    I'm getting one of these soon so I decided to watch this video and wow. No regrets there. You get to the point and are good at doing it with a small bit of comedy on the side. You've gained a sub from me.

    yo a tip for you, you should do a slam test, is where you slam your desk and see if the noise of your slam is alot and the vibrations it follows up the mic stand

    Great review bro. I didn’t realise it had a 2kg weight limit. That’s crazy. I was thinking of getting one to mount my DSLR in the studio but wasn’t sure of it’s weight capacity. 2kg for the win! Sold!!!

    Can the end fully rotate to be pointing straight down? I'd like to use it with my mobile phone adapter to shoot overhead product shots.

    Got one for 30$ used and comes with phantom power supply and a mic+shock mount which i don't need. Great deal.

    Just drill that desk, you are always going to be using a mic, right? I think the inserts can work without drilling with those standard interchangeable desk inserts that some office desks have for cable management etc

    It would really be nice to get a measurement of the full length of each arm, to get an idea of the angle. If I'm correct after watching so many videos trying to guess what it is, I'm going to say about 22" each, so about 44" fully extended, Am I correct? Thanks. Also that little piece you drill a hole in your desk for is exactly what I need. Thanks for the video.

    1:40 - Correction: the maximum weight supported is 1.1 kg. I think you were reading the weight of the product, not the max weight supported.

    Great review. I bought one for my SM7B. But as you are moving it very far from the mounting point, mine cannot move there and “springs” back.
    Is there something I’m missing? Like this it is not usable for me since the mounting position is too far away….

    Hey, Shane. I really enjoy your videos, mate. Quick question please. If I buy this Rode PSA1 arm, can you suggest a dynamic mic w/ XLR and USB functionality? I record my audio on a Zoom H6 separate from my computer. However, I also run USB from the mic (ATR2100) to the PC so my guest/s can hear me on Skype etc. My ATR2100 is almost dead after about seven years. The mic must be compatible w/ the PSA1 if at all possible. Thanks again.

    I just bought this one too. But my my mic is not that heavy and i cannot fix the position i want. I watched a video on YT and the guy refered to screw more the first of the 3 circles-joints and that worked for this part of the boom arm, but i want the other 2 circles to be fully manually directed and i cant do that.Any help maybe?

    Recommendations on shock mounts for this particular mic? The one specifically designed for this mic is just a bit too bulky and wanted something a bit smaller?

    • @GeekyNerdyTechy
      @GeekyNerdyTechy  3 роки тому +2

      the clip it comes with is really small. You don't really need a shock mount for these mics if they are elevated off the desk.

    Such a good review. I was wondering what the rode mic was called?

  • @kanslim1732
    @kanslim1732 3 роки тому

    Hey, i have a question. In my shop there is two types of boom arms. The rode psa1 is around 80 dollars and there is a svive hydra for 40 dollars. Both of the microphones has a lot of happy reviews. Because i live 2 places i need move each week. That means that i need 2 of them. Is it worth buying the rode psa1 for the dobble price of the svive hydra?

    • @GeekyNerdyTechy
      @GeekyNerdyTechy  3 роки тому

      I haven't tried the Hydra before. If that is built well it might be a good option given it's cheaper but the build quality of the Rode is pretty bulletproof so far.

  • @chp617

    Does this boomarm make any noise when you move it if you’ve used it for a year(s) or so?

    • @GeekyNerdyTechy
      @GeekyNerdyTechy  2 роки тому

      It makes a little bit of noise because it's spring loaded but it's minimal. You hear it kind of slide internally a hair. Nothing that ruins a podcast for me at least. I am pretty sure I showcased it in the video. :)

    • @GeekyNerdyTechy
      @GeekyNerdyTechy  3 роки тому

      Mine are both pretty silent. Maybe spray some WD40 or similar in the areas it's squeaking or just have it replaced if you can. They should be fairly silent.

    The arm sucks if your mic is light the arm will not be able to be adjusted and will just remain extended

    Is only 1 enough for podcasts? If you Just move it around ..otherwise 2 bit expensive

    • @GeekyNerdyTechy
      @GeekyNerdyTechy  3 роки тому

      Moving it around would be a huge paint but if you are seated between two mics you might be able to use a dual diaphragm condenser mic to make it work (or a $10 desk microphone stand)

    • @GeekyNerdyTechy
      @GeekyNerdyTechy  3 роки тому

      There's nothing to stop you using most microphones for anything. This has a bit of a sizzly sound to it though which works better for spoken voice. It may just require a little EQ at the end of tracking.
