- Hell-O!
Today i’m checking out a Ampeg VT-22 from 1972.
And i’m trying to achieve the classic tones from Queens of The stone age, mostly Josh Homme’s tones.
I hope that you will like it as much as i do!

I bought one of these in early 1975 when I was 18 and working at a carwash in my last year of high school, Rock and Roll dreams! 100 watts through two Altec Lansing speakers and weighing in at 83 lbs. More power than I ever needed.
I certainly wish now that I had chosen a Fender Princeton Reverb, 12 watts, a 10" Jensen, weighing in at 34 lbs, and has Tremolo! I didn't even own a car at the time to transport that monster. A great amp for the large live stage!
Loving that sound man, good review
Sounds killer dude.
Fantastic video - brilliant playing and tones! Loved the fuzz also - sounded amazing with the humbuckers and VT22. Thanks!
Thank you so much!:)
I grew up with an Ampeg VT-40, (4x10's). This brings back memories. Mine needed pedals as well. It had a bit of fuzzy gain. I never really loved the amp, but remember it being able to get loud. Nostalgia.
That’s awesome!
QOTSA=instant subscribe. Love this amp, thank you for sharing 🤙
Thank you so much!😊
The Piano Bar Music in the background makes a cool athmosphere.I wanted to go to sleep, but now I gonna make me a drink and listen to the first QOTSA Album(on Headphones of course,my neighbours are sleeping).
That sounds awesome, cheers!
I have a pair of V-4's 100 watt amps.
Ampeg did make a 300 watt head, designated SVT
The 100 watt amps have 4 power tubes, I believe the SVT's have 6 power tubes.
Great amps! Very BRIGHT! through 4X10 or 8X10 cabs
300 watts is the power consumption - 100 watts is the output
Yeah i noticed that after i made the video haha!
I loved this amp , only sold it because it was INSANLEY LOUD . it was more than 120 watt sinus output on the meter ...
wasn't it rated at 120 watts RMS?
Great vidio and Great tones Man!! I have the VT-40 And V-4. Both Heads. Woud be great if you can tell me the Speakers in Your Amp!!
PS would lote to hear a Shin-Ei Super FUZZ thru your Rig!!
Rock on Mate From AUSTRALIA!!
Thank you so much! Awesome to hear that you have a Ampeg VT-40, i will buy one of those some day!
I can check what speakers i have when i get home from work, and i will put the super fuzz on my list for future videos!
300 watts is probably the current it draws to produce its power.
Yes i noticed that after i was done shooting the video haha
what is that brown guitar in view, it looks absolutely glorious man!
It could be the Gibson ES-335S Firebrand, if your looking at a double cut style guitar.
yeah, I noticed that too
Are the original speakers in it?
Yes
Did you unlock the reverb?
No i have not even seen that function so thank you!
And mine is a 1976
The sound is very far from the QOTSA sound... They don' t use fuzzes on the main riffs, but ovedrives.
Yes i know! But apart from the fuzz the rig is almost identical to Josh Homme’s rig.
It’s 100 watts
Okey thanks for the info:)
