The old XR8 was great but this is bloody quick, personally im a Ute man and I cant get over a good V8 but man the F6 is good

Yep I’ve had two falcon turbos whilst there quick there’s no substitute for the sound of a V8 , now I got two V8s

Yeah, it's funny, in Australia 2 door coupes just didn't sell. There were plenty of attempts, and some really nice cars, Falcon hardtops, Holden Monaros, Chrysler Chargers, but they really sold poorly.
The popular 2 door cars were utes.
How does "Chargers accounted for almost half of all Valiant production" not long after their introduction equate to " 2 door coupes just didn't sell"? Australia's car industry peaked for a short time, dying off with competition from cheaper to buy and run imported cars and oil "crisis" scares. Our companies had less money and streamlined production, cutting models that had more specific markets- families dont buy coupes. Had our population been double at the time, we even would have had convertible versions.
I think they were always very cool just that Australia was too small of a market to make coupes viable. Like we never saw an Aussie convertible.
Being a ford bloke I would love to have seen a 2 Door XRGT.

@@rossbrumby1957 some coupes sold well initially after introduction. The last Monaro did too. But sales quickly dropped off.
It's pretty obvious, if coupes had been strong sellers they wouldn't have stopped making them.
Even the current Mustang, after decent sales numbers initially, has dropped off considerably.
Here in australia it definitely hasnt always been 4 doors. At the car industry's peak, all the big 3 had 2 door models and with performance (of the day) to boot. Economics killed that option off as imports started competing for sales generally.
this is true in a way.. but so many great cars here are 4 doors so thats my ignorance coming out from my short time here
@@RossReviewsau the late 60’s and early 70’s had the Holden Monaro and falcon coupes. Through the mid 70’s we’re Holden Torana coupes falcon coupes. In my opinion, (there would be massive arguments) however I would say Brock in his A9x Torana (coupe) was the pinnacle of that era and possibly be THE halo car today ( I’d suggest $1.5m for an original A9x. Ford guys would argue the late 60’s to 70 ford HO’s (phase 2) is the Halo car.

We have a clean BFII XR6 with 100,000k's on it sitting there, the only thing I dislike about BA/BF's is the factory seats are so uncomfortable, and I can never seem to get low enough.

@@RossReviewsau 100% they don’t want things to last like they used to do you can go and buy another another or spend money on repairs seeing it with nearly everything these days sadly
A former work mate of mine owned an AU with the Intech SOHC ...the dad to the Barra and it had 578,000 kms on it the last time I asked him .. He was averaging about 150 kms a day while he had it on the road . The body was gone , the BTR was on it's last legs so he scrapped it a while back .. The SOHC was also built to last . Mine only has a bit over 200,000 kms because I have two other cars that get driven more but the only even remotely engine issue with mine is an inlet manifold gasket . The plugs believe it or not are still totally original and she kicks over with no hesitation every single time .. Turn off the Economy button and give her a squeeze and she gets to illegal plenty fast enough for me.. My FG XR6 is that much better ,, Another surprising thing is that the Barra powered XR6 is amazingly economical on a long trip .. I can get around 8.0 l per 100 km or about 33 mpg on a fairly standard drive if you don't have long stops at roadworks / city driving ...Done a daily reset a few times now to prove it .. Barra and SOHC are both bloody incredibly reliable ....

If only you had an f6 tornado there too..I used to drive an old black xd ute 351 and all the turf driveline.. sure you can't beat the sound of a v8 but handling wise an F6 ute is my dream car... always great content btw..

Can't believe how loud your old xr8 was, mine (sedan) is pretty much straight through except one hi flow 3" muffler right at the back and it sounds no where near as loud as your one does even on camera.
Mate it was so much fun the noise that Ute! I miss it 😿 so loud

Destroys the outdated barra in all ways, straight line, around a track, anywhere. They don't need barras there lol
@@94toxic94 fair point, FPVs are kinda like boats, still better than us muscle around a track but HSV cars are weapons around the track and can still be used for practical things while having incredible performance.a corvette on the other hand, granted it’s the faster car but in my opinion, not the better car
@@SkiRacingOz I do agree hsv's do handle pretty well man, the vf's did a really good job. I just think barras are a little overrated and there's much better options especially over in Canada and the US but that's just my opinion. Still give credit to the barra for what it is, it was an amazing engine when they were producing it still.

Was looking at bf typhoons but just couldn’t go there due to there look and interior. They do go like the clappers tho I will say that
i love there look.. the interior is soso yes but the exterior is my favourite of any falcon.. (do love a good F6310 tho)

@@RossReviewsau I used to live in Mundaring 20 years ago, now in Brisbane, some great empty roads around there, a particular favourite was Mundaring Weir Rd between Mundaring and Kalamunda, I used to love fanging along there in the 70s on my Triumph Trident.

Im guessing 485hp is on its max tune setting, whats the mid tune and stock tunes on it putting out, think you had mentioned it had like 3 settings?
I still don’t have the exact figures for the other tunes 😅 but yes 485 is the max power.. middle boost tho feels like around 310rwkw ish to me

I have a bf xr6t with 400rwk wich required a fair amount of work under the bonnet.
There is a video out already with all the mods we have done 👍 decent amount but all bolt ons really

Ya need one of each you need an xr8 ute to daily and an F6 for fun… will say the F6’s in b and f series are getting pricy back up around new prices… which is awesome but making it harder to obtain one… love the car needs a new wheel bad… 👌👌
the dream some day is to get a V8 ute next to her again.. the steering wheel will be getting re-trimmed very soon!

@@RossReviewsau probably under high rpm the lifter pumping up, takes them a couple seconds to bleed off
If it was running rough after that high rev 3rd gear pull, it's probably your valve springs if ya haven't already done them

@@RossReviewsau That's what they normally do with stock springs after valve floating because they pump the lifters up and hold the valves from seating properly. Just came to mind was all haha

just the idle went a bit rough and felt a bit bumpy from the back.. as soon as i pulled over tho it was fine and hasnt returned

Hey Ross when is the next au falcon project going to come on the channel so you can keep for yourself because I love my au falcons especially if they are turbo Barra swapped my m8 has a 2001 series 2 au falcon and it has a XR6T Barra under the hood making between 300 and 500kw and I love the dam thing but sadly he’s going to sell it so I’m a bit bummed about that but hopefully the next turbo Barra swapped AU falcon comes along soon. Oh and btw have you got to doing the battle of the turbo barras review I would love to see that video soon thanks Ross 👍✌️.

I don't know how you get traction like that mine is only 270kw and I can't drive mine like that without the back wheels letting go from first to second it's impossible even on the hottest sticky roads has too much torque at low rpm

For warmer weather and light trackwork, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S
Agree with Nor Dic. When I bought my XR6 Turbo it had really cheap tyres and used to break traction all the time. When I got better tyres there was a big improvement.

@@mandoleenebando429 yea mine supposedly only has 240 at the rears and when you take off in the dry when it gets to about 60 to 70 ks it starts spinning the wheels and always steps to the left and i have michelin pilot sport 4s on it completely useless on a wet road you have to drive it like a granny.
