    I love the chord changes to this song, especially the Em7b5 > A7 > Dminor part. Any questions let me know in the comments 👍🎸 You can download the chart at my website:www.jazzguitarwithandy.com/standards
    A viewer pointed out a little error on the onscreen chords. I'd written E7b9 a fret too low, I've correct this on the chart over at my website.

      😅 Uncanny that! Just at that time when you have come to accept nasal hair and thinking that cardigans are acceptable, the stuff that your mom listened to on the radio also starts to make sense! You start to appreciate Dave Brubeck and the smell of coal tar soap - whoever thought that fragrance would smell good in the bathroom? Nostalgia ain’t what it used to be!
      I’m with you!

    Nice little walk thru. I think this is one of the best tunes for practicing minor ii-V-I language. There is a minor ii-V going on nearly every second of the song :)

    Hello, thank you for this lesson! Wanted to mention that this is originally a Russian romance genre song written by Jacob Feldman and published in 1914.

    Hi Andy, thank you so much for this eloquent, brilliant, friendly und understandable jazz-chord tutorial. Despite I am no native english speaker it was, because for example of the chord/bar overlays, easy to understand. 5 stars!

    • @Duende70
      @Duende70 Рік тому

      @@jazzguitarwithandy I was too silly to switch on the subtitles 😅- but the YT translation-mode anyway is always medium quality. Your suggest about to find yours and other english-speaking tutorials is easy to answer. Most of tutorials are! In my case I try round about 10 vids to find "original" chord-diagrams as overlay, that your tutorial is also so well explained was a matter of luck too. Thanks again!

    hi, you have great educational videos your ideas for starting to build jazz vocab and improv skills are the top tier I've seen on YT. You definitely deserve much more subscribers. I was wondering any tips you have for creating strong melody and vocab skills that connect well and coherently? Ive seen some of your other videos about using triads etc i was wondering if you have other tips?

    Lots of info. Although I’m in the bottom of the progress ladder so would be nice to have a path to cover the pre-requisites to this level as well. Thanks. I must say that you are doing very good explanations that I don’t hear often so once I get to a bit higher level, I feel your way of explaining things can be even more useful. 👍🏽

      Hey, thanks for the comment. I think learning off UA-cam can be hard to find the right thing you need for that moment in time. More than happy for you to email me about where you've got to so far and I can advise on what things might be best to focus your time on.

    Thank you so much Andy, I learned so much from this lesson. I knew the chord shapes so it wasn't too difficult to follow. Now I can play it and I've learned it to 2 friends thanks to you! One question left. Why are you playing a C6/9 instaed of Cmaj7 ? I don't understand why it sounds so nice. Again, thank you ! Btw, between all your explanations I learnd also how to play a percussive rythme, soooo rich and dancing ryhtme !

    • @jazzguitarwithandy
      @jazzguitarwithandy  6 місяців тому

      Glad to hear it was helpful. It will be because the melody note is a C at that point. C6 or C6/9 will be a better fit that C major 7.

    I might be crazy, but I think the chord diagram in section A for E7(b9) might be off by one fret. The diagram as pictured shows finger placement on frets 7 and 8, but it looks like fingers should be on frets 6 and 7. Am I right, or reading the chart incorrectly?
