- The Sony ICF-506 AM FM portable radio is a solid performer on the medium wave band due to it's high quality 4 3/4" internal ferrite antenna. The DSP can be a bit tricky to tune, but with practice this radio can be very rewarding to the operator.

The radio also responds well to a passive loop during the daytime hours.
I enjoyed revisiting this radio, the audio is great and the form factor makes for an easy transport. For tunes on the go, and rocking at home this radio is hard to pass up. That is the Sony fanboy in me talking. Buy this radio if it's around the $40 price point, any higher and you may want to consider a digital offering by Sangean.

Sony super radio prijemnik. Ja kupio "SAL" 4band. FM, AM, SW1, SW2. kopija od Sony. Ima USB, BT, i ugrađenu malu NMH bateriju koja može trajati do10 sati. Jedino je BT dobar. Cijena ,,€U 25.⁰⁰. FM band katastrofa. SW1 i SW2 zadovoljavaju.
I regret getting the icf-19 over this model , just because it doesn’t have a power port ,even though is been a year with the same battery inside the icf-19, great battery life
I have noticed that the 19 is slightly better acoustically. It has a deeper cabinet. There is a lot of extra room in that enclosure so a DC input jack could be wired in. Just ideas :)
I went for the ICF-19 due to its use of "D" cells and lower cost to boot. DX on batteries is the way to go!
@@todderbert I was thinking of wiring in an 18650 holder... but, yeah, a little 5.5x2.1 jack would be cheap and easy to put in. Could _probably_ power it off a USB-to-coax cord, too, albeit some power banks do generate AM hash. Some really don't, though, not unless it's less than a foot away.
The flush handle design makes this radio too thick for no apparent good reason.
It may look thick, but it's the same as the ICF-19, and 1/4" thinner than the Panasonic 2400D. I think it's the big speaker. Sangean has some thinner options.
