    Finally someone who zooms in properly! It is so helpful to see the finish on the skin.

    Thanks for the review. Great job. I did notice that the Westman is not acne safe so if that is a factor the Merit would be a better choice.

    I couldn't agree with your thoughts about the foundations more! And it's so hard to find honest reviews about their products. The Minimalist is easily the WORST foundation/complexion product I have ever tried. I have SLIGHTLY dry/combination skin and am only 25 years old. The Minimalist is AWFUL of my skin & I have tried absolutely everything to make it work - full moisturizing primers, mixing it with moisturizers, using dewy serums underneath, everything! It ages me & gives me SO much texture. It also separates immediately on the skin. Their other products for the most part are just okay.

    Excellent review and thank you for zomming in. I already own the Westman Atelier foundation, but was thinking of trying the Merit foundation; but seeing as I have dry skin and the Merit didn’t seem to perform well over your drier areas, I’ll be passing on the Merit foundation and sticking to the Westman Atelier.

      And with the cost/g, it ends up being worth the upfront cost for the WA!

    I just started using Gucci’s and so far I love it. My skin is drier now and love how it just blends into my skin and it doesn’t feel dry at all with it on. I use number 2 as well. I just use my fingers to smooth it in. I haven’t tried any other of their products. Thanks for this great information!

    Awesome review. Thank you for always being my go person for clean skincare and makeup! Great video- I have to say after watching your comments - I am Team Westman Atelier. Even though they are more pricey - you get what you pay for - so thanks again for telling it like it is! Blessings and Satnam!

    Hi, Belle. I’ve had a few mascaras dry out on me if they hung around too long or if I forgot to tighten the cap( only once.) Going in to separate them only made it worse so I grabbed one of the disposable mascara wands I bought in a small pack. It made all the difference in separating the clumped lashes. Now I keep one in my cosmetic bag at all times ( wipe it off after every use , you can use them multiple times. Clean with mascara remover once in a while.)and I use it every time I apply mascara. It was a game changer for me. Even my go-to mascaras benefit from a little separating. PS: Love that you zoom in close.

    Your zoom is seriously 👍🏼 Very clear and close enough which makes watching comfortable. I’ve seen videos where they show makeup from like 6 ft away 😵 or zoom really close only the eyes and pores are showing. Thank you for this video. For me, I will always choose WA over Merit simply the packaging and quality are up there.

    Awesome, helpful video! I have yet to try either brand but am interested in both. Sephora is carrying both brands now! I was considering getting WA for an all over face foundation and using Merit for concealing bc it is dryer so I think it might crease less in the under eye area. However I wanted to hear your thoughts about that idea...

    • @GabrielleMeloff
      @GabrielleMeloff  3 роки тому +5

      I would try using the WA as both your foundation and under eye concealer. It works well under the eyes in my opinion. You also don’t want anything to dry under the eyes (plus it’s an expensive concealer if you use it for that). The other thing is the merit is light to medium coverage.
      Try WA first, and if you need another concealer give the Ilia one a try

    Team WA, even though i have not tried Merit! Your video convinced me I don't need to try Merit... Also I have not yet purchased the WA lip suede palette but until then i use the WA blush color as a lip color and sometimes a light wash of eye shadow color as well. Finally, by mistake i ended up wih two colors of WA foundation and the lighter one works really well as a concealer. I can't recommend buying two because of the expense but it does work nicely.

    I have been using Kjaer Weiss cream foundation and love it, but would be interested to see a comparison of Westman Atelier and Kjaer Weiss. I only use foundation in my T Zone to help with evening out skin tone and not full coverage since I have good skin to begin with. Especially a wear test would be helpful for this comparison.

    • @GabrielleMeloff

      I can definitely do that. I have used the KW before but I had to destash because of how old and dry it was. I do find the KW to overall be a drier, stiffer formula compared to WA

    • @commanderjoy4927
      @commanderjoy4927 3 роки тому +1

      @@GabrielleMeloff In cold weather the KW is stiffer in the pan, but you need the warmth of your fingers when applying to help it melt. Brushes don't work as well, although maybe in summer they might. KW recommends their "Beautiful Oil" for proper slip when blending, but I just use my Korean AHC moisturizer and it seems to work fine on my normal skin. I'm hitting pan on the KW, so very curious about WA. Their packaging is luxurious but impractical for travel and not sustainable, although I read they are coming out with something different.

    I purchase the Westman mascara in the full size from Goop and I was so disappointed. It was so dry and flaky. I threw it away..which killed me because it was so expensive. I tried it a few times and just couldn't do it. It has made me shy away from the other products. I do have a question, how are these stick foundations any different then Bobbi Brown's stick foundation that has been in her line for years?

    Merit has great marketing, unfortunately I had one of the most disappointing Customer Experience with them. I was supposed to get both the Signature bag and Summer bag accdg to my confirmation email, but none arrived. When I asked for it, they gave me a free shipping voucher which is about $5. Now I wish I spent all $120 on Westman Atelier instead.

    How do you find Merit and Westman wear in the SUMMER months? I just bought Merit today as my local Sephora didn't have Westman and I just couldn't decide which shade to buy going off online photos alone. So I went with Merit Complexion Stick in Dune and the Flush Balm in Cheeky. Living on the prairies our winters are very dry, but now I'm wondering how these will hold up in the summer!

    Yayyy I’ve been waiting for you to do this comparison!! Very helpful. I bought Merit in linen and love it (my skin isn’t dry right now though)...will try Westman Atelier next since it is actually more economical per oz, who knew?! Will be interesting to see which one performs better for you in summer months. I do have acne prone skin so am a little hesitant about the coconut oil in W.A. I love the merit highlighting stick in bounce and the blonde brow product as well. I have W.A blush in Chouchette and love the formula-want to try petal at some point-would love to see swatches of all her blushes. Not super interested in Merit blush because it seems like you really need to build it up.

    • @GabrielleMeloff
      @GabrielleMeloff  3 роки тому +1

      The merit might work better for oilier skin types which I should have mentioned! But definitely give the WA a try - I know a few youtubers oilier/acne prone skin who still love it. So the % of the coconut oil may be very minimal.
      I only have 3 blushes (I’d love to add more but I’m trying to resist buying more than I need and will use). Petal is a great colour though!

      If you have dry skin, and you wake up and your skin is more dry than normal, just applying moisturizing skincare doesn’t just smooth it out immediately. Doesn’t quick work like that
