    I have tried 3 different DVD players to hook up to the HDMI cable and none of them work. Neither do any of my tablets when trying to stream through the HDMI on Netflix, etc. Any ideas on what I can use to actually get something to play on this screen? This is beyond frustrating for a mom with 3 young kids who just want to watch a DVD on a car ride.

      Thanks for the question, here are some ideas that might help. 1. Were the electrical outlets you used to power the DVD players turned on up front using the button just to the left of the steering wheel that says “AC 120volts”? If that button was not pushed, try the DVD player again with the outlets turned on. 2. If your using Android based tablets, download the MIRACAST app and hook that device to the cars WiFi, then on the TV select MIRACAST as the source, start a show on the tablet, then using the icons on the tablets screen, allow it to use MIRACAST to share the video with the screen. Hope that brings some relief and thanks for watching!

    Do you mind showing or providing the exact HDMI cable you use? I notice in the description of the video it’s the one thing you probably inadvertently left out. So far, every single HDMI cable we’ve tried, won’t fit into the input in the rear because of the hinge on the little door cover. It’s very frustrating! Thanks so much for your great videos!

    • @TwoGuysandaRide
      @TwoGuysandaRide  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for the question. There isn’t any settings that you need to change, however make sure that when connecting the iPhones to the hdmi port that you are using a hdmi dongle that also has a lightning charge port on it to connect to your phone. Then make sure you use the lightning cable and charge brick to plug in your phone. Also be sure you have the rear outlet turned on (that you turn on in the front). So in other words not only are you plugging your phone into the hdmi but your also charging it at the same time. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

      Thanks for the question. The owners manual does not address what can and what cannot it be used with the system, and I have not tried that combination before, so I will contact the dealership and see if they know. Only thing I can think offhand is to check how much power the wii requires and see if that Matches up with the power delivered from the van. If it’s not enough that could explain the black screen. Here are video file formats that the vans system will accept. MPEG-4 Video, H.264/AVC Video (.mp4/.m4v), MPEG-2 Video (.mpg), Win- dows Media Video (.wmv), AVI container (.avi), M2TS (.m2ts), 3GP (.3gp). Check and be sure the Wii is sending out in one of those formats. One last thought just to cover everything, make sure the car is running or the key is in the acc position (single push on the start button no foot on the brake) as the outlet needs to have the vehicle on. I’ll reply again once I’ve heard back from our dealer. Thanks for watching!

    Could you please share how I can connect Roku or Onn AndroidTv?? I tried and it is not working

    • @TwoGuysandaRide
      @TwoGuysandaRide  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks for the question. In order to use a Roku stick first plug the stick into the rear HDMI port and make sure the vehicle is in accessory position or is sitting outside running. you would need to connect the Roku stick either to the vehicles WiFi or a hotspot on n your phone. Once that is done, turn the TV on and select Rear HDMI on the left side of the screen. Now use either the remote that came with the Roku stick or the Roku app on your phone to control and select content. If however you are using Android Tv as an app on your phone, and your phone is an android phone (which I am assuming it is), first turn the Tv on and select MIRACAST as the input. Next turn on your phone, start a show in the Android TV app, and then you should see a MIRACAST symbol pop up on the phones screen, click on it and select your cars TV (if it asks you to) and then your show should appear on your screen. Now, depending on the age of your phone, you may have to download the MIRACAST app from the Google Play Store, but if it’s a newish phone, it will already be built in. So if your using an IPhone, save yourself a lot of trouble and buy a cheap android tablet, download whatever content you want on your home WiFi, then in the vehicle follow the directions above for streaming the content on your android tablet via MIRACAST. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

    You didn’t show or adequately explain how you made the connections. I have an HDMI cable, the adapter dongle, and it still won’t register that it’s connected. It would be much more helpful if you could show exactly what steps you took to 1) make the connection with the specific cables you used, and 2) which buttons you pushed to activate it from the front like you described but you didn’t show.

    • @TwoGuysandaRide
      @TwoGuysandaRide  3 роки тому +3

      Thanks for the question. My first thought is, did you power the adaptor? This HDMI adapter has a separate plug in on it to power it. So I would check that first and then second, assuming you had it powered, did you turn on the power to the household outlet in the vehicle? There is a button up front to turn the household outlet on. If you have done those two things and it still does not work (which it should) let me know. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

    • @TwoGuysandaRide
      @TwoGuysandaRide  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks! DLNA stands for Digital Living Network Alliance. It was developed by a group of PC and consumer electronics companies in about 2003 to develop a common set of guidelines by which media devices could share video, audio, and pictures if they were connected to the same local network . So basically it’s a way for phones or other devices to hook to the cars local WiFi network and through that, share video, picture and audio files. Thanks for watching!

But if I get the converter, and use the electrical outlet for the charger, what’s the sequence to hook it all together? ( converter to charger and iPad to converter? Unless it's a laptop with multiple ports, I doubt if you can charge the ipad and stream content through HDMI at the same time. I could be wrong. They made this system complicated by requiring another display device to use a display device. Crazy !! I don't know if I could just connect a dvd player with HDMI connection would work or a hard drive with HDMI adapter connection will work? Have not tried those yet.

