All of this is extremely attainable. I’m not particularly great at video games but I decided I wanted to learn to speed run this game with my goal being sub 30. Within about 40 minutes I managed to learn the rudimentary slide hop(I’ve been calling it slide flip though because it sounds nicer) and made it all the way to the halfway point in the run where you get the key in belly. But holy shit, if your slide flips are not up to par you’re gonna have a rough time. It took just over two hours just for me to grab the key once, nailing that ultra off the tiny platform was absolutely wrecking me. And then I died on my way back to the theatre. So I got to practice belly key again and I got it much faster, within 15 minutes or so. Getting up that corner to the middle switch in theatre is kicking my ass, bbt now that I know about Coyote Timing to force ultras I’m gonna practice that
I also have a guide on the underbelly key including a much easier route for your runs until you nail that coyote ultra in practice! Theres also an easier strat for the room in theatre! You can flip up to the doorframe and then backflip>glide from there. Just keep practicing and you'll be sub 15 before you know it ;)
@@paceproxy yes so I’ve actually been practicing in that room with the block on the chain and the gem to save at. I’ve noticed that the block was roughly the same size as the small platform in belly so I have been practicing coyote ultras off of that, and also using it to practice wall runs. This room is great because it is right before belly and I always hit that checkpoint on the way anyway, just in case I die in belly. And it’s funny that you say that about the arch in theater because that’s actually how I managed to get it consistently. Right now my biggest hurdle is just nailing coyote ultras and making the gate clips more consistently. I just posted my first run today and I was able to pull a 30:33, very happy with my first full run.
Hey this is a really great resource you've put together. I've been running low% and this goes over basically everything needed for the category, aside from the clips (which aren't really movement tech in the first place) (EDIT: neat, you've made a video for those too). Everything is really well explained, and the input display is appreciated. I particularly appreciate the detailed explanation of glide bunnyhopping; I've been using it in my runs, but I had no idea how to actually get it to work, so I'd just mash jump and slide and hope for the best. Now I can start to get it at least somewhat consistently. Thanks for this!
Thank you so much for this! I'm trying to learn how to do the ultra slidehops (read the comments and saw the solar wind ability messes it up :( so I might have to skip that one lmao) and I've been inconsistent with slidehops in general but slowly getting there!! I also noticed, for some reason that when I turn the retro framerate off I am able to do it more consistently so if anyone else is having a hard time with a higher fps (I'm at 144) maybe you can turn that off or toggle it down like Proxy said in one comment :- ) Looking forward to more Pseudoregalia videos from you! This was super helpful to learn movement tech in this game for early game! ^_^
I don't know if it's just me, but with the new update, the ultrahops (with golden trails) are replaced with a singular blue trail when performing them. also, is it just me, or do they not give as much height as before ?
regardless of it being "outdated" the mechanics of how to execute these tricks is still helpful unlike some other videos i've seen on this topic. I won't name people but the video I came here from about Slide hops was useless by comparison.
I haven't played the game in months personally, so it's cool to see that these guides (which I though would be obsolete) are still helping players out! Thanks for leaving a comment!
I will have a guide out at some point for movement with all abilities. This one covers just slide and cling gem since that’s all you get in any%. Solar wind actually messes up slide cancels and related tech. You can still ultra by solar winding and then backflipping right as you hit the ground. Or you can cancel your solar wind with a kick for some fast bunny hopping.
maybe that's a new game update but I can't perform ultrahop jump cancel. She's just slide-jumping no matter in what direction, it works only on stairs where I really can do a slide cancel idk I can do it after slide jumping but not cancels
Whatever i do if i try to slide chain she just jumps. Slidehops also seem not to work for me at all just backwards, i dont know what i am doing wrong when i am pressing the same keys in the same sequenz.
Yep! The inputs should be back -> forward -> jump. If you're having trouble, remember you can slow the video down or go frame by frame with the keys and look at the inputs!
it could be your fps. 144fps glides are super inconsistent. try 60-70fps. (I think 62fps is the ideal for some reason) and if it isnt that, just try to experiment with the timing. if you're on controller, it might be worth rebinding slide to a face button or bumper, as timing stuff with triggers can be tricky. best of luck!
i had a lot of help from this video but, one thing still confuses me out of "slide hop" you said to cancel the slide, "hold back and jump about halfway thrue" you then say for ultras" the faster you do this" what, the faster you reach the middle of her slide?
Thanks for the question! A couple of things seem to go into getting an ultra. The first important thing seems to be the timing between when you're able to cancel, and when you actually cancel. Let's say as an example that the slide can be cancelled at a minimum of 4 frames after you input slide (this is not the case, just an example number). Then ideally you would want to cancel it as soon as possible. Like frame 4, 5, or 6, etc. That's the main "fast" I'm talking about. But also these inputs in general are pretty fast/tight. So it's also about how fast you input your direction and second jump after your initial slide cancel because the less time sybil spends in skid, the less momentum she loses. And the strength of hops is based on momentum. Its kinda hard to get this all into a youtube comment, but i hope this helps. I would recommend just breaking it down into steps and trying to drill muscle memory. Eventually you'll be able to nail hops almost 100% consistently, and some of the best players like outlyer have pretty insane consistency on the max strength ultras as well. Good luck!
Slide ultrahops feel impossible. There is no point along the slide I can jump without jumping and watching someone else do it looks like magic as despite my best attempts to replicate the inputs shown it just doesn't work.
hey sorry for the late reply, but there are a couple reasons it might not work for you! 1: you have solar wind. this makes slide cancelling impossible! in which case, to get an ultra, just backflip as soon as you land from your solar wind! 2: if you are on a new patch, i believe slidehops have been changed. i think they were just nerfed, and now max speed gives you a blue afterimage instead of a yellow one! im not entirely certain of the specifics as i haven't run on new patch.
dont worry! you will get it eventually i promise! but in the meantime while you're practicing, try doing coyote ultras, or bhop ultras like in the video. i'd say the most common reason i miss ultras is because im not double tapping jump quick enough. hopefully this helps! good luck!
Trying to nail the slidehop ultra is just a fucking nightmare for me, and to watch people speedrun and do it so consistently on demand is so, so frustrating.
Anyone know how to get into the Psuedoregalia speedrunning discord?
Go to the speedrun.com page for pseudo and there should be a discord link at the top! :)
Cool to see guides like this on a new and niche game

