Bro this reaction was a perfect example of how high the quality was this episode...my favorite epiosde so far but lets face it theyre all competing for that number 1 spot.
Last of us really shows that us people deep down will always be biased no matter the situation. Yes us viewers understand that if he didn't shoot sam, Ellie could have died. But if we followed the two brothers story instead of Joel and Ellie, 100% I'm sure the viewers would have possibly shot Joel, let Ellie die and then restrain sam in hopes to restrain and take care of him to a hopeful cure. There's no way we would have let sam die, turned or not. That's why the series took the risky dive with the 2nd game by playing as Abbey. It failed because our connection with Joel and Ellie was too much. Compared to half a games worth of time with Abbey... And to switch at the peak emotional connection that we had with Joel and Ellie?? That was a bad choice developers tsk tsk. If only they made the 2nd game a full on Abbey and her crew story and then a 3rd game where Abbey and Ellie come across each other having the gamer fully connect and empathize with both parties with the final fight ending with the gamer having to choose between the two, thaaaat would have been way better. Instead you're supposed to empathize with someone you hate so much you're okay with killing a pregnant woman without much thought at all.
A bite wouldn't hurt Ellie unless it got her in the neck and she bled to death - her immunity protects her from other bites just like it protects her from spores. *Spoiler* I'm really curious how she knew in Part 2 that kissing or sex wouldn't infect Dina. In Part 1 she thought she had infected David when she bit him and there is nothing we've seen in universe to suggest she wasn't infective since she carries the fungus. Did Joel catch a raider in between the games and perform a whole bunch of experiments?
