Massively underrated band, musically and lyrically. Unfairly lumped in with a 90s genre they utterly transcended. Great to hear them be critically appreciated, even with one of the more obvious choices of single.
My favourite Bluetones song. I went to see Mark Morris perform an acoustic gig a few years ago. He was amazing. The levellers were on the same night. Have you heard the Levellers? Hope street and the liberty song are two of my favourites.

Love The Bluetones - probably the the most underrated 'Britpop' band. Try the song 'Bluetonic'! - it's a belter! (That's Yorkshire for very good)

Cut Some Rug and Slight Return are a couple of gems.
The goid band that I yer to see.....
The lead singer was an alcoholic ...when he says "I'm dry" it's an appeal a girl to say I am not THAT guy anymore

"it's all that I can do to sing these stupid songs to you" sounds like he's really singing this to the crowd live, as if all he could offer the world is his songs, quite self deprecating. Think they pretty much end every gig with this.
the 1st Bluetones album was SO special and wonderful and jingle jangle splendor----the 2nd album, where this is from----was AWFUL. They'd totally lost their sound. Surprised you'd do this song and not "Slight Return" or "Bluetonic"
Slight Return is a classic.
I love the second album slightly more than the first.

There is a band called the Shamen who are more known for their electronic trance/rave type stuff, you might have heard of them.
before all of that they were a psychedelic rock band and they released an album called "drop" in the mid-late 80's.
EVERYONE needs to hear that album, if you've never heard it I'd love to see some reactions, it's easily one of the greatest psychedelic rock albums of the 80's if not all time and well worth checking out.
Shame they veered off in such an odd direction, I mean some of their later stuff is still pretty good but we lost something special when they abandoned their roots.
Bluetones are awesome - I love finding channels like this, it's like finding treasure!
