I had to throw out 2 pieces of furniture . They first started with the mould, and no matter what i used to clean them the mould keep coming back and spread to other furniture and other places. Mould is hard to get rid of especially in the rainy season 😫.

A lot of this is the result of how the homes are designed. Ja..is a society that doesn't appear to appreciate the benefits of incorporating extractor fans into the design of homes. This is basic stuff, and architects are failing jamaicans. They are very conservative with oversized egos, and most feel they know it all.

Use white vinegar and some water. Spray on it and wait for 10-15 minutes and then wipe it off. Make sure you wear a mask and make sure you are not in the room when you leave it to soak. 😉

Small areas: Use a solution of water and detergent or a mixture of 1 part white vinegar to 2 parts water. Scrub the affected areas with a sponge or brush.
Tough mould: For more stubborn mould, use a bleach solution (1 cup of bleach to 1 gallon of water). Spray the mixture on the surface and let it sit for 15 minutes before scrubbing.
Do not mix bleach with other cleaning products, especially ammonia, as this can create toxic fumes.
There's also the use of special paints that are mould-resistant

Use Lysol Mold And Mildew Remover. Or spray with White Vinegar.
If your painted surface is moldy, scrape it away and spray the mold with vinegar or Lysol Mold and Mildew or some other treatment. Allow the surface to dry properly and ensure all spores are destroyed before repainting with a waterproofing primer like Lanco's Dry Coat or Sur Fastyl. Then you can paint over that primer with regular paint of your choice.
Ensure you wear a mask when spraying or scraping away the Mold.

I'm still waiting to hear the health effects of mould. It's dangerous and can impact one's mental and cardiac health. Mould infestation is terrible in Manchester where i live. I'm seeing it on the walls in my kitchen of my new apt, and I just moved out of an apt with this feathery fungus that popped out of the walls whenever the rain fell. I have no evidence cause I haven't seen the doctor about it, but I wonder if it's not contributing to the brain fog I've developed since moving to Manchester. And my respiratory health has deteriorated as well. And we won't talk about the mildew everywhere. The health ministry needs to inspect and provide more information. We can't leave it up to landlords. They only collect rent. They don't care about our health. In wet areas, there is little they can do to stop it either.. and very few will pay a private company to treat it. They just paint over it and go.

Clean and paint with a mold killing primer such Zinsser. Also maybe use a paint formulated for high humidity areas such as AURA by Benjamin Moore. Pricey but bad health will cost you more. Other option is to get an ozone generator.
