Our trusted source reports the new BiLevel cab cars have three digit road numbers (as opposed to the legacy cab cars that have four digit 23XX series numbers). One of these new cab cars (422) has been damaged with broadside graffiti across the lower windows and panels. The new BiLevel coaches feature five digit (42XXX series) road numbers (as opposed to the legacy coaches with four digit numbers). We have not seen these new cars ourselves, but I trust the intel shared given his strong track record. No word on when they will complete their journey to Stuart Mesa (Camp Pendleton) at this juncture.
I just saw a short video from Gavin RailFanning Productions that shows rebuilt coaster cab car 2304 leading coaster 644 out of Encinitas but many people including myself thought it would get a raised letter K5LA but it kept its horrid K5CA horn so I think NCTD is trying to have 2304 have the same horn as the CEM cab cars
As a person who loves and supports train horns,this was definately cool to see train horns honking in the downtown area.Brings me back to the days before San Diego became a quiet zone.
Amazing video! Really cool that you saw an NS leader too!
@SanDiegoRailfanner500: Thank you!

@@jamesreillytrains Thanks for the update! I’m excited to see them in testing whenever they arrive.

As a trolley driver, I abused this.
The horn on the (3000 series) Siemens S70 LRVs is excellent. Wish the 4000 and 5000 series LRVs had that same horn too.

@Blose774: We are in complete agreement! 👍🏽👍🏽
2304 is back but it’s in a mid set behind 2301
When will 2304 lead trains again it hasn’t lead trains in a long time
That is a good question. 👍🏽
