- To Clarify I really enjoyed The Last of Us 2. Played on Survivor loved the combat. I played stealthy and it made me work at it (wasn't perfect of course). In terms of the story at the end of the first game as soon as the credits roll my first thought was "if there's a sequel Joel must die". So especially for a couple of years in my mind eventually someone caught up with him from the hospital and killed him, so although the way they told the story wasn't at all perfect, I was expecting it. I have a good friend that is a writer IRL, so I totally have to respect the story that writers want to tell whether we love it or hate it.

But a lot of loyal fans of the original franchise did, even if they knew the result was gonna be the same, a massive failure of a sequel. That's what I have found funny since the beginning, I'd see comments about '' only real fans know this is a good sequel '' but once confronted with the question '' why is it a good sequel '' they instantly stop writing further comments. When you hit them with one of the many stupid things in the story like why was a pregnant woman who was due to give birth fairly soon allowed on a dangerous mission?. The answer? So Ellie could become the new big baddie for killing a pregnant woman. Don't forget how they also banked on Ellie being a dog killer, really shoving that thing down our throats about '' Abby is good she likes doggos, Ellie no good she kill doggos ''. You can't make this shit up, but oh wait Naughty dog did.
Ngl, as a huge Jurassic Park fan, hearing Joel reference both the Original and The Lost World made my day

The one thing that this game finally admitted.
Not many people know this but Naughty Dog was actually fully aware of how divisive this game was going to be. Neil Druckman said they showed it to a test audience and half of it hated it. Bold decision.

the first game ended with a lot of open ended questions, it needed a true sequel to wrap it up

@@SangoGamingChannel Exactly my point, one quote can sum up literally the whole story from both games. "Everyone's a Villain in someone else's story". The writers of the first game and this game even brought up that quote in interviews. There are actually Heroes and Villains in both games but it depends squarely on the point of view of whom views them that way.

@@SangoGamingChannel Yeah I'll agree with the messing up part. The game needed to start with Abbey I think and have us go through her life up to the point to where she decided she needed revenge. If they could have done that properly (I believe they could have they hooked us on Joel and Ellie almost instantly through the story in the first game)...I think then that the game/story would have been ALMOST perfect. Imagine spending time with this new character, getting almost as attached to her and then seeing Joel from their perspective killing people like a mad man. I mean at the end of the first game, I was kind of like WOW Joel is pretty dark, but of course it was easy to understand his decisions and why he did it. If they could have somehow done that with Abbey BEFORE SHE KILLS JOEL, I just feel like it would have clicked better instead of the way it turned out.
The unintentional foreshadowing here is incredible.

I think that out of the first three movies Lost World was the best. I think the first still holds up but I agree it should have more love.
Let’s be real The Lost World is actually a good movie and from all the criticisms I’ve seen are usually from idiots that got a lot of things wrong with their attention to detail being way off and mostly based off of nitpicking.
It’s ironic this game tries to diss The Lost World when fact the game’s sequel is actually a dumpster fire and is in no position to trash talk The Lost World. At least that movie was entertaining and didn’t go out of its way to make you hate it.

Most of the Jurassic Park sequels, especially Jurassic World, are hated on for "not being the original," but are still great movies (except for JPIII and Fallen Kingdom, they're okay, I guess).

Jokes aside, The Lost World is 100 times the better sequel out of these two, and the type of sequel Part II can only dream of being.
I love the lost world, it was the first Jurassic park movie to come out after i was born so it was actually the first one I remember watching. But it didn't add anything to the message of the original, the point of the movie is "greed is bad and people don't learn" with an added environmentalist message. The practical effects in Jurassic Park kick the everliving shit out of the CGI in Lost World and it was a much more culturally impactful movie. The characters were less memorable in TLW, the writing wasn't on the same level, and it will forever live in the shadow of the original. And I'm saying this as someone who will generally defend it when people talk shit. I cannot say the same about part 2, it may not be perfect but of the two games it is far and away the better one. the plot of the first game is the same one told by Up, God of War, Logan and so many other stories. Old grizzled and distrustful man is forced to change through an unconventional form of fatherhood. The ending is what differentiated that story and it would not have been right for Joel to come away from something like that without some level of repercussions. while I agree that there tends to be some tonal dissonance between the amount of brutality in part two and it's message, at least the story is trying something truly different. it's feeding off the negative energy from the original and doesn't hold any punches. if the story were something along the lines of Dina slowly getting Ellie to change her mind, or God forbid Joel just getting to survive being attacked by firefly survivors, it wouldn't send the same brutal message about the consequences of the characters actions. It's a worthwhile story that absolutely fits into the first without being reduced to a mirror image of it. The other story related complaint I have heard is regarding playing Abby for half the game and that's what made the game work in the first place for me. By showing her perspective as a continuous narrative and ending the Seattle arc as her fighting Ellie as the antagonist it just solidifies the idea that Ellie and Joel were the villains in her story all along. honestly one of my favorite narrative choices in any video game I've ever played. The ending was a little sloppier but in general I have to say I much prefer having Ellie show character growth and realizing the futility of her actions rather than just mindlessly continuing the circle of violence. so the story wasn't perfect, but it was bold and innovative, and the rest of the game nearly was perfect; iconic level design and set pieces, some of the best graphics on the system it released on, much more fluid combat, controls and animations, better in almost every technical regard to the original.
Finally somebody said it!
I love practical effects and the Trex family is super memorable for me.
While TLW might have downgraded characters, it more than made up and stood its ground as a worthy sequel for the improved Dinosaur scenes!

