Fully agreed. Large logos like this can usually be only found on cheap equipment. Premium products usually have a small logo somewhere. What Rode has done here seems to be calculated at exposing their brand to everyone watching streamers using this arm. Disappointing.

Why would the cable Mangement ‘not’ be worked into the sleeve? The over-branded sleeve is also a deterant for many who don’t wish to be an advertisement for Rode. As an owner of the original this is quite disappointing. A lower profile mic arm would have been something many customers would be more interested in. Look at the Elgado low profile arm and it’s popularity, sleek design and good simplistic looks.

How to remove the obnoxiously large RØDE logos:
Use a steam iron to loosen the decals from the sleeve fabric. Peel off the letters. Use acetone to clean up the remaining residue.
The arm will look worlds better.

I was going to buy a PSA1 this week but didn't get around to it yet. Now I'm not sure. This is definitely better... but the price difference in New Zealand is about $70 (to be fair, that's based on the cheapest price of the PSA1 - MSRP, it's closer to about $50 difference), and that's a LOT of extra money that could go towards other equipment. I don't mind paying for good hardware, but I'm not so sure this is it.
The new head is nice, and the rubber additions to the desk mount are a must-have which really should have been there in the first model, but otherwise, it seems like the same arm except with a couple of ugly covers on it.
I don't _mind_ the external cable management, but the covers feel like a bandaid solution, especially considering they're making up at least half of this "new" product. Seems like it'd be a better and likely cheaper solution to get third-party ones without giant logos on them instead.
Honestly, the only real selling point for me is the mount being rubberised on both sides, but I feel like that should have been the case to begin with, and you can always get a different mount or modify the existing one, so again... I'm not really sold on this. I think I'll probably stick to my original plan of buying a PSA1. It'd be an easy decision if the price difference was much less, but as it is, I don't see $70 worth of extras over the original model (or even $50, for that matter).

  • @RavenSungOfficial

Couldn’t you guys have the cables internal to the sleeves? Why are they outside, being unsightly, when the market is always looking for cleaner / sleeker cable management.
Also that’s a nice big logo so you guys can have advertising without needing to pay streamers. Nice!

Love the new PSA1+, just bought 3, however the huge logo plastered all over the arm absolutely ruins the look for video applications. One logo, tastefully placed and sized, not a huge contrast from the background colour, would be fine. However 4 logos, very large type, non-removable adds up to a huge distraction and non-professional look for video applications. Viewers should be focused on the content, not huge logos from gear suppliers. I cut off the neoprene sleeves and we're all set! A pity I had to do that - sticking black tape over them looked even worse! Please consider tasteful and professional branding going forward as some of the other commenters have said. Turning your products into billboards for your company is too much.

I hope Rode will learn a thing or 2 from the Elgato Wave Mic Arm. like adding weight for heavier mics and make the springs even stronger. The logo on the boom arm is an instant contraceptive.

Great except for the the sleeves. The fact that they are not removable and even worse that the huge tacky Rode logos are an eye sore is causing me to not want to buy the PSA1+. It seems that the thought process here was that since the original PSA1 is so popular and seen in so many setups in so many videos, the PSA1+ is going to be just as popular if not more popular so you put those big ass logos on there with no way to remove them except by cutting them in order to get some free advertisement by way of product placement in the videos of people that will use the PSA1+. The thing is most folks would rather permanently remove them by cutting the sleeves off than have that eye sore in their videos. Or they would just stick with the original PSA1 which is still great and save money in the process. If you would have made the sleeves removable with something like velcro and made the logos smaller and more subtle, the PSA1+ would be perfect. I'm actually in the market for a boom arm and I'm buying the original PSA1 over the PSA1+ in order to have a nicer classier looking product and not look like I'm being sponsored by Rode...
