Basically Muslim people Distributed throughout the whole china, they are Chinese, live in China since 4000 years ago. Uighur Chinese just one of the 56 ethnic groups in China, you can see big Hui Muslim groups in Beijing , hebei , Shandong Province, larger hui Muslim communities live in gan su province, Ning xia province (90% are Muslim) , shannxi province etc
I have been to China in 2019, It's such an amazing country. It's beutiful, clean, safe, advanced. I visited Shenzhen, The Avatar mountain and Shanghai. I think yiur friend is correct, there are a lot of cities in China that are developed and beautiful. Honestly, I feel Shenzhen is more develeped than Shanghai. The Avatar mountain is definitely like in another planet.
