This is not my regular client, I only see in the summer when she comes to spend her summer here. She wears normal polish (not sure of the brand) and as you can see, she has some significant nail surface damage (this is not dryness). Nail polish can cause oxidation so damage of the keratin.
Keratin oxidation (carbonylation) as an early marker of nail plate damage bit.ly/3tyghEd
She wanted her nails "short, short, short, as short as possible" and as you can see she cut her right big toenail way too short and this is a prime example how things can go wrong and cutting this way can lead to ingrown nails. The sharp corners were left behind and I had a really hard time rounding them out gently so I would not hurt the client (this client has a thin, sensitive skin).
I didn't film the exfoliation part (there was barely anything to do) and the massage because frankly, my battery was low.

Thank you for this comment. I thought it was fungal infection
Do you think the tool for ingrown nail with a thin file is maybe a better option?
Thanks for showing your viewers how to care for elderly feet and toe nails. I am currently practicing on my husbands hands and feet as well as my own. My 82 year old Mother in-laws feet and hands need help. I noticed last week when she asked me to paint her nails for a wedding. I was heartbroken to see the shape of her nails. I shaped them and put on a polish she liked. My work was rewarded with a Greatful smile I wear my nails short and use oil on them using your technique.Thank You so very much.
I've hit the Like button, but somehow i feel it's not enough. This clearly needs a Love button!
Wow; thank you so much!!
I just want to say how much I admire your gentleness with your clients. It’s inspiring. I truly want to get my license and do this professionally because of professionals like you. Thank you for sharing and for respecting your clients. ❤
Great video!!!!! I have mature nails (70+) and would have loved to hear your voice over saying what you are doing and why. I have so much dead skin around my toe nails and am not comfortable using an electric file so how would one deal with this dead skin problem without an electric file? . PS: you're the absolute best - thank you for such a helpful channel!!!!
Hello Joyce! This was a paying client who kindly agreed that I will film her pedicure. We chatted so I removed the audio.
I will try inviting her for a pedicure at no charge so I can film it and explain what I do. When I talk and explain the service takes me longer too so that is why in this case I don't charge the client :)
Most of clients don't really maintain their feet. They come to me to help them. If you maintain your feet properly and do regular DIY pedicures you can totally have managable feet.
Do your pedicures every 2 weeks in this case. Use Kerasal after each shower and massage it into the hard spots and put on fluffy socks.
E-files are professional tools so I don't recommend using them if not properly trained
@@TheSalonLife Thank you so much for your response to my comment! And thank you for explaining about the voice over. I have started doing my manis weekly & pedis every 2 weeks and have already started to see a positive difference. I will add the Kerasal as you instructed. Thank you again for all you do :)
Anna was so gentle with this client. Nice job ❤
Question about the middle toenail on the left foot (on the right side of the screen)
I have a similar issue where the nail looks like it's curving/pinching on one side.
Is this fixable or is there a way to help it feel more comfortable?
It's impossible for me to get a nail file under it to file it smooth as it's a very small nail & I've always been told not to cut/clip the side of the toenail, especially when the nail is short.
For years I've been too embarrassed & scared to get a pedicure, as last time I got one it actually hurt when they tried to clip that toenail.
I rarely see a nail like mine, so I'm jumping at the chance to see how you treated this clients nail 😊
Thanks for these 'watch me work's videos - they're so interesting & helpful.
I get that same damage from wearing my polish constantly so I wondered what should I do differntly to either fix it or prevent it? My new growth is fine, like hers. Thanks so much for sharing.
Anna you did a good job repairing these nails. The client should be happy ❤
Great video once again. ☺️😁. It’s so so helpful to see you work on toenails. I have badly ingrown toenails so it’s always a challenge to clean the sides of my nails. I always learn so much from videos like this. Thank you!!😊
Same, the sides can get painful too.
love your videos! they‘ve taken my fingernails to the next level. do you have anything up on your channel about toenails that have gone flaky/spongy due to pressure from shoes etc? would love to hear your opinion!
This is an amazing job.. ..she must be thrilled with what you have done ...pure talent!
You are a true artisan in your field! Wish I lived by your salon because I would be your weekly client!
Me too!
Wow, so gentle but thorough. You have a magical touch. Well done!❤
You made this lady very happy with those beautiful nails!
Thank you! 😊
Wow, you did such a beautiful job on her. You are so gentle yet effective on those tough spots.
Thank you so much! I hope to do follow up video :) I will ask her to come in 4 weeks :)
@@TheSalonLifeI would love to see a follow up video if she comes back!
...I think the lady was very very happy when you were finished with the treatment ! good job !
You are so amazing. Thank you for sharing all your videos on nail care.I’ve learned so much ❤️
Thank you kindly!!
