I'm a 70 years old retired paramedic instructor with some cardiac conditions. My daughters started taking me hiking on our long road trips to National Parks and other areas of the country. Get some "Trekking Poles" for your hikes. I didn't think I needed them but believe me they made a word of difference in the amount of energy I used when hiking. Also going up or down trails, the poles make it much safer by providing extra stability and balance.
They also work great when you sprang your ankle or need to make a splint for yourself or someone else. A lot of times mine are clipped to the back of my pack, but I am almost never without them.
I remember that place! Although I was never dumb enough to climb it...lol. back in the early 80's I worked for the U.S. Forest Service, and I was stationed in Colorado Springs for 2 years as a part of the wild fire strike force.
Who knew a video about climbing steps could be so entertaining?! I laughed way too much at your struggles.....but you were hilarious! Thanks for another great and entertaining one!
Well done Mike I'm huffing and puffing just doing the stairs in my house you rock but I would have picked you up at the bottom and helped you celebrate. Lol
I rode the Cog Railway to the summit of Pikes Peak in 2008, It was fantastic, it was May 6th and there were areas the train went through snow banks 29ft high. The top was fantastic, it was bluebird clear and you could see the snow peaks of the Continual divide to the West, New Mexico to the South and the roof of the Denver Airport North East. It was a bucket list trip.
OMG...I thought the 207 steps up to see Arch Rock on Mackinac Island was rough, lol. Congratulations! I think this is gonna go on my bucket list! I know what its like to be passed by people. I did my first 5k. I never walked...I jogged the entire time but I was passed by people walking, lol. No matter what "just keep swimming". Congrats again, that was awesome!
Eish Mike: Girls are multitasking, They just keep going (Poor Men). Less talking just keep going. I would need a ambulance on standby. Good work Mike. Another exciting video. Thank you.
When I was stationed at Ft. Carson we used to do that for PT. It got so that I'd go do it for fun some weekends! It looks a lot better now since they did much needed maintenance!
“This fat body was made for downhill…” what’s funny about that is Erin just said that you’re looking trim & svelte, Mike! Looking good, dude! This hike reminds us of Monserrate in Bogota, Columbia. Starting elevation was 8k ft and we finished at nearly 10k ft… I (Brian) ended up with altitude sickness, which lasted for a couple of months. That was rough! Fun vid, y’all! - B+E
Besides emergency splints, if you are hiking in areas with rattlesnakes, other possible dangerous animals like bears, mountain lions, etc. or even 2 legged predators, the trekking poles could become a weapon which saves your life especially if the protective rubber tips over the carbide points on the ends of the poles were exposed.
Well done Mike very proud of you climbing that mountain that was a hell of a climb your buddy did it with no problem was definitely beautiful scenery. The trip down was definitely a lot easier thanks for sharing it with us. God bless yall .
That was a big piece of HUMBLE PIE! As we get older it's okay to be passed while being focused on you and not be worried by others, they will catch up too! Proud, you should be!
Great job Mike! You are a hoot out there. The more you struggled the more I was thinking, "Oh shit. Rhabdomyolysis. Hope he drinks a lot of water." LOL!
Yeah but jasper would have not been no match for the San dunes hehe he would of been out of breath too…. On hikes like that I dream of the food I’m eating when I’m done hehe only way I every complete and make it back to the car lol. Tks guys
Sometime during the fall or winter you should head up to OR and see the Hampton Lumber Smiley Face that is on the side of the mountain. . . . Also was a recirculating shower a thought at one time for your shower?
Well done
Awesome 👌 you did great, I would not be able to do that, you should be proud of yourself. 👍👍👍😃😃😃

Mike you are in better shape than I, That was a lot of work.
If I made that hike when I got to the top I'd dislocate my shoulder patting myself on the back.
😂😂
Great job Mike! You are a hoot out there. The more you struggled the more I was thinking, "Oh shit. Rhabdomyolysis. Hope he drinks a lot of water." LOL!
Mike you’re a beast! I don’t know that I could have done that climb! Congrats on making it!
Mike, so how did you legs do in the second and third day after. As a 'old guy' I don't think I could have made it. Nice.
I completely expected my legs to hurt but it's actually my two hip joints were a little bit sore. Other than that no problemo
Also I like the new ending, looking forward to a new opening :D

How long for EMS to respond
They said it would take a minimum of 2 hours for EMS to reach you on a rescue.
We should be in the kind of shape where we can run up this !!!
