Great little snippets of history! Can Do!
Thank you and thanks for watching. 😊
Nice job Jenn! Savanna is a nice place to visit! I played golf there and really enjoyed the local atmosphere!
cool!
Savannah's been on my travel wish list since reading 'Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil'. Seeing tidbits of all the other sites and things you mention just made it jump way up!
That’s so great to hear! We absolutely loved visiting. Such a walkable city and so much to see in even just the core of the city. 😊
Absolutely love Savannah! So beautiful and historically rich. Great episode! Love the pirate house. There was a tunnel in the rum cellar that led to river street where drunk criminals would be taken to work on pirate ships. Loving the videos!
How cool! I don’t think we had learned that about private house. We loved it in Savannah as well. ❤️
Awesome Jenn, this is so cool. I was stationed there when I was 18 and had no idea of the history except the Civil War. I wish I would have. Thank you for taking us there.
What a great place to be stationed! I was very happy to be able to finally visit and definitely need to go back again someday 😊
Great job Scott and Jenn-ay
Ha!!! Thank you 😊
I enjoyed that very much! While we are living in Georgia I would love to go and visit. So many things I did not know but you are always the source for the good information. Most of the other videos I have seen about Savannah have been in the cemeteries so this was all new to me. Thank you so much! Hugs!
Thank you ! 😊 Yes cemeteries are a great place to visit…but you know we do our best to walk the actual spots where History happened if we can. 😉 Hugs to you!
Outstanding video. Actually had a chance to visit that beautiful city once. So many great places to check out. I do want to go back now after watching your video. Would love to see more videos like this where you visit a city and explore all the historic sites.
We definitely want to do that. 😊
I love savannah I was stationed there at HAAF and I tell my wife that the city stole part of my heart. And dear lord I hated those stairs going down to river street after a few to many lol.Thank you for this
Ha! Yes those steps are STEEP for sure!
Remember Savanna GA very well. We used to visit when I was station in Beaufort SC. This video is as interesting and exciting as scoring a goal at the WC FIFA. Cheers y’all.
lol. I think scoring a goal at the world cup might be a bit more exciting...but thank you for the compliment! 😁
Wow,this was a great tour of Savannah.
Thank you! 😁
@@WalkwithHistory you're welcome always 😁
If you go inside the Pirate House as soon as you get to where the front desk is to the right there is an area you can look down where they have preserved a tunnel that was found that runs from under the building to the river. They think pirate crews used to use this tunnel to “Shanghai” unknowing drunken patrons of the tavern to their ships where they would awaken from their drunken slumber only to find themselves at sea and now in the servitude of a pirate captain.
We heard about that after we left! Bummed we missed seeing that tunnel...but I can believe that pirates used to do that. 😮
Cool! I grew up in Savannah. Have you you been to Laurel Grove Cemetery? You’ll find the resting places of Juliette Lowe, founder of the Girl Scouts and James Pierpont, composer of Jingle Bells. My father was the pastor of Ascension Lutheran Church. Be sure to hit River Street and the story of the Waving Girl.
We didn’t get to get over tot the cemetery but we did see the waving girl! Such a neat story that we had heard before.
What an amazing place to grow up!
@@WalkwithHistory It was very cool. River street on St. Patrick’s day is a blast! Boneventuîe Cemetery is where you want to go. It’s where all of the chapters of the book are. It also has graves with the bells for those who feared being buried alive.
Looks like a beautiful city. I'm heading to the US next year. I'm going to DC and New York. If you were to choose one other city and you love history, where would you go?
If you love History I would go to Boston too. That is where my love for History really grew.
@@WalkwithHistory Ok sounds good. It looks like a lazy 3 hour trip train....we love travelling by train.
🤔 Promo SM!!
Thank you for watching 😊
