- The 2018 planes of Fame airshow featured the freshly restored P-47D Thunderbolt 'Dottie Mae', along with the museums razorback P-47G Thunderbolt, and 3 P-38 lightnings performing the show opening 'Missing Man' flight.
Thank You for sharing! Just hearing the sound of those engines is a thrill it self.
It's nice that that there is no music.
I never get tired of watching these old birds strut their stuff. Excellent video.
Packard ou Pratt & Whitney que de belle musique mécanique à entendre! Merci pour ce beau reportage tout à fait rêveur...
When it comes to Warbirds "Dottie Mae" is the most important AC flying today. It's great to have "Doc" flying, but an actual WWII vet like "Dottie Mae", heritage that can't be replaced, but I for one am glad the owner is not afraid to fly and display. She's done to the nines! Now if we can just get a Republic "Razorback" in the air! Especially one named "Penrod and Sam". Beautiful passes by the 38's and both 'Bolts. Stevie was in the "G"! Cool! Thanks for the vid
Nicely done. Great camera angles, great video capture. No announcers. no music - perfection IMHO.
There was too music. It was provided by the roaring engines of those beautiful planes.
Thanks for this upload. One of the best on YT. Your photographic ability is outstanding. In the right place at the right time. If all your work is this good consider me subscribed. Thumbs up for sure.
Republic P-47 D Thunderbolt . The jug ❤️
Canadian Air Force also used the mustang and thunderbolt in world war 2
AWESOME thanks for sharing. Nice to see 3 P-38's there they are rare. My Dad would of loved it that was his plane during WW2 Army Air Corp
Great video! Love it! Can't wait for the wife and I to move out there in a couple of years! I'm going to try to be at every show!
You have a good eye for shooting warbirds, many thanks. Love real sound of prop engine too
Nice video Voodoo, well done. Great to see the P47 and P38. I haven't seen either of these live in NZ, although not sure if any of these old Warbirds have ever travelled here. Would love to see some more American planes come to Warbirds Over Wanaka. Thanks for the footage.
Some incredible formation flying there,, nicely done.
Great video! I really enjoyed watching it. The P-38 and the P-47 are around the top of my WWII airplanes favorites list.
Music provided by Pratt & Whitney and Alison engine manufacturing co.s. Can't beat the sound of those old engines.
Great video!!!!! Now, the silver P-38 at this year's show is owned by the Collings Foundation, and the C-53 "D-Day Doll", isn't a real C-53, because she has Wright R -1820 Cyclone-9s, instead of Pratt and Whitney R-1830 Wasp14s, which means "D-Day Doll" is a DC-3B, made to look like a C-53 Skytrooper.
You and Fight to Fly Photography have the best aviation videos ever .. Clean sound of engines and nice quality of video! :
Awesome. P38 is simply supreme.
Awesome, awesome, awesome, thanks for sharing this.
What might have been if they had replaced the P-38's Allisons with Merlins?
I was at that airshow. :)
Great video, wonderful birds !
Fantastic video my friend!! It's always the highlight of my day when you post a video! That razorback variant sure is good looking!! Thanks for all you do. 👍👍
ryan moeller Thank you!!
Voodoo1650 Anytime my friend.
The older I get the more I come back to the P47 as my favourite plane.I even prefer the Razorbacks now, the true "jug".
Thanks for posting you excellent video!
Wow! What a way to spend the day blasting about in one of these. It just doesn't get any better. Thanks for an outstanding video with out that crappy music.
Man, look at all those P-38s! :-0
I love P 38s
Sweet old Gooney Bird.
I love to see planes fly in in the sky planes are cool
Wow spectacular video! Also, weekend pilots need not apply, I think, haha.
Only THREE P-38s flying here, I saw another one while they were parking 15:10, so at least four at the show?
Yeah, they had trouble getting White 33 to start before the show, so she never flew all weekend unfortunately.
@@Voodoo1650 Would you know how many 38s are still flying altogether ?
dirtbikechopper2012 Last I saw there is 10 airworthy, and I think there may be a few under restoration as well.
UN at 4:55, what plane is that? The p47 has a bubble canopy doesn’t it?
Shane K That is an early model of the P-47, they all had the ‘razor’ back until moving to the bubble canopy. The pilots of the early models complained of having limited visibility out of the small canopy on the Razorback versions, so the company redesigned it to the bubble canopy.
Voodoo1650 I see now, thanks. I think the razor back looks better but if you were flying it I can see how the bubble would be a lot better. Did they retrofit the Razorback or just start building them in bubble canopy?
Shane K As far as I know they were all factory built with no field retrofit’s.
Is this all in the town of CHINO CA ?
TheSirjohn2012 Yes, it sure is!
Rather one-wheel-low landing by the olive drab P-47. Don't the P-38s sound just like jets in the low passes.
Hey voodoo how are you
dogfights history chanel monchokayin I am good, thank you!!
I live in Connecticut, home of pratt and whitney engines, theres no pride anymore in company anymore, ct only pushing company out of state with over taxing. sad. once a huge amazing company, now just a shell of what it once was. if company made tampons, would be treated better in liberal low life state
The enemy(s) called the p-38 either forked tail devil or whistling death. But either way the p-38 kicked butt.
Whistling death was the F4U. But the 38 was "Der Gabelschwanz Teuful"...
I would take the Bomb Racks off that 47
Why??
Aerodynamic Drag - it slows the plane by at least 12 mph
Escape for Mankind is Keith Johnson Ok, I see your point, they just kept it as original as possible, all the way down to a working turbocharger in the belly. I believe this is the only one with a serviceable turbocharger!
Tax the hell out of Harley if they keep having China build parts for them.