"impact" aka shock value and bad writing in the worst way possible it's so contrived the fact that Joel and Tommy just lose all their survival instincts pisses me off so much. + Barely any zombies in Tlou 2 unless the story calls for it then an army of zombies spawns out of nowhere or a knockoff resident evil combined all of zombies in the hospital.
Remember in X-Men: Apocalypse when the kids are walking out of seeing Return of the Jedi and Jean says “The third one is always the worst one.”

you're saying it like they're not fully aware that sequels don't hit as hard as the original game. we all know tlou1 is a masterpiece, so the team had a tough act to follow. they knew that people would hate this game no matter what they did, so instead of trying to please everyone they gave us a bold and unexpected story even though many would hate it. the real fans understand last of us 2. the brainlets who just want a cliche zombie game were never going to like it, but that's why we have games like Days Gone, for the more casual audience

My headcanon is that all of the flashbacks happened, with Ellie discovering the truth, but then years later she eventually forgave Joel and they are still living happily in Jackson. Ellie just had a bad dream and imagined the events of the sequel

Kind of like Creepshow 2. I saw that movie first with my Grandmother, and I find that my mom had the first one. Although Creepshow 2 isn’t insulting like the last of us 2 was, but yeah I agree it isn’t as good as the first one.

I agree with most of this except for what you said about the AI. Cuz enemy AI in this game is pretty stupid. You can kill one and wait for another and then kill that one rinse & repeat. There's also the fact that if you go prone behind a dumpster or something for a while the enemy will think that you went somewhere else somehow even though you hadn't moved.

The story sucks ass, gameplay is alright for casual gamers. It’s just a walking simulator with occasional encounters but naughty dog games weren’t much about their gameplay after uncharted anyway so the story makes up 70% of the game.

the game literally rushed and made the most dumb scenario to kill joel they literally rushed joel to die in the first 20 minutes of the game in literally the worst way possible this guy survived for 20 years survived many ambushes killed hordes of infected killed lots of men wiped out hospital full of soldiers and then we see him rescue someone and he doesn’t ask what the hell are you doing in this blizzard or who are you or even what is your name in the intro he told tommy what he has done in firefly hospital to save his step daughter ellie and when he sees abby i think he has dementia because he forgor someone might come after him after that hospital massacre and then he literally accepts the invitation to go to that stranger’s house knowing it’s full of other strangers he don’t know about and don’t try to say “he had no choice 🤓” “they were surrounded”🤓 it seems like ever since he moved here he was still on patrol because he is paranoid and hes been doing this for years and people thinking that this is the first time they were surrounded by a horde in a blizzard which is likely happens in jackson but in game they want us to believe they had no choice but to go to some house in somewhere which for some reason the house is well tidy but not captured by jackson people they could go back to jackson horses are faster than infected and it’s a blizzard infected will lost them anyway and they have walls a fucking base they can take down the horde but anyway they go there and looks like there was only 10 infected caught up to the horses which are from the forest not from that place they were surrounded looks like they have evaded them and then they go in not a single paranoia and holstering their backpack on their horse like “we won’t need it anyway???????” And not grabbing their pistol they are all relaxed with 10 strangers in the room surrounding them tommy is so relaxed he asks for towels while bending over to a counted joel goes middle of the room and tells them his name like i said i think he has dementia or garbage writing and then he be surprised “y’all seem like you’ve heard of us or something.” Bro are you fucking serious like no shit and
then abby has dementia too because “people” call “her” a “good person” or “best character ever” because she would never kill anyone without mercy right? But joel saves abby and abby doesn’t even show mercy because “he killed my father oh no”
joel had to kill his father they were going to kill his daughter and he pulled a knife on him and then we see ellie having sex while joel is being murdered and she goes there and we see abby changed clothes your “good person” has beat that old man to death so much she even had time to changed clothes she enjoyed every second and she still do it while ellie who is her daughter begging, literally begging to “her” to stop and then tell pull like how john wick’s dog’s murderers did, put his corpse there and she wakes up and sees his brains in the floor. Did they really said “oh yes fans will love this game?” I literally just explained how the game is garbage of one scene of the game I didn’t even start

Set the game chronologically in your head, the story makes so much more sense when you have all the flashback scenes set up the premise for the game, instead of the Andrew Ryan treatment happening like 2 hour in.
They should’ve done like Beyond:Two Souls where you can either play through normally or chronologically