hey!!! thanks to this guide i got 30 mins on my third attempt at any% and i'm floored by how fun this run is, thank you

Thank you so much for the kind words! Best of luck on your runs!
Was waiting for a video like this I was doing slidejumps but I didn't know quite how they worked, thanks!
Nice job dude, I was just thinking about putting out a guide for any% movement tech
Man I was just doing crouch backflips with an air backflip to get distance I wish I knew about the glide hops lmao
Thank you so much for this! I'm trying to learn how to do the ultra slidehops (read the comments and saw the solar wind ability messes it up :( so I might have to skip that one lmao) and I've been inconsistent with slidehops in general but slowly getting there!!

Many many thanks for this brilliant guide (along with your others!). This is *exactly* what I was looking for!
Great video for a great game. I love how accessible the game is, but how high the skill ceiling is
I feel this will be helpful, ty!
Just bought the game and starting my first casual playthrough :D
Let's see if i end up running any%
Sure glidehops are cool, multislides are cool, but where are my walking chads at who want to enjoy the games bombastic music
Oh for sure. The music in this game is incredible.
I listen to the soundtrack when I sleep
great guide!

Madness. I'm playing checkers while these people are playing chess.
I see pseudoregalia I sub, it's simple
Whenever I try to cancel a slide with a jump, I do the solar wind.
What now?

maybe that's a new game update but I can't perform ultrahop jump cancel. She's just slide-jumping no matter in what direction, it works only on stairs where I really can do a slide cancel idk I can do it after slide jumping but not cancels
Now i can get that one turret enemy in the castle sansa cross section
Can you not slide cancel if you have Solar Wind unlocked? Or is there just no need to?
Whatever i do if i try to slide chain she just jumps. Slidehops also seem not to work for me at all just backwards, i dont know what i am doing wrong when i am pressing the same keys in the same sequenz.
I tried understanding the glide bunny hops for awhile but i might not understand it correctly.
finally, now I can make my friend look like an idiot for having trouble with this game
So for the backflip, are you saying I hold forward, then hit backk to go into skid, then quickly hold forward again and jump?
Yep! The inputs should be back -> forward -> jump. If you're having trouble, remember you can slow the video down or go frame by frame with the keys and look at the inputs!
Is there an invite for the pseudoregalia discord?
Can you please post Blue Fire next. I heard that's similar and I'll wanna see your inevitable videos😂
I can hit ultras somewhat, but I can't even get glide to work at all.

i have never played this game nor know what this is idk why i got this recommended
This is your sign to get into pseudoregalia speedrunning 😉
Pseudoregayleeah 😂
