The randomiser has logic in place to prevent soft locks, so that won’t happen. Well, it could, but then the heatblade won’t need seeds. This depends on whether he has vanilla chains enabled or not. The heatblade thing, that is.
God, that initial titanium recipe. If you crash on 4546B and see _THAT_ , that's when you just fill your pockets with rocks and start walking into the ocean
The battery recipe is hilarious, it actually contains the materials to craft a battery, but it also takes four times more of them. The randomizer literally just took the battery recipe and made it more expensive
Gotta love the initial sea glide recipe, it took 9 wiring kits, each wiring kit took 9 batteries (so 81 batteries), and each battery took 9 peepers. So in total you would’ve needed to collect a minimum of 729 peepers to make the Sea Glide lmaooo
@@32BitJunkie You can modify it quite a bit with notepad. There's instructions on the download page. It doesn't give you full control, but I play "regular" Subnautica runs on hardcore with randomizer and it is a perfectly enjoyable experience as long as you don't crank it up to max. I also had a start on the floating island and it kind of sucked, especially since I have a mod that adds more leviathans, so there were a bunch of leviathans between me and the shallows. At the same time, it was quite exciting when you have to go into open water and can't outrun the monsters or hide forever unlike in vanilla.
Uh dude when you make a seaglide or like a scanner, it comes with a fully charged battery, just use that by taking it out. It's more time effective than going and crafting batteries
That first spawn wouldve made a pretty cool alternative for the safe shallows opening. People would think oh its just a tiny island and then eventually wanna swim to the aurora once they get bored of the island and thus actually discover Subnautica proper
There s mod for it, called island spawn(if i remember correctly) It makes some safe shallow resources spawn on floating island like copper, titanium, creates crasfish caves after them mini kelp forest analog , seaglide fragments, and also you have crafting station inside one of mountain degasi observatories
The way that the randomizer mod changes crafting recipes is pretty interesting. It seems like has pools of ingredients based on how many crafting steps it takes to make them, and then replaces a crafting ingredient in a recipe with another from the same pool
Yeah it must not be completely random, since metal salvage makes 4 salt, then all the habitat components seem to have their titanium replaced with salt
@@Darth_Wader07 its probably to help stop the randomiser from making it impossible to progress (making a knife with something that has to be cut by a knife) and also to keep the general structure of the crafting (Vehicles cost lots of materials, smaller things cost less materials)
3:52 dude those crafting recipes are insane, for a single piece of glass you need at minimum, 64 peepers, 90 eye eyes, and 72 floaters….. and all the other materials you need
5 other people have probably said this already, but if you craft a scanner/habitat builder/seaglide/whatever's easiest, you can just steal the battery out of that
So I saw this video and immediately went to install this mod. Wow I underestimated how difficult this would be. Spawned above the Grassy Plateaus close to the Dunes and it was a HIKE to get anything. Especially when my recipes required fish from on the other side of the safe shallows. On top of that I found every cyclops and prawn suit fragment but have yet to find the seaglide, mobile vehicle bay, and I need synthetic fibers to craft the high capacity O2 tank. My life is pain :)
I remember doing one of these, it was quite fun with all the quirks it presents such as needing deepwater materials for early items or having to use almost you entire inventory to craft an item, even just finding blueprints/databoxes like the compass in the dunes. If your looking for a way to test your knowledge, I highly recommend this mod.
