Tip, a painter of 40 years experience showed me how to remove paint from tricky spots. Wrap a wet cloth around a paint scraper and one can remove excess over paint with precision.
Glad to hear you recommend sealing the bottoms and top of doors Bill, I've replace all my external doors because the bottoms rotted out, no paint on them at all from the original build.
I wish you had made this video 6 years ago when I painted 10 doors with the brush and at the same time listening to the criticism of my husband and children 🙉🙉. I also have to take a break to cook meals for them😤. But now I will definitely use the roller.. and ask them to order food from my favourite takeaways.
Glad I watched your video and learning you need a particular roller! I was just about to paint a door with a normal roller! 🤦♀️ loved the tutorial clear and to the point. Thanks Bill! 😊
your "how to" guides are very easy to follow. just one request though if i may, would you also do a "how to install rain shower head". i want to replace our single function ball joint shower head. thanks very much!
The area should be rolled after cutting in whilst the paint is still wet. This is easiest to do when the door is hung so you can paint the whole door in one go👍
@@billshowto thanks for your reply ! I love your videos, you explain things very clearly. I want to repaint our doors as the house is 1994. I can’t find any videos about stripping the paint off the doors if that’s what you need to do ? Or do you just sand them down ? I’m a beginner mate , I’m learning. 😂 I just painted the bathroom and toilet and that’s a big deal for as I have never done it before 😀
Most people won’t want you to know so they can charge you to do it. I teach people how to do it themselves so they can save money and not be taken advantage of 👍
Best DIY channel on YT hands down - easy tutorials and solid advice. Thanks from NZ :)
You’re very welcome 👍

So true , we encounter it almost everytime we work on exterior doors

Excellent job 👍🏼 can we have a video of painting oak doors ☺️
Any tips on putting in a door handle in the wrong place and having to start over again? Filler, sand and paint (matching)?
You can fill an old location with a filler like bog or bondo, however most times it would be better to replace the door 👍
Can you show me how to paint door with panels please, thank you for help😊
Could cut in be done when doors off if completing the painting same day?
The area should be rolled after cutting in whilst the paint is still wet. This is easiest to do when the door is hung so you can paint the whole door in one go👍
Could you also have pained the rear of the door before mounting it to avoid cutting in between the hinges?
Bill can you tell me how to fix this? The new door wants to slowly self close but only a bit. Still very annoying how do I adjust that??? Cheers mate
what about those doors with patterned?
What if the door has “grooves” or patterns?
Use a brush first in the groves then roll the face. If you use a small roller you can generally get into the groves with a roller also 👍
@@billshowto I am talking about deep grooves. (ones that go into the door like 0.5 inch and are about 1 inch wide).
same process 👍
Hi Bill. You don’t prime the raw timber edges?
I thought exactly the same. I guess it isnt a problem?
Doesn’t you lay off with the brush
How come not the top of the door? This always gets picked up on building reports
👍👍
How to create a rocket science project out of door painting😂😂😂.
Making a post to sate the hunger of the algorithm deity.
Bill, did you sand the door before painting mate ? 😊
No it was a new door👍

If the old paint is in good condition you won’t need to sand.
Why not just paint it all when it’s off the hinges ?
It's painting a door not national security secrets. Why would no one want us to know this?

@@billshowto I'm just about to paint 5 doors..I was having a coffee before i started and this video popped up..Thanks for all the advice.
You’re very welcome, all the best 👍👍👍
@@billshowto Thank you..I should be painting but looking through all your videos now lol..The WD40 is great hack.
Should’ve undercoated the edges first.
