You know what, I used to DJ back in the day, and wanted to get into music production just as a hobby just to mess around really in my free time, about 2 years ago I kitted myself out with Ableton, a push 2, audio interface etc and never had enough time to get my head round it, and it just was not fun. Watched one of your videos a week ago about the circuit tracks, bought one this week, watch your beginners guide and within 20mins I was away, having fun, its so easy. great bit of kit, wish i knew about it before. so nice to use and gets you away from the screen. Using the mixer to bring things in and out is loads of fun. great video
CT is a great choice for getting music going quickly and is very fun. Ableton and push are incredible devices, but require dozens of hours to even get started using.
my tracks and volca bass are coming tomorrow, this is just what I needed rn.
Want to lesson your tomorrow working! Could I?
That will be utterly heavy AF! :-)
@Rex Josue I live in Estonia. I tried to download flixzone, but I can't register and the application cannot find the Internet connection
@Rex Josue What is the Flixzone? Thanks
how are you enjoying it?
Man you master all genres. I would love to see you try From Goa To Psytrance, it will be enormous. Thanks for use A Force Truly Evil soundpacks and for that wonderful music
So glad you did a video just featuring its own capabilities. Even more appealing to get now. And I dig the tunes!
just ordered one - your videos are great, thanks!
Nice work! Very inspiring!
Cool idea for a video I hsve a bunch of these little tracks laying around I'm thinking it might be worth putting them together. Ps you've persuaded me to get a novation circuit, nice one. 👍
This is sick ! You are on fire 🔥
Damn. Your tracks are really good man.
This is exactly what I needed, thank you so much!
The Circuit looks pretty rad.
Come on Gabe, put that master filter at 11 o'clock or so, do it for me. Seriously, great coverage of this. I can't wait to see your output once the Circuit Rhythm is released.
Also agree with you that it would be nice to see Novation come up with a multi-tracking device. I'm thinking as alternative to the Verselab and similar. If Novation got into that market, they could base it on the Circuit and offer a more portable and a more full-fledged version with more tracks and features.
@5:31 sold..
The one at 4:30. So good
Niiice, you make these very appealing.
I'm thinking about getting an ipad to sketch with apps that export ableton live sets, but hardware devices seem so cool.
I have one of these and I fucking suck. Would love to spend one hour with you, truly love your ability on these kind of things. Keep it up bro
Loved this one!
Nice waiting patiently for more on the rythm. So I'm trying to hold off on the tracks. Definitely a nice piece of hardware.
O.o This serves as a demo for the OG Circuit, as well. Loves my Force Truly Evil Packs. But don't forget Dubsteppah!!!
Totally, I've made a ton of stuff on the original Circuit, so there's no reason to stop now with the Tracks! And yeah I need to make some more dubstep/riddim, the closest I got in this video is the melodic dubstep bit.
Beat 2 is my jam
Homie, you need to adopt a science fiction persona and hit the stage with this juice
5:22 is bomb
Hey nicely done, I am just curious as to your use of projects as opposed to scenes for switching between patterns, I’m a super novice and any advice would be greatly appreciated. Is it for tempo/time change stuff?
To be honest, it's mostly just force of habit... I got so used to doing that on the original Circuit that it became my default. I also like doing it because it lets me have stuff like mutes, patches, and long chains of patterns change all at once... It allows more drastic changes than scenes do.
The tempo doesn't change between projects, which is actually quite nice, they behave exactly like patterns when you launch them. When building up a set or a song with tempo changes, I jump into the tempo window and change the tempo on the fly. Check out my video where I made a song on the original Circuit that switches between 5 genres to see that in action.
Really love how you demonstrated the power of Circuit Tracks itself! Just wanna ask how do you normally mix and master the tracks after you make a beat on the Circuit Track? The in-built synth is taken from the OG and sometimes doesnt deliever the sound that I need
A1 as always
Can’t choose between Tracks and Polyend Play OG🤦♂️ Almost 2x price difference, but 2 times more midi tracks on Play (have 5 external synths) and ability to load not only drum samples. But tempted by the Tracks “simplicity”, hard choice🤷♂️
I'd like to see how we could pass these beats to full songs. It's always my problem with the circuit! Beats relatively easy to make, but transitions are not so easy
I'm sure I'll develop one or two of them into full songs eventually. I did a video a while back on how to make full songs on the original Circuit, and a lot of that applies to the Tracks as well. It's not as hard as you'd think!
just record it to a DAW, but also the new circuit tracks has scenes so you can chain a full song with 16 scenes
My problem was always that I introduced too much straight off, because I’d keep adding different elements. Now, I work backwards once I’ve made a beat. Bring in the hi hat etc, then something else, and so on. Tends to then evolve more easily. If that makes sense.
