- Went out to Wharton State Park for a little fun but turned out to be a disaster. After a snapped winch cable and being stuck for 2 1/2 hours we finally got out and called it a day.
That sammie is unstoppable tho... I'll tell you that little truck has shocked the hell out more people including myself and the owner. It goes almost anywhere you want it to.
I love those little Sami's. Great sturdy little 4x4s. Would like one some day.
FunFunFun!!!!! Great video. I like the fact that both vehicles had snorkels. Too bad about the winch breaking.
I was goin to get a samurai but jeep won. I love my jeep. My jeep loves the rain here in socal. she's a mudder. And the face is crazzy. It's the god of the mud, he's happy.
Well, for me both are really good......But something no one can deny is that Samurai is very capable taking in consideration the engine size and the car size itself....Samurai has been one of the real Off Road Legends, along with Jeep and the not so knows Lada Niva. So, we cant say if one or the other is better.
invest in boggers for that kind of mud and lower gears.. Oh and the sam through the middle would have sank... Mudding 101- When in doubt, give it gas! Dont stop, work the tires and give the tires all the speed you can. Good vid, hope to see more!
hi guys......i m jaggi........m from india (punjab) i hve a jeep mine personal ....i like jeep stunts.....and the first u shown the suzuki....is very famous in india...i like it very musch.......
Trust me on this one buying a Wrangler will be one of the best, most fun decisions you'll ever make
LOL that video reminded me of the time I got stuck for around 2 hours I was stuck behind a jeep with a sidekick behind my car . . .
Good thing you had the winch :) That looks like quick sand !
Haha great film!! Would like to see the end though...
For the sami, if it has a spoa and at least a 1in lift with springs, 31x13.5 tsl sx's will get you anywhere when aired down. Oh and backspaced rims so you dont rub. A weber carb with the inclination stall fix (super easy to do) will help with any stall issues if you dont have the finds for a 1.6 or other mod. i run in the hawaii mud (sand water and clay mixed up) and this set up is great.
i like these kinda days that way when my buddies get stuck i can just laugh cuz they go thru the middle KNOWING they wont make it lol
those pipes that go to the engine are sick
The green one is mine, she does a nice job of everything I ask of it. The only issue I have is we do not have much in the way of Rock around us, so I have to go north or south to get some. I did Ardbeg last year and it was a blast. That was a 5 hour trip, but we stayed at a friends cottage.
Don't feel bad I've done it myself last week on my way to Blockbusters I say I go mudding first it had been raining for acouple of days well I I got my Tacoma buried pass the bumper the bad news was I was alone as I was walking out (a couple of miles) I run into some guys 4 wheeling & they were able to winches me out, but it all in the name of fun keep it up!!!!
great fun i keep getting into such situations with my samurai, i have a nissan patrol diesel with a winch that comes in handy!
your jeep looks real nice. you may want to turn off your lights, radio, ac/blower fan too when you winch. free up as much amperage as possible.
nice mudding!!
more challenging!! also... tires are expensive. i've done my share of mismatched used bald tire offroad fun :)
A well built Samurai can do just as well as a well built Jeep. They are both awesome vehicles stock and when built.
In the Pines you really want to air down. There are some mud holes and such, 90% of the area is soft sand. I was just there on Saturday and there was a tremendous difference before/after we all aired down.
to each their own. i love my jeep and i beat her up almost every weekend. everyones got their own hobbies
Ha! I know where that is. It's waaaaaaay deeper now. Practically a pond with over 2' of standing water in the middle. Has some nice 3' deep ruts in it on top of that ocassionally. Fun obstacle!
the best thing about offrading is that moment wondering if i'm going to get stuck and it makes it fun geting stuck ...... these people with these smart ass comments need to get a life these guys are fully having fun, ain't it what its all about?
nice jeep man, very nice.
love the vid!
I agree...I have a suzuki sx4...and have not gotten it stuck yet....I would like to try some seriouse holes with it but I don't usually go with someone that can pull me out...Suzuki all the way dude!! Oh, and Jeeps rock too!!
