Good comparison. The Sony is more modern in design and has a bit more finesse than the Panasonic, but then it typically costs about twice as much. If you focus on performance versus price, the Panasonic wins easily as it is equal in quality to the Sony for much less money. I also like the old skool design of the Panny, looks like it landed straight from the 1980s.
Thanks for sharing your experience but the cost of Sony is not as twice as much as the Panasonic.
@@ToolsElectroDIY In the UK the RRP of the Sony is £59, the Panasonic is £29.99. Same story in the EU, the Sony is a much more expensive unit.
@@paulc9588 luckily in the US it’s more affordable. Get both! Haha
Not really, in terms of performance the Panasonic is better at a lower price !

man its crazy the feeling i get when listending to fm audio it has a distinct pitch and energy that cant be recreated..... brings back so much nostalgia
yes! I love FM radios!
Great review
Thank you 🙏🏾
My pleasure!. Smash the like and subscribe button thanks!
Thank you so much!
GREAT comparison and very helpful.
Thanks for your support! Smash the like :)
Sony produces a classic sound that we know from childhood.
yes
Which one has better AM reception? And in sound quality, which one do you think is better? Best regards
Can’t tell the difference
Can you review an Hd radio 📻 like the insignia hd radio
Yes I can. I have the Sangean HDT-20 amzn.to/3Z3Dd9J which is a large HD radio tuner. Please stay tuned!
Prefer the design of the Sony with the volume control but after the best one that gives the best reception for radio stations with very narrow bands.
yes thanks for sharing
thanks for this. I'm looking for a basic radio for my mom. It seems that for elderly the Panasonic seems better...
Sounds great go for it!
Good. Thanks. Just got the Sony one.
Great!
Aesthetically the Panasonic, also the price. Panasonic, in this comparison.
Thanks for sharing your opinion
Який із них краще приймає FM?
English pls
@@ToolsElectroDIY which of the radio's receives FM better?
@@serhiyvedmid1776 the same
Is it available in India?
I don't know. check India amazon?
I have a doubt on this comparison.
Sony I'm afraid is a DSP tuner radio, while Panasonic that you are comparing is 2400D (Analogue).
Panasonic 2400DD is a DSP version of the same model
It would be fair to compare Apples and Oranges I guess.
An ideal comparison would be between Panasonic 2400D vs Sony ICF10
simple answer: I don't have that model.
Nah, the Panasonic reviewed in this video exhibits the tell-tale choppy tuning of a DSP tuner.
@@nooneinpart You're right. I can see the D mark on the Panasonic Radio.
The Nalogue version does not have that D on the radio
Thanks for the clarification
The RF-2400D also has a glow in the dark dial tuning scale, the Sony does not ! The volume dial on the RF-2400D is great if you want a set volume without having to fidget around every time you turn the radio on which is great if you don't want to wake people up when you turn it on.
Good to know obviously I didn’t use it in the dark. Thank you for the info.
Honestly with a speaker that big
Panasonic can easily give it Bluetooth speaker
right
They should make more 1.5v (1x AAA) powered radios. And make them to be powered by radio signals. Huge waste of materials and energy.
I agree
Crystal Radio.

The dealbreaker here is that the Sony stubbornly uses 3 AAs, whereas the Panasonic wisely uses 4 AAs. Here is why:
I hate it when any device uses 3 AAs; stores don't sell packs or 3 AAs, they sell packs of 4 AAs. So you use 3 batteries and what are you going to do with the 4th one? Sometimes you can find a pack of 6 AAs, but that's still not ideal.
If you use Rechargeable batteries it's even worse. Many chargers do 2 or 4 AAs at a time, but won't charge uneven numbers. If you stick 3 batteries it will charge the first two but not the third. It's a mess. Newer charges can charge individually but you have to be careful to find the chargers that can do that. Still, if your device uses 3 batteries, what are you going to do with the 4th one? the first 3 rechargeables will be wearing out faster.
It's ideal for your device to use 1, 2, or 4 AAs, but never 3. That way you can make full use of all your batteries, disposable or rechargeable. So I'd buy this Panasonic radio over the Sony.
The advantage of 3 aa or aaa batteries is that you can easily convert the device to use a single 18650 li-ion battery with 3.6v nominal voltage. It could also mean Sony could potentially release a radio that runs on a builtin rechargeable lithium battery.
@@ToolsElectroDIY hmm… that’s another thing I don’t like: proprietary rechargeable batteries. 10 or 15 years forward and it will be impossible to find replacement. If that’s all your device uses then your device might as well be dead.
On the other hand, standard replaceable/rechargeable AA batteries are never going to go out of style. Devices that use them can truly last.
No short wave. :(
No shortwave radio stations :(

What❓
No SW stations❓
I get plenty of stations where I’m at.

@@jeffking4176 I mean less and less shortwave stations. It's pretty clear in the video title those are FM AM radios.
Why fm comparison??
Why not?
Не мешало бы ещё рассмотреть модель Филипс TAR 2506, он как раз примерно одинаковый по размеру и функционалу с этими, да и в цене также практически одинаков. Определяюсь между этим Филипсом и данным Панасоником для покупки
English please.
@@ToolsElectroDIY It would be appropriate to compare the Philips TAR 2506. It has the same dimensions and price. I am faced with a choice: either the Panasonic given in the video or this Philips.
@@user-xj1ut4fy4n I don’t have the Philips radio

Sony ICF-9600 good❤
Why do you prefer the Sony one?
Sony the best item.
Why
Sony original 😊😊
yes
The Sony sounds like a tiny transister radio... I thought we were technically past that inferior sound... Panasonic not much better, but is less harsh-sounding.
it's ok
Panasonic is more crisp
Got the Panasonic on the way because it's half the price and gets better reception, it has analog tuning and not digital tuning.
Awesome I’m glad you like it too
@@flynnstone3580Don’t kid yourself, Panasonic doesn’t have analog tuning. All new models have it digital.
Where are these radios made ?? Never mentioned in reviews. China makes junk as far as I'm concerned.
China. And probably your phone and my iPhone are also made in China.