    • @TwoGuysandaRide
      @TwoGuysandaRide  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the question. You can certainly use an iPad with downloaded content with this rear entertainment system. The order you connect things makes no difference. Just be sure to use a powered HDMI adaptor for the iPad, like the one we show in the video. Here is what I did. I turned on the rear screen, then selected HDMI as the source. Next I turned the rear outlet on from the front (just to the left of the steering wheel). Then once in the back again, I hooked the HDMI adaptor to the iPhone, then I plugged my power cable (lightning cable) into the wall adapter (like you would normally do to charge it in the house), then I plugged that into the rear power outlet (looks like a household plugin). Then I plugged the other end of the lighting cable to the converter that was plugged into my phone. Once I saw that my iPhone was charging, then I plugged the HDMI cable into the HDMI input on the rear of the center arm rest (right next to the electrical plug in). Then I plugged the other end of the HDMI cable into then iPhone adaptor. Then I turned on my phone, unlocked it, and then just used my iPhone to select what I wanted to watch.
      That being said, a few things to think about:
      1. If any of those cables get loose, it will end the connection, so maybe think about where you can safely store the iPad, once everything is hooked up and running, in a manner that keeps all the cords connected.
      2. If the iPad keeps disconnecting frequently, think about purchasing a cheap android tablet that you can use just like the iPad, but you can connect wirelessly using MIRACAST.
      3. We list the necessary cables etc in the description below the video.
      Hope that helps, thanks for watching and don’t forget to click that subscribe button!

      Thanks for the question. A couple of thoughts: 1. Have you plugged the dongle, into the power brick so it is receiving power from the car? 2. Have you turned on the rear outlet from the front so the the back plug in actually has power? One of those two things should fix what your seeing. If you’re already doing all that, then do you have your rear tv screen set to the correct input? Short of that their might be a bad cable somewhere in all those connections so test them separately inside the house to be sure their all working. Unfortunately none of the new rear tv systems play nicely with Apple ( from any manufacturer). Honestly my best suggestion is to buy a cheap android tablet, don’t buy a plan with it, just use the WiFi to hook to your homes WiFi, download any video apps you want, then go back to the vehicle, and simply start the tv, turn it to the right input, start the video on your android tablet, and then click the little MIRACAST icon on the android devices screen, and the movie will play on the tv. Much easier, no wires and you can either download videos to the device (Amazon and Netflix both allow this for viewing movies off line) or hook the android device to your phones hotspot and stream the videos (depending on your cell phone plan this may generate extra costs though). Hope one of those ideas will help. Thanks for watching!

      Miracast is for an Android Phone. We have iPhones and they are more complicated to connect to this system. That's why we showed it. With an Android phone, you simply download the Miracast app and follow the easy setup instructions to stream content for your Android phone. its very simple

      You can unlock the rear system by, on the front infotainment screen, pressing the audio button, then press on source, then press Rear. On this screen there is a button towards the bottom right side that says “locked”. Click on it to unlock the system. Thanks for watching!

    I phones do not work. I have to get an Amazon fire stick plus buy an adaptor so the fire stick will plug into the hdmi port because the cover over the port will not allow a fire stick to go straight into the port-the tech mechanic had to pop the port cover off in order to go without an adaptor-nobody wants all the wires under the cover exposed. Anything with an HDMI input WILL NOT WORK. I HAVE HAD MY NEW 2021 to two different dealers. So disappointed. Why not just have a DVD player with the expensive entertainment system!!

      We agree. The DVD system was far more simple and it worked well. Too many kinks still in all the Streaming RES systems. Thanks for watching

    It would have been really nice to show the items you were talking about instead of just showing generic images. also, your cell phone quality is really poor so trying to gauge an idea of the screen resolution is impossible. I don't think I've run into a salesman yet who can truly explain how to set up and use the entertainment system

    • @TwoGuysandaRide
      @TwoGuysandaRide  3 роки тому +3

      We showed the images and even listed the exact items in our description area of the video. We did that to help our viewers better see exactly what would be needed with an iPhone. Had we shown them only on the video, it would have been much harder for you to see and understand what specific items were needed. As for the Cellphone, yeah it had a poor signal but the Screen is 11.6" and is 1080p HD. Toyota doesn't list the refresh rate of the screen but in person its as clear as your 1080p HD Living Room TV Screen that has a 120Hz refresh rate.
      Two more points to make. 1. We're not salesman and we don't work for Toyota. 2. Basically the system is very simple, much more so in person. If you have an Android phone you can stream easily from your phone using "Miracast" that's built into the system...you just grab the app for your phone.
      It is a little more technical if you use an iPhone to connect that why we showed it that way. Of course with the HDMI port you can plug in any device that has an HDMI Out into the system and it will show the files/games/movies etc on the screen. It's really plug and play and we're sorry if we made it see more complicated than it is. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching!

    • @TwoGuysandaRide

      No it’s not, however you could plug in a portable DVD player as long as it had an hdmi output. Every new system we see coming out in 2021 gets rid of the DVD player and replaces it with more modern technology. Thanks for watching!

      @@TwoGuysandaRide picked up the new van today and by most accounts it is great. However, Toyota really dropped the ball on it's $5000+CAD 'technology' package. As it turns out, pixel phones (made by Google) do not support Miracast and require a Chromecast to be installed in the HDMI below the rear of the centre console. Second, the device, now connected via Chromecast, cannot have Bluetooth enabled and cast as the same time, making its ability as a phone, while driving, obsolete.
      Completely removing the DVD/BluRay ability was a bad call. Yes people are moving towards digital, but not while driving and not at the cost of additional data charges from their carriers..now I have wires running around my brand new 2021 van so my kids can watch Finding Nemo. Huge bummer. Other than that, the van is great.

      @@TheBrewery23 Excellent Points. The ideal would have been to introduce this new streaming technology while still offering the optional DVD player. Its much easier for the parents to pop in a DVD than to get a 2 year old set up to stream from a phone or tablet...not to even mention your comment about all the additional wires...I hope Toyota will rethink this and improve on it fast!