I don't know why ppl would bash these guys even if they don't do everything perfect. The point of a 4x4 is to do whatever you want, this isn't a competition there are no points for a perfect run here lol.
And as for the mud, anyone that trails knows that there is a lot of different mud out there. I've passed through mud to my floor before and got stuck in much less also.
In the spring 5" of mud + frozen ground under that = slip n slide
Doesn't getting both vehicles stuck at the same time advantage of taking two? Just my thoughts.
In Australia more and more tracks are being closed because of this kind of behaivor. And I love offroading.
Well I did see that, I will say this, with a little more experience, you would have likely made it through that hole without getting hung up like that, but the Zuk is way to low to play that deep. Where abouts are you located?
tires weren't aired down... only when I go to Rausch Creek. Run about 15 to 17 psi wraps right around the rock
Well I would have to agree but we took one to the limits over the weekend. Took it Rausch Creek and put it on some black trails burnt his clutch up and got him towed home but damn it was doing good up till that point.
Macaman the whole point is to have fun , your going to get wet and muddy . I have to say if you mod that samurai you will storm that jeep . Difflocker's , larger tyre's and mybe lift springs or spoa would do nicely , I know my Sammy would make it :)
@Darkyodajedi cuz a zuk is closer to the original Jeep design than any currently built jeep, which is why an equivalently equipped zuk can go more places than a post-1971 jeep.
@tofinghellwithit Oh sorry I misread your comment as the winch only hurts the recovery attempt not "helping" the winch. Thus I was confused.
It's generally better to try to run through the middle of a hole that big. Hitting it on the side you run the risk of rolling, or you can slide into the hole at an awkward angle (like in this video) and unless you have a locker, your differential isn't going to get you anywhere.
Why both stuck in minute 5?
did the winch dead?
@eternalbug I think he only said that because once the jeep got onto solid ground, the driver was getting too far ahead of the winch.
That poor Jeep looks like new!
the stuff of sanity lol only joking im a huge land rover fan but the suzukis and jeeps are pretty awesome
@NullusxVotum simple. spinning your tires got you in the whole in the first place, by continuing to spin your tires you tend to dig the whole a little more. when you rely on the winch the tires will tend to roll up to the top and let you steer better one you are out of the rutt
omg i love that mud hole at 2:04
I was checking out the Rausch Creek park, that would be a fun road trip. The only down side is it is 6 hours away.
had a front locker in there but wasnt working... it was the ected from auburn gears turned out there was a defect with the dana 30 model so sent it back and put an ox locker in there... and they aren't bfg's there firestone destinations.
A lot of people buy Japan still, love Japan!! More than America!
what tires are you using? they seem to grab pretty well
that was hilarious when the sumarai got stuck!
And the jeep too..thats
why the winch
For every terrain there is an appropriate wheel and tire package.
@tofinghellwithit I used to drive wrecker too, and I gotta agree with you, helping the winch only hurts the recovery attempt.
Yes they do have some balls but the they got the altitude record with a heavily modified sammy... it had a v8 and was lifted the whole shabang... I think jeep should still hold the record but kudos to the sammys because they are tough little trucks
@rublex94 its a snorkel so that the jeep can go in deeper water without having water in the engine
somebody once said "shit happens" and that was!
Nice Jeep, may be better tires would have helped.
the suzuki pulled me out at the end
Why? They never get stuck? I own a Jeep but I find nothing wrong with landrovers.
I LOVE DAY'S LIKE THIS
COOL VID
did u switched to the synthetic cable after this?
if you read all the post you would have realized that through the bushes was most likely our easiest way out... going through the middle of that we probally would have sunk the jeep and I think a few bushes are worth less than a whole jeep.
I put my stock Zuk through a lot of crap man, wait till you Mod it a little, you will leave that poor little Jeep behind every time. One question though, why did the Jeep not just winch the Sammy out from behind instead of getting in a crappier location?
