I saw 1 video of Janek Gwizdala and he became one of my favorites right away, along with Oteil Burbridge and Tal Wilkenfeld. Amazing taste on those solos man. He's an amazing teacher as well.

Love both these dudes but the singing along with everything you play thing gets on my nerves. not trying to hate, it's just not for me. Janek is super talented though. I just prefer Hadrien.

BoomBoomPeanuts when you’re a true improviser you already know what you’re gonna play...singing it helps them

And I'm a bass player. I'm no Janek or Hadrian, but I can improvise. and I can play. I practice alot. A whole lot, and I will get to that level. But I just don't understand the whole singing thing. Hadrian doesn't do it...I have no desire too. I like hearing the sound of my bass when I play. Because I'm listening, trying to improve. And I love the tones and things you can pull out of the bass..and I've bought several of janeks books. And the dude is a great teacher , a nice guy... But honestly from watching his videos and all that, I think the dude just likes to hear himself talk. And that goes with the singing thing lol. If you get into his lessons and everything, you'll understand what I mean....he can go on and on sometimes...I'm like damn dude just get to the point. Lol..I mean I hate to sound like a dick.. because I'm very grateful for his books and the time he puts into his lesson videos. His chordal harmony books are amazing, I've learned a lot about music from him...but he does go overboard sometimes. And the whole singing thing turns me off to his lessons some times...like if I'm not in the mood, i can't watch it. I'll have to wait til I'm in the mood to handle it.. because I know therrd gonaa be a good lesson in the video. But it can get on my nerves...and from watching his online vlogs he does ...he has a shit ton of videos. He has his wife on ans all that.. and I'll think to myself, I bet he drives her insane with that singing lol. Like you know 8am, and janeks practicing... everyday. Cause I understand, I practice as much as possible. Its an obsession. And I know he's like me...and that would have to drive her insane. Lol...but again he's a great player .I would enjoy his videos more ..oh and one more thing...I listened to one of his live albums..ana it was excellent...but then I started hearing the singing ...like once you hear it you can't not hear it ..and now it's hard to listen to that album. The music is great. But you can hear it. It's called live at the 55 bar...chexk it out and tell me you don't hear it lol.

And again I have mass respect for janek. I wouldn't be nowhere near the level I'm at , without his books. And I highly recommend his videos if your a bass player. His style is different from mine...but he's a great teacher. I just think the singing turns alot of people off.

Janek thinks a lot like 60's-70's George Benson, improvisationally :-)

  • @norsangkelsang7939

we did this in the 80's... tis new to the younger crowd. Once this progression goes through changes... these guys usually fall by the waste side. It is interesting for the first 20 seconds. But... the jam thing is getting old. Neils is still the standard for bass solo. RIP.

Sounds like these guys just can't wait to improvise. Two bassists and it feels like the groove is missing.
I know they're both great bassists but they don't seem to like keeping a solid groove.
