New Wheels and Bilstein Front Lift Kit for our VW Amarok!

- After a lot of swear words, our VW Amarok is now jacked up using the Bilstein B6 Front Lift Kit and Rear Dampers.
To finish off the look we fitted some super wide staggered BMW X5 wheels wrapped in new General Grabber AT3 tyres. Full specs below.
(Don't worry the rolling radius is the same so won't cause quattro issues)

Aye big respect for leaving the struggle clips in. Makes us amateurs at home feel way better! I spent a couple of hours on Saturday making similar noises at a turbo oil feed pipe 😂. Cracking vid as always gents

Paint front VW badge and V6 badge in body colour. All the other badges in matte black. Rear amarok badge centred like W580.
I would recommend fitting a delta body lift kit so you don't end up wearing holes in the front fender liners when your axles get fully articulated.
I think we will leave alone now, it wont see any hard offroading.
Those looked smaller than 20 inch.Looks cool.
Warm the arch liners up, easier to manipulate back into position.

Possibly need some arch extensions. Make your own out of ally then powder coat/spray to colour.

That spring compressor looks half posh... I like to use the wind down ratchet / impact spring compressors just to add a bit of excitement to the job... You never know when they might slip and take an ear off

Yep, inner guards are a chit, replacing my washer motor on my rok took me the good part of 2 hours, back and forth.. 🤬

It looks great. I just wonder if the transfer case will have premature ware due to the different wheel size in re rear ? In my 4motion I switch tires font to back every oil change to try to help transfer case and avoid damage . Am I right?
I'm sure that's good practice, these are pretty close to the same OD but I would go square if I do this again so I can rotate like you suggest.

Great Video! I'm trying to fit a 285/45/R22 tyre on my amarok, is it OK to do it without lift kit and with just stock suspension?
We haven't fitted that size before so not sure but it would also depend on the offset

Get a diff drop in or you will have CV problems. Maximum lift on the front in 25-40mm or 565mm from center of wheel to flares. With a diff drop it will be fine.
Who makes the V6 diff drop?

Hey guys I was going to fit a set of snowflake wheels to my Amarok but was told by doing so with the spaces on the front will only cause vibration but if this wasn’t the case when you did the upgrade can you let me know what size spacers you went with or was there vibrations. Cheers Brian.
If you look at our spacers you can run 30mm+ without vibrations
Hi Andrew, it looks like you haven’t used spacers for the rear but the front you have used 15mm spacers, I don’t do any real 4 wheel driving 90% is highway driving an my camping off road is dirt roads so I think the clearance on the front will be enough. The snowflake rims look awesome. Do you recommend a brand of spacers or are the much of a muchness. Cheers. Brian.
Would you say if i don't do heavy towing I wouldn't need a diff drop with the 50mm lift?
You might get away with it, they are coilovers so you can drop it a touch if they click
600hp A5 faptime when? BTW the Aussie market Amarok rwd single cab you showed in a sheet in one of the previous videos is something I'd really love to have.

After having the wheel and tyre set up for a length of time would you recommend this set up I’m looking at the same rims this week I want to beef my Rok up and think this is as big as I can go without body lifts etc
Yeah, were still running same set up today. It's done it's job and been great for towing heavy loads

Does 50mm front lift level the Amarok out if I've got a winch bullbar on standard front suspension?
Not quite level but if you go level it drives funny loaded!

You didnt need to remove the inside guards :). There is a video from toughdog 4x4 showing the amarok how to remove front strut
I'll check it out, we have to do the camber top bushes to bring the camber into negative values when lifting anyway!
any issues running a staggered setup with the traction control, ESC etc?
They are super close in OD and we have the occasional TCS flash when turning fast

Ado guys. I'm going to order a set of front lift on Friday would you have adjusted the lift before fitting thr strut if you did it again? And how much did you lift it buy in the end?

Nice one. I'd set it at the lowest to give the CVs a fighting chance! When towing I can max them out so we are doing a diff drop.
Thing is I have 35mm suad spacers and they have ruined the ride. The truck drives vile now but I do want it level.
I never tow so Hopefully if I set it at around 30mm I should be OK right.?
The shocks will be topping out. Mine rides perfectly.
But surely if I set them at the lowest the truck will still have a nasty nose down look? How to we get it level?
Lower the rear, the CV are maxed out a few mm higher than ours in this video and the bottom arm out of range. All IFS trucks are the same

In off-road mode? That's why you do a body lift so you can drive around in auto mode and all the alignment can be brought into spec. Mine has 0.5 negative in normal but positive when higher.

I could do a big bore upgrade complete with cylinder head and piston on a dirt bike in the shop then spend twice as much time swearing at the plastics.

@@DarksideDevelopments I have an Amarok 2.0bi turbo highline and the stock suspension is back breaking. Is there a good set to keep the height and make it comfortable to ride in?
Currently I've got old man emu front struts on my V6 rok to correct the ride height, with an ARB steel bullbar. The ride is pretty horrible though. How's the ride with the Bilsteins you put on, and would they be able to handle the weight of my bullbar?
Ride is firm but perfect

It won't be 100% Level but with the Air suspension you won't ever be lower at the rear.

Yo yo need to have a tachograph if you're running over 3.5t for business use, this includes any trailer, so yes, a 3.5t van towing a 750kg trailer needs an O licence and a tachograph
We don't tow for hire or reward ;)

also heard you need a seperate licence to tow a trailer, dunno if any grandfather rights apply to older licence holders?
Would ask a copper but the ones round here think rear window tints are illegal, so clueless lol
@@upsidedown4155 to tow above 750kg you need B+E category on your license you either have this if you are old as shit or taken an additional test

@@olivergunn2796 just had a look it said something about if licence after jan 97 you can do heavier trailers then 750kg if it dont exceed the MAM at 3.5t, and nice to know 41 is old as,