You are so amazing at your profession!! Unbelievable before and after. Love these kind of videos!!
Beautiful job. I have similar color on my toes with a chrome. I want to get my medical license so I can offer this service to elderly patients in my area. Could you share how you maintain your tools, and a follow up on her.
Hi Anna! Would you please do a manucure video on a client with fragile, thin cuticules (I forget the name of the skin around the nail!!🤦♀️)that easily bleed or rip if the technician isn’t gentle! Thank you❤
I have just recently found your channel and I am so thankful! I have ordered your nail kit and I am excited to start doing my own nails. I have had pedicures and fake nails for several years. Finger nails are weak but I believe with good care they will grow out strong again. I was wondering, do you recommend going without polish for a time if you see the white spots on your toe nails?
Thank you so much for ordering the kit! Regarding the white spots. They usually are the worst on the big toenail which takes about 1 year to grow out completely so in order for them to grow out. You might want to try to prevent new white spots from happening. Changing polish more often, or going 1 week with polish and 1 week off (if you are very prone to them), using nail and skin oil with antioxidants (like jojoba, grapeseed, sweet almond etc) after each shower. During the break from polish 1-7 days use OPI Repair Mode twice a day to condition the nails. See if that is helping and if no new white spots are appearing then continue until the existing ones grow out.
@@TheSalonLife Thank you so much!
What a beautiful job!!! So satisfying to watch 💜💜💜
Amazing, thank you! I've been wanting to do this for my Mom's feet. Invaluable, appreciate this!
You're so welcome!😉
Once again a wonderful video! Thank you! The client must be very happy with such a good result!
The side wall nail rasp would be perfect for those side walls on the end. Great job!
I am even more impressed, Anna! What an excellent, thorough job you did!🎉 You really are an expert at what you do.🥰
Thank you for a pedicure video! You do such beautiful work and your polish application is perfection. 💅❤💅
Hy Anna! Again a question from me🙈. Sorry that it has nothing to do with the great Video but do you know the product called " Duplex"? If yes what do you think of it? Thank you for your awesome work. It helps me so much getting honest answers from a Person who knows what she is talking about 😊
Hi Anna , I did not get my summer pedicure this year ,because keeping on the polish for three or more weeks gave me those dry white areas on my nails . However, I have been doing my own pedis once a week . I still get some dry nails .They look better once I oil them for a few days and keep polish off until they look better . So I guess it’s the polish that is causing this ! Anna do you agree ? Enjoyed seeing you work with this client . I want to see how her nails improve over time .❤
Yes, nail polish can cause the damage but it's not dryness. Nail polish raises moisture level in the nail so it's not dryness.

Ps. I'm not sure how much progress we will see because she is only here for the summer.
Thank you 😊
❤
Wauw!😮 what an awesome before and after. You did such a jood job with this client!👌❤
Really great job. What's in the spray bottle? 🤔 Water?
Alcohol based cleanser
Fantastic transformation Anna! Bravo 🙌
Absolutely amazing work and result! Beautiful.
I would have walked out feeling like a princess with such a wonderful pedicure ❤
Is it okay to ignore white superficial onychomycosis when giving a pedicure?
Depends where you are and what are your local health regulations. This client does not have WSO by the way :)
Anna, I love your videos! 💅 I recently scratched my nails with a sharp tool while removing the cuticle... 🤦♀️ It doesn't look good and I feel bad that I damaged the surface of my nails like that. Is there anything I can do about it? Or do I have to wait a few months for my nails to grow out? 😢
Hello :) Good news and bad news. Bad news is that there is no way of "fixing" it but the good news is that the nail will grow out
I would maybe add OPI Repair Mode when you can and weekly jojoba soaks to keep the damage from getting worse.
@@TheSalonLife Thank you 🙏
Hello how can i get them
I'm very serious about this job please help me

Wow! Sie sind eine Künstlerin. Bravo !Diese Person muss so Glücklich gewesen sein nach ihrer Behandlung!
Love watching you work! I’m wondering what is causing that damage to the nails?
Nail polish can cause oxidation so damage of the keratin.

@@TheSalonLife thank you!
What an amazing transformation!!!
Thank you :)
Why do my toenails yellow from polish? Do I need to use something special? My salon says I shouldnt use otc polishes (Opi, Revlon, etc,) but special salon polish
What do they consider a "special polish". All marketing. The only polish that does not yellow the nails that I know for sure because I have been using it for about 4 years is Dazzle Dry.
👉 Why polish yellows nails. Chemist explains bit.ly/3QSkU2O
You are a miracle worker. That's all I'm going to say.
Thank you :) I honeslty love my job :)
I got burned by a file from a pedicure at a medical spa and it got infected pretty badly I now have an ice pick like scar on that toe where the nail grows inside what can I do it’s super painful whenever I go to my new medical pedicure
😢
How do u recommend cleaning your tools at home if it’s just used on yourself ?
