    .........your a good friend for helping......and that orchid was lucky to be placed in your care.....my phals are outside and get rained on all the time......never had crown rot issues.....its a myth.....as long as they have calcium around them......it will never be an issue.

    Oh, poor baby 😢 I was so shocked to see that scale went for my phals as well. Many years ago, I was loosing phals to what I thought was stem rot because leaves where yellowing at the base and falling off. Just thought it was me and my SH set up. Well, when I saw scale one day, I was happy it wasn't me, but, so mad that the scale had buried themselves so deep into the leaf joints, I couldn't see them. Garlic alcohol has been the game changer for me since, no phals lost because of scale again. Happy also, to see that no leaves are yellowing at the base on your rescue phal ... sorry, Ange's ❤ she is so much happier without those nasty stowaways 🎉 saludos from Spain to you and Hapi ❤❤

      Give them a night time drop in temperature for a few weeks. 10 degrees should do it.

    Mine are 10 or more years old flower 2 tines every year. Actually do not do that much to them. They live in a bathroom.

    Question can I repot an orchid in a clay pot ?

  • @rachelkillcare5203

    Spikes expend energy not give the plant energy surely?

    • @JuliesOrchids
      @JuliesOrchids  28 днів тому

      Spike use much energy to form and bloom. After blooming, the plant can re absorb the energy from the spent spike. Leave them on until they either 1. Are re absorbed by the plant- turn brown and die off or 2. Rebloom.

      @@JuliesOrchids so you’d let the plant rebloom off a old spike but recommend the owner not let it rebloom off a new spike? Wouldn’t that take a similar amount of energy for the plant ?

      @rachelkillcare5203 for this particular plant, I would not let it bloom at all until it’s more established. For a set back struggling orchid, don’t let it bloom. For a healthy established plant, leave the spikes on.

      @@rachelkillcare5203 If you have a set back unhealthy plant, let it absorb the existing flower spike -cut it off when wooden. If the unhealthy plant spikes, let it grow to bud...then cut the spike of the unhealthy plant. Getting the spike of an unhealthy phal to bud and then cutting it..tells the plant to grow roots and leaves.
