepy and panicking.
That's the benefit of brainstorming. One idea triggers the thought processes which can improve on the first.
Love the window tip! Thanks!
Lag bolt is nice. If you want a cheaper version my family just stuck the stake through a bottle cap.

We call that extra valve the "No Surprises Valve "!
Great video, really liked the black tank flush idea. Thanks
As always, GREAT video! Thanks for sharing! 🎥….❤️🔥
We use rubberbands to hold the windows closed. Also works to help keep cabinet doors closed.
Great tips, Thank You

just after dumping take the add-on off the rig so it does not fall off or brake the factory piping.

Thanks for this video and the tips!👍
Been using lag screws 4 years but now use deck screws a lot cheaper and work just as good
Thanks for sharing
I always test with grey water first and finish it off with grey as well.
I use rocks! Work really good! 😅

Good information
👍for the video! A Black Friday / Cyber Monday RV specials video would be nice :)
Thank you!

Another great video Jared.
Crazy question, what’s the thing with hexagons? I’ve noticed their use has multiplied exponentially the past four years.
Probably because people are realizing that Hexagons Are The Bestagons (search it)
Hello, kind regards, please can you help me by recommending a GPS for RV that can be used for many outdoor activities?
cool.
Did you make that waste valve permanent? screwed or glued on?
They make them with the normal 4 prong attachment. So goes on as easy as connecting a hose. It will spin free so a wrap of duct tape once you get it in the right orientation is a good idea. Otherwise its a bit of a pain to remove the hose having to hold the gate and twist the hosr off.

I tried glue but now put small screws both to secure and to stop the spinning.

Really bad idea to run your grey water into your black tank. Too much risk of black water ending up in your grey tank.