Wash with a brush, soap and water. If you want soak them 10 min in 70% alcohol. For personal use only
What did you charge for this treatment?
❤❤I sure wish you could done mine! I thought I was getting toenail fungus but now I know it is mature nails 😂. I need someone like you to make my toes look that GOOD!
what causes toenails to get "thick" ? especially the big toe? i remember many older people in my family like this(mostly the women)
now, i'm getting up there and keep watch on my toenails.....waiting 😳
It depends. It can be trauma or fungal very often
Where is your shop? Would love to come for a mani /pedi to you. Steffi
Wow! I am so impressed by this transformation! You are an artist! Thank you for sharing your videos. I have learned so much! Perhaps one day I will find someone as talented and knowledgeable as you are, here in central British Columbia, Canada. Best wishes! ~Christine ❤🇨🇦
Thank you so much!😊
Aaah, the drill. Dumb me allowed my last pedi to drill the top of my toenails to remove old polish and they're a wreck. All white on the top. Looks like stuck glue. I'll be doing home pedis like your diy in a previous video, but I'm 65 years old and staying bent over like that stiffens my back. Not to mention the big tummy getting in the way 😂😂
Oh, and he also pulled off the inner 'ingrown" toenail so deeply that it went down to the cuticle and bled like crazy. Now it's really pinching but I'm hoping to help coax it back up 😮 I'm referring to the effort you're taking around minute 23. Once he lifted it off the skin, he pulled it all the way down to the cuticle. Ouch
No cuticle softener or even water to soften the dry toes?
No, that is the key. The whole purpose of dry pedicure is to use e-file and do it dry.
E-file allows me for a very precise work.
Water softens the skin too much and then it’s more difficult to tell what is what. When the skin is in its natural state and not soggy with water I can tell which skin is hard and which is not.
Water does not really moisturize nor softens long term. For that regular use of creams needs to happen.
Wow, what a transformation!
Can you show manicure for mature hands? 😊
No soaking feet first ? What speed do you use on electric file?
No, I use a disinfecting spray and hot towel sometimes. I use the e-file on 10,000 rpm for the detail around the nails and 20,000 rpm for the exfoliation of the bottoms of the feet with a round disks.
Wow. What a beautiful job.
i love the soundtrack, girls!! yaay
Beautiful work!
what are you spraying?
Gehwol Lotion (alcohol based cleanser)
goog job ❤
Anna, i was wondering about the discolored and misshapen nails. Did this client have a nail fungus? If so, should nails with fungus be polished? Thank you for another informative video.
Hello there :) Thank you for the questions. No, the client does not have fungus. Fungal nails look different. It's very common for nails to become thicker and the skin around them callused with age and also due to improper shoes. Also often when people get older they have hard time reaching their feet and maintaining them properly.
If I suspect fungal infection I would not polish the nails and I refer the client to a podiatrist for a treatment. It's very important to treat fungal nails ASAP and that cannot be done when the nails are polished.
Do you have video on why you don't soak the feet like thousands of pedicure places do?
Thanks!
Thank you so very much!! ❤️
Wow! You’re the best 💕
VERY WELL DONE ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you!
beautiful!
Which files do you use
I’m testing something so I can’t be more specific right now :)
Good job
Thank you :))
Here for the pedicure NOT yet just another music !
Czy ta klientka sama sobie tak te paznokcie przycinała krótko, czy ktoś jej to zrobił i doprowadził do takiego stanu?
Tak, ta pani mowila ze sama tak go wycięła.
I hate the feeling of gloves. It takes all of the enjoyment out of the pedicure.
Thank you for sharing!
I need the ASMR sound😢
This was a paying client kindly allowing me to film so we chatted and I didn't record the audio,....
❤
How much do you charge for this service?
How rude !
@@pamelawoodall5891 why?
45€. 21% tax included :)
I really don’t think it’s rude. People are simply curious :)
@@TheSalonLifeIt’s not too slow if you charge $45 plus tax. I charge only $25 for regular pedicure so we have to finish in 30-45 min. In my salon the customers sit in a luxury pedicure massage chair and soak their feet in warm water. We also have a spa pedicure $60-$70. That takes an hour because we do callus removal and 10 minutes massage.
If her toe nails are too short then mine are micro short lol If mine get to that length I end up scratching myself in my sleep
It’s the big one really (right one) :))
🙂
Pedicures are my least favorite to watch, unfortunately. Not a foot fan 😂 Bring back more hands!!! 💅
Anna you are so good, very professional and gentle . Love watching you do these pedicures . ❤
Thanks!
You're welcome! Thank you so much for the donation, we greatly appreciate it! :)
