@@mathewsb19951 Nobody is training, the game randomly picks pokemon with certain sets. The higher leveled pokemon have worst base stat totals so showdown randoms format gives those pokemon higher levels to combat the higher bast stat pokemon.

ya'll need to try the Showdex extension, it's an auto-updating damage calc built into Showdown. It literally runs calcs for you during the battle so you never have to wonder "does this kill?", "how much damage will this do?", etc. It's super based in random battles especially!
