I think the reason why the "wokeness" of Fallout isn't preceived as bad as in other shows, is that in Fallout it feels organic and believable. If you make a show that takes place in 1800 England and you have mixed race, black or LGBTQ characters that have a lot of friends or are respected by sociaty it just doesn't make sense cause back then, they would have been either enslaved, lynched or sent to the nuthouse (which I of course don't support but that was how times where back then). In Fallout on the other hand, it absolutely works to have characters like that. First of all, are the games like that already. People don't give a damn about race or sexuality, for an instant Veronica in New Vegas was a lesbian. The "racism analogy" in Fallout was reserved for Ghoules. And all of that is just like that in the show. That's why people are not mad at the show. Because this was always the problem people really had with "wokeness". Shows highjacked IPs that weren't like that and made it woke. In Fallout, they respected the source material and kept what was already there. I hope producers will learn from that. No one ever really had a problem with gay, nonbinary, black or female characters (I know, a very small but very vocal group of people have but they are not the main issue). The problem has ALWAYS been studios and producers messing with the sourcematerial and writing lazy and uncreative characters and storys just to crowbar some woke BS inthere. But since Fallout made it organic, didn't dile it up to 11 and stuck to the source, it worked like a charm.

Fallout is good in this regard as a deep social critique, while they could say Overwatch is weak because it’s more “woke” additions add nothing and could be seen as only being pandering. Why are rare things being presented as a common piller of daily life? And by doing so, how has it made it better for race relations? Have families grown stronger because of this? Does it negatively affect same race marriages in some way? What do the stats say?

It's not that they made up entirely new things... exept for Fallout 1 and 2 the games never refered to each other anyways and the exact dates in the games never REALY mattered to beginn with. The Bombs drop in 2077 and the games take place some hundred years after that... I played through the entirety of New Vegas and never really knew what year it was... I'm sure it says it somewhere but in the end it didn't matter. "distant future" is as precise as it has to be. And the fact that Vaulttec is now directly responsible for the apocalypse was often theorised and hinted at in the games. I wouldn't get too hung up on that. The show is too faithful and well written otherwise for that.

If Shady Sands was distroyed in 2281 and shortly before that, Lucy was 6 (as mentioned during her flashback scene), she would be 21 in the show (which takes place in 2296) which checks out for me. And in the end, you can totally interpret the black board in vault 4 as "The Fall of Shady Sands" in 2277 being a period of decline that took place over several years and the atomic cloud next to it being a different event that took place in 2281 (although I admit, that the whole thing is a bit missleading) Be that as it may, The entire "retcon" debate wasn't that important to me to beginn with... I'm just happy we got such a great show

Things like race mixing or female protagonists are fine. Progressives want their politics to supersede whatever vision an artist has. It's a tale as old as time. Fallout has traces of wokeness but it isn't that intrusive.

There are tons of gay and trans right wingers. I can think of two woke moments in the show. One woke moment is the Brotherhood of Steel allowing a non-binary person in their faction which seems out of character for that faction. Another woke moment is using the troupe of a badass pregnant woman, which is very cringe. Ideally, I would like this show to remove all woke elements but I don't think it's fair to call this show woke just because of a few questionable decisions.
Woke means "far left," and gay isn't exclusively a left position. Then why is the right always using it on gay and POC. You just used "woke" on a pregnant woman calling it cringe and a non binary character in the brotherhood of steel. You know the brotherhood of steel allows women in the ranks, so having a nonbinary in the brotherhood donsnt mean anything because woman arnt excluded to male roles. if you are a Fallout fan, you should know that bethesda has been changing fallout since they acquired it. Sure it's annoying, but every since 76 I reserved my "thats not lore accurate" because just like star wars disney has been changing it to make it there's.

But like, just being a trans person in media shouldn't immediately be considered woke, just like how having a black person in media shouldn't be considered woke. They did fuck with the lore a little bit (especially by the end but I wont spoil) overall the show is good and they nailed the vibes and it is canon.
Attacking 'politics in games' is just a strawman if you don't actually address what they're trying to say, that it's preachy and forced. It would clearly be an issue for you if helldivers was pushing a transphobia or anti-abortion message right? Also Fallout wasn't always a criticism of capitalism until recently, it was mostly a criticism of an American government who controlled everything.
I mean no disrespect but if it's always been woke then why does *nobody* say the original games are woke? (except lefties in arguments). well do they? just because they got one date wrong? It's not that they made up entirely new things... exept for Fallout 1 and 2 the games never refered to each other anyways and the exact dates in the games never REALY mattered to beginn with. The Bombs drop in 2077 and the games take place some hundred years after that... I played through the entirety of New Vegas and never really knew what year it was... I'm sure it says it somewhere but in the end it didn't matter. "distant future" is as precise as it has to be. And the fact that Vaulttec is now directly responsible for the apocalypse was often theorised and hinted at in the games. I wouldn't get too hung up on that. The show is too faithful and well written otherwise for that.
@@malte1984 they actually didn't get any dates wrong, Godd Howard came down and said that the nuke dropped on Shady Sands just after New Vegas, the fall of shady sands and it's destruction are two different things

If Shady Sands was distroyed in 2281 and shortly before that, Lucy was 6 (as mentioned during her flashback scene), she would be 21 in the show (which takes place in 2296) which checks out for me.
And in the end, you can totally interpret the black board in vault 4 as "The Fall of Shady Sands" in 2277 being a period of decline that took place over several years and the atomic cloud next to it being a different event that took place in 2281 (although I admit, that the whole thing is a bit missleading)
Be that as it may, The entire "retcon" debate wasn't that important to me to beginn with... I'm just happy we got such a great show

Strange how different opinions are... I liked the acting, which was maybe not topnotch, but for sure not bad. I thought it was sometimes a bit slow, but I have seen (and stopped watching) worse shows. This one was good enough for me to watch the whole season in a few days.