I feel like the randomiser should have taken the original Subnautica idea of "max of 3 of the same ingredient" for a recipe, cos 9 peepers is already bloody insane. This might actually be kinda fun if it wasn't for so many recipes needing 7-9 of something
Some interesting notes: -Your seaglide, while massive in inventory space, is pretty cheap to make and can be dropped. It also, coincidentally, comes with a battery inside. -Focusing more crafting stations is your best bet. The prawn suit for instance requires with this run a moonpool vehicle upgrade console and a modification station, both of which will unlock a host of other random items that might be in other crafting recipes. This is also a reason to get the cyclops - for its upgrade fabricator. -I'm not sure how the game is handling discovering items, but you might be able to get random blueprints by picking up fish and plant cuttings and such, if they're component ingredients of some random item or another. Or it might be that picking up the non-randomized ingredients unlocks it. Either way, something to go for. -The island start might not have been that bad. Yes, it lacks conventional resources, but the amount of random plant cuttings and whatnot might've given a few recipes if you got lucky. Plus free food. -It will be important to remember that fragments seem to be consistently replacing other fragments, rather than each location being completely random. Good places to look might be (aside from the various biome-based pools inside wreck treasure rooms, given the laser cutter requirement, though a couple only require the repair tool and/or a good light and oxygen supply) the jellyshroom caves, the sparse/grand reef, and the surroundings of wrecks since they spawn some lower level fragments around them. Any one of those could be where a crucial fragment type has been moved to. -As some others have mentioned, the mod seems to sort crafting recipes into complexity levels - say, a computer chip, which requires three different types of items, one of which is crafted from a further type of item. So the mod will make it two types of items you can pick up, and one which needs to be crafted from things you pick up, and the amount seems completely random (I assume in a range determined by the amount of things that it can take normally, which would range from 1 to 10 because of the titanium ingot). So the crafting difficulty of something is not that much harder than it would be normally, and the main thing screwing you over - other than the ridiculously spread-out fetch quest of gathering all this pointless stuff - is, again, when it gives things locked behind crafting stations. Get all of those and it should be pretty doable, albeit annoying with how unfamiliar all the recipes are. - 19:35 I'm pretty sure all three of those are found in the bulb zone. Regress shells may be somewhere else but they're medium depth plants, in caves I think. Ghost weeds spawn in the mountains and bulb zone for sure. The titanium ingot is the annoying part for the laser cutter.
Well before i start this video, id never though to randomize this game but it sounds sadistic, and i never wanna do this myself so ill watch this guy inevitably suffer.
Hear me out, you could’ve made tools like the scanner that already come with a battery and take out the battery from said tool and used those batteries instead
I reset until I got the bulb bush zone. Talk about a pain! But it was doable. There are brain coral at the bottom so if you can memorize where they are and safely travel between them, you can get resources to get yourself going.
Loved watching the video! You're super funny as well. I really hope the Subnautica randomizer follows Hollow Knight Rando's footsteps so that we'll have randomized movement in Subnautica's rando. Imagine having to craft the ability to swim up💀
Well, the usual way to play randomizer in any game is to look for late-game items with easy recipes. Fins cost 4 kyanite crystals? Well, it won’t matter, if you can make ultra glide fins for two peepers and three pieces of silver Edit: this comment did not age well
bro forgot you can get diamonds on mountain island also for runs where you start deep you can stay under for awhile by using brain coral instead of resurfacing, basically mandatory for some of the deathrun locations
I once tried this randomizer on my own and some of the basic items (such as rebreathers and power cells) wree locked behind magma fish, and the vehicles required certain deeper resources 😭Its a peak mod.
I just started this mod myself yesterday. If I could give one piece of advice after a half dozen hours, go straight to the Floating Island, scan the growbeds, and start bringing back at least 1 seed of every plant you find. Especially if you end up like me and it takes forever to get the Vehicle Bay (I still don't have it). I'm running around with just a Seaglide and Fins, but I got lucky with the Ultra High Capacity o2 Tank, so I made a second one to keep in my inventory to hot swap to. I also downloaded the Detailed Map Mod so I could start marking off Wrecks as I loot them to save what little bit of sanity I have left.
In the early game for vanilla, since the repair tool takes cave sulfur I use that to get a supply of quick batteries and keep one for the later Cyclops repair module. Cave sulfur like the floaters is non-renewable though, so hopefully no recipes need it.
My favourite way to play this game! Look on the bright side, at least your run isn't brain coral and outdoor grow beds as your logical progression to hit the 500m Degassi base like my last run was.
