  • This is the very best compilation of Larry Bird's dunks. Although Larry Bird is known as a shooter and a low post player and could not jump that high. Larry Bird have many jaw dropping dunks throughout his NBA career.

    Yeah that sums up Larry Bird's career.

    Bird could and did dunk through his prime, just not very often. He said layups were safer and tended to only soar into a dunk at opportune moments for maximum dazzle and demoralization, like that 4th quarter fast break in 1984 game 7 against the Lakers-and for the record, that was Cedric Maxwell passing to him, not McHale like the announcers said.
    The point is, since he usually didn't do it, his fans and teammates loved it and were boosted by it when he did. Even now, I enjoy seeing these, so thanks for compiling them!

      Bird was more interesting in winning games than showing off, so it made more sense to take a layup than to dunk.

    Steve Nash and Larry Bird are the only players who have had multiple 50-40-90 seasons. And ... Larry could dunk, as this video proves. Best passer and overall player ever!

    There are plenty of players who can run faster or jump higher, sure... But I'm tired of the narrative that he wasn't athletic at all... This video clearly shows that he wasn't slow and could dunk with ease. He's not amazing or graceful to behold or anything like that but he's moving well for a man of his size at 6'9. Sometimes I'm not convinced most people even realize what it means to be classified as "athletic". Too many people want to set the bar ridiculously high and say that if you're not flying through the air like Jordan or LeBron then you're physically weak or something.

      Bird is athletic, strong and smart can jump but not higher than Lebron and Jordan but he can beat both Lebron and Jordan

    Would of loved to see Larry Bird in the glamour HS scene that exist today. Imagine if Bird had elite training from age 12 like todays players get. Thats why i laugh when new gen people say they wasnt any good back then..this is pure talent in this era. Imagine if they only played bball and got elite training, dieticians and trainers..

    • @silverblackguerrilla4370
      @silverblackguerrilla4370 3 місяці тому +1

      Training? You think that's why players are better in the future? So that would mean that the players in the 50's and 60's would have been just as good as the players in the 80's 90's if they had the same training. You do understand that training in the 80's and 90's was FAR more advanced than the 50's and 60's don't you? Way bigger of a gap in elite training then the 80's to today