@Jaxonguitar props to the first person to see that. That is so cool...
ya look like it was fun man
man i miss my sammy :(
tread lighty to the dork driving the Jeep, geeze, a little scared to get in some more mud, whimp.
Its not always the vehicle, knowin what your doin helps
so that the winch cable stays tight and doesnt bind up cause its to loose while ur pullin it back in
how big are the tires on the jeep? 35s or 33s?
Yea if thats your zuk in those videos you have you would prob. love that place. Just drive down to a campsite set up wheel for a day or two and drive back. That would be the way to do it.
why the hell are you guys going back and forth through the same slough?
Is that place legal? if so how do you get there from Philly?
yeah. wat i really need is some tires the ones i got are bald. kinda hard to go muddin with bald tires
Hey how many inches is that jeep lifted?
i agree....got my bronco stuck the other day because the differential......the two tires that were spinning were the ones that were stuck....if the other two wouldve caught i woulda been fine
You should really try mud tires, helps so much more then highway tires
is that anywhere near Wharton State Univ. in Texas?
Cool Video!
where is part 2 ??? How you got out of there ???
@flipbarracuda are the ones you know made out of plastic? mines empty weight is 2050!!!
@dread313 The difference is I drive mine daily.... AND OFFROAD MINE. "I wouldn't take mine through that unless I had to" "I won't get on your case even though those tires are not truly meant for paved road." Actually my tires are radial Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs. They are ment for the road but they are ment for offroading as well.
I just truly love Jeeps so it's not fanboy-ism. Fanboy's are people who own Jeeps and they are scared to get them dirty. Guys who actually offroad isn't fanboy-ism
is it a stock samurai? I asking becouse im going to buy thats sweety like this.
reminds me of when i dunked my old pathy and was stuck for 3.5 hrs....
@jenniferl9 samurai has regular street tires... wrangler has mud tires...
hi what year is your jeep?
the samuri looks like a go cart lol
i sold my mitsubishi fto to bye a jeep.a used jeep for 20.000eu because here their very very expensive.i bulid it very very good and i m very happy.leave the sports cars man, their only for show.y will fall in love with the jeep.
Is that a stock sammy
This is exactly why you wait till the other guy is out before you go through something tough. duhhh.
Tread Lightly?
thing is we were planning to continue on that trail but then everything else just went wrong... if we didnt plan to go on we mostly likely would have pulled him out from the rear.
2 1/2 hours isnt much when you've been stuck for 6 hours with a few trucks trying to pull us out and then the power steering breaks with 44" tsl and 2.5 ton rockwells especially when you have to drive it home
@dread313 Correction I never said they were not made as daily drivers. I have 2 Jeeps and both are daily drivers. 1 being 89 cherokee 8.5"lift 33"tires other being 01 TJ on 31"
They both are daily drivers. SO you are actually incorrect in your statement. I'm not mad I'm just stating my comments. Yes Jeeps are daily drivers as well BUT if people don't do what they are made for OFFROAD they don't need a Jeep. That is my point and i'm far from mad just feel sorry for the Jeep because stupid owners
exept the snorkle
we got one its awsom 31" super swampers
Brotherwhat year it's the jeep hu?
@Darkyodajedi yeah, cause off roading is all about, nice paint, and good looks, and huge lifts. not capability.
youre on the wrong side of the pond mate:-)
I think the only way a zuk will compete offroad with jeep and toyota, is to turn it into a permanent trail rig.
Yes just take hampton road straight down which is right off of route 206
lol 0:52 he's blowing off some steam
@eternalbug as a professionally trained wrecker driver and a long time offroader i call tell you that helping the winch only hurts the recovery attemp
looks like fun!!
wooow ... pause at 5:29 ... theres a face there !!! no kiddin (at the door window) :#
Whats it mean when the truck starts smokin
thanks cause i am planning to go there this weekend
standing next to wench while there is tenchin on it with a camera video taping it.. Not the smartest but this was still funny
