I have the same model amp Doyle used in the 90's, it's basically Ampeg's version of a hot rod jcm800. Which is funny because he says he hates Marshalls but the amp is literally a JCM800 with an extra gain stage and a mid frequency selector. He also used Greenback speakers during that era. His cabinets are based on the Ampeg V2 cabs from the 70's, they're like two oversized 2x12 cabs with porting bolted together. The cab itself is as tall as a Marshall halfstack 😂 his custom ones are basically the same thing but bigger I believe.
I love those Lee Jackson Ampeg VL heads. Ampeg also made single channel versions without mid selector (VL-501 and VL-1001). There are also Lee Jackson XLS-500 and XLS-1000 amps that are extension of Ampeg VL series, basically VL-502 and VL-1002 with all tube fx loop, no reverb and clean channel with more headroom. VL's have some issues but can be easily fixed
I saw a rig rundown, where he talks about his cab being a 4x12 he designed, basing it off another cab he owned. He only said he had celestian speakers so I still don’t know which one he uses in them, but I feel it’s more along the lines of a greenback. Still sounds great with the 8x10 though
@@BlackbridgeGearDemos I have every piece of equipment doyle uses, me and my dad took photos of his rig every time hes come near me, i can send you pix of doyles rig and my rig if you want... I know his entire signal chain, the only piece of gear i questioned was the speakers up until bruce told me.
I’m thinking about buying Amplitube 5 Max, but I have 2 questions. Firstly, what did you use to hook up your guitar to your computer? And secondly, was there any other additional content in Amplitube you needed to purchase before getting the Famous Monsters tone?
I have an old audio interface that came with my DAW “propellerhead reason”. So you just need a audio interface and it don’t need to be expensive it can be very cheap and still do the work for you. When you buy Amplitube 5 Max you get everything that amplitube has to offer, so no you don’t need to buy additional content to get the tone😁

Yeah, for this tone i did not focus on using the exact gear. I just wanted it to sound as close as possible with what i have available:)
His tech bruce told me in an instagram post doyles used a mix of greenbacks and v30s over the years
@@jakobsteve7504 did he tell you anything more?
