You know, if anybody has had good character development overtime besides Naofumi, it's the Blacksmith here. He didn't like the Shield Hero at first, but then he met Naofumi. He didn't trust demi-humans at first, and then he met Raphtalia. Now he treats them as equals and with respect. He's a bit underlooked, especially given certain things about him like his level.

Let's just Say that when he finds out, It is one of the best scene and the founding of their relationship.
She still has some childish mannearisms, so it makes even harder to him to see her grow up. Also, is actually sad that he cant see it yet: her grow up and power is the best sign that he has taken care of her very well

Raphtalia's purpose is to come back from a low place and help the guy who helped her out of the low place out of the low place. But when you see the story unfold you get really attached to everyone but the king, Malty and the three heroes church.

I'm not sure if it's the translation or just the direction they chose, but the manga had his armor being made with parts he found. It's main feature was it could be upgraded with items he found, and the main perk was they didn't have to explain him wearing the same armor.
Wdym, she only has one set of ears, later on when Filo screams Raphtalia covers her ears on top of her head, and you never see ears on the side. I love the tail ;-;

Maybe the twist would be better if Raphtalia still looked like a kid and she looked grown up after the fight with the Spear Hero and she was comforting him. Then we would be asking why Raphtalia is acting so much older and be in the Shield Hero's shoes, only seeing Raphtalia as a kid while everyone else sees her as an adult. Instead of us just asking how did she grow up so fast for nearly two episodes.

I have two theories: 1: her shirt was really long on her when he first got her, and now it seems to fit better, so maybe she just grew into it. 2: He might have just bought her new clothes if she seemed to be outgrowing the old ones. He clearly cares for her basic needs, so it seems pretty likely.
