LOL - influencers can say whatever they would like. But for me? I simply do not impulse purchase based on the likings of someone I don't know. OBVIOUSLY they are receiving some sort of payment for every click on an affiliate link, and I am find with that. Good for them. For me - it's entertainment. Kind of like this video. I love it! It's entertaining for me to watch different channels, and pick and choose what I would like to have. Because there are cute things out there I might not have seen otherwise.
But influenced by without intelligent aforethought? ? Nope.

When I had a much higher income, I felt a certain responsibility to support American-made where I could find it versus something cheap from another country. Paige jeans, for example, fit me like no other and so I was happy to buy them. I understand if somebody can't afford American-made because it is more expensive right now, but when even people who can easily afford it, buy the cheaper things from a certain communist country that has been stealing our business, they should take a breather and connect the dots that we are shooting ourselves in the foot when we do this. We have almost completely lost our manufacturing base because of our own greed, and we scratch our heads and wonder why our economy isn't doing well. And because of our miserliness, I'm afraid that we have stolen our children's and grandchildren's futures. I wish we could get out of our own self-absorption and start doing what is the right thing to do.

I went to China many years ago for business and I had a shocking eye opener. So many things are made in the same factory by the same people with similar materials. Some big brands commission so many items and attach their label and price tag. Less well-known and marketed brands are produced the same way but dont have the hefty price. We are actually paying for the brand, not the quality.

As a young person, I always had a leather or suede coat that I wore as my everyday coat. I think your mistake is thinking of the leather blazer as a special piece that you are saving for an event. Put it in your coat closet and when the weather cools down just grab it and wear it. It looks great on you and will elevate anything you wear.
As for jeans; totally agree. I am loving good old Levi’s and Land’s End or LL Bean. The higher the cotton content the better. They last forever and I am pulling the high rise, straight jeans I bought years ago out of the cedar closet and wearing them again. Pleated pants can work very well with a slimmer fitting top. They can make your waist look very small when done right, but they are definitely not for everyone and I don’t see them being a popular option at the moment now that so many are struggling to wear shapes that make them appear either slimmer- or shapeless. Pleated pants can add some volume to the lower half- but when done right this can visually make you look slimmer overall. Having a careful approach to balance the top and bottom is key.

It's definitely very important to look at the way jeans especially fit around your bottom, so I always hold a mirror up or take a photo on my phone. Jeans pockets that are normal size (definitely not small) and closer together are more flattering on my body, I'm slim but hips and booty are my widest point so I'm always trying to minimise them.

Thank you, for sharing! I have similar experience with trousers! I have learned that they should be:
    - high waisted
    - flowing, light weight fabric
    - longer cut/trim for a heel to elongating your legs and for the same reason:
    - pointy-toe shoes, or longer toe loafers
    - top needs to be more fitted
(In my case I like v-neck) to support verticals. I follow the formula: fitted top + volume bottom or vice-verse fitted bottom + volume top.
I also have few leather pieces that just sit in my wardrobe and they look good, but no occasion to reach them 😕
Love American Eagle - I feel like they are pros on best jeans models for any body shape. Sometimes I order from Old Navy since they have an option for tall. I’m not a big fan of jeans and usually choose solid deep color
I appreciate recommendations on your best substitutions❤ Will look closely on those.

I would somewhat disagree with you there. As a 55 year old post menopausal woman, my body isn’t the same shape as it used to be and some styles and items I used to wear regularly don’t look good or aren’t appropriate. Sometimes you have to try new trends to find what suits you (or not) and and what you feel comfortable in. I tend to shop secondhand though so if I make a mistake, I just donate it back to the thrift shop and haven’t wasted too much money.

I think fabrics can overwhelm our smaller frames so it's important to have a more tailored fit. I can't tell you how many times I've had to put back pants, shorts, skirts and dresses because of all the extra material.