I'm thinking about getting one of these. Do you know what the best packs would be to perform TEED rhythm drums sounds?
Can you make plz a learning course, from absolutely beginner to pro? i would pay for it.. amazing.. got one but i dont anderstand how to work with it ^^
Great work, Gabe. You're still the best source for Circuit knowledge and inspiration. I noticed that you use different projects for different parts of the song, as opposed to the new "Scenes" feature. Is this just based on habit from your Circuit OG workflow, or do you think this is still the best approach on the Tracks?
It's mostly habit, although it's also because switching projects can change mutes and patches, which scenes can't do.
@@GabeMillerMusic Makes sense to me and thanks for the prompt response!
how do you switch between projects without an abrupt transition ?
Trying to decide between this, mc101, and Polyend Tracker.
I did a video comparing the MC-101 and Circuit Tracks a while back! I haven't done a video on the Tracker yet though
@@GabeMillerMusic That was a good video, thanks. I’m leaning towards something Elektron as the sound quality just seems so much higher in fidelity than some of the others.
Nice jams! However, why don't you use scenes instead of projects for making transitions? It is more simple, and it lets the other projects free!
Thanks! Part of it is that switching projects allows more things to change than the combination of patterns (synth patches, the actual content of the patterns, etc), and part of it is just that I'm super used to it from the original, so I usually reach for it by default.
And the your drums pack sound fat as hell gonna grab them now :)
Have you ever used the Elektron Digitone? I thought about what you said about the Circuit Tracks' ability to absorb other hardware and make it its own, and my understanding is that the Digitone can do something similar by routing its input ports to the master sends (though it lacks master filters like the Circuit Tracks does). I think my personal gripe with the Circuit Tracks is that its sound bank seems so limited unless you want to keep designing sounds from the computer. The Digitone has all that capacity built right into the hardware instead. Anyway, I thought it would be fun to see you review it and compare it with the Circuit Tracks. It's of course in a different price range, but then again you're getting virtually limitless sound design capabilities and four synth tracks (but no sampling abilities).
Could you make a tutorial for how to record the different stems into a daw? Thanks gabe🙏 you’re videos are great man
Thanks! I did a video on that exact topic a while back. It's a bit of a workaround, since the Circuit doesn't have that functionality built in, but it works.

But can it samba????
It seems to me that the on-board synths on the MC-101 are infinitely better than Novation’s. Since I already have an Arturia Minilab mk2, I was thinking of just getting the MC-101 and linking it up with my MIDI keyboard. As a complete beginner to grooveboxes, would you say this would be a more reasonable solution than getting a Circuit Tracks and an Arturia Microfreak? I understand that there is a higher learning curve on the Roland, I’m thinking more in terms of the best bang for your buck.
If you like the sound better and don't mind the learning curve, yeah I'd say you'll get more out of the MC-101.
@@GabeMillerMusic awesome, thank you for such a quick reply!
How do u even import rap samples in circuit tracks?
The Circuit has drum tracks that can take any sample you want, as long as the sample isn't too long. You plug the Circuit into your computer and use Novation Components
@@GabeMillerMusic wdym circuit ??
Cool! Is it everything recorded straight from the Circuit or did you made any audio processing?
It's recorded straight from the Circuit, and then I processed it a little bit after the fact with some EQ, multiband compression, and a limiter.
@@GabeMillerMusic So you didn't process it separately, you put eq, compression and limiter on the audio track recorded from Circuit?
Correct! Unfortunately there's no way to directly record the individual tracks during a jam, you have to record each track one by one. I did a video on that (called something like how to record/export songs on the Circuit Tracks) if you're interested.
@@GabeMillerMusic Nice! Thanks for the reply, i will check the video.
This is probably a dumb question but there's a few points it sounds like there are three synth voices. For example 6:05 when the lead comes in. How do you achieve this?
One of the synth tracks is pulling double duty... In this case, the same synth track is playing both the arp and the lead.
@@GabeMillerMusic cool, I didn't know this was possible. Thanks for the reply. Keep up the great work!
wow ..... ;)
Dude - 5:15 W in the Actual FFFFF (!!!) I rewound that like 3x immed after hearing it lol 😆 Dope. Can't wait
Make a new Video of Caustic 3
I'm not sure I'll make a dedicated video on it soon, but it will pop up in the video I've got planned for Friday, which is about a different Android music production app. Stay tuned...
@@GabeMillerMusic Thank U so much bro
