The Ocean Chemical Works were still in existence in 1945. In October 1935 the management applied to Ramsbottom Council for building an extension to the works. Mr. Kolkin of Prospect House, Ramsbottom, was the manager of the Ocean Chemical Works. In 1983, the land passed to the local authority, who turned it into a nature reserve
All that area was my playground growing up as a kid. That one house left standing was derelict back when I was a kid. Used to ride my bike all round there, and there were BMX type lumps built up on the chemical works site. Such a great playground area as a kid, having the park, woods, and surrounding area.
The old ruins are like a hidden gem that you would normally stumble upon unexpectedly. But the history of it all is amazing. Thanks for the shout out as always Matt.
Oh very interesting.I live in Ramsbottom and close to what was Nuttall Village. My family ,Barcroft ,have lived here from late 17c Century and some of them lived at Lower Nuttall so it could be they too worked in one of the factories but will do some more research now! Big thanks ,it was very interesting.
Brings back memories. I used to take my nans dog for walks round here. Came across the chemical works by accident. Really freaked me out as i got the feeling of constantly being watched and really bad vibes as though a lot of people had died there. It's a lot more overgrown now, though, from when i remember it. But then this was the early 1980s
haha there is a place in nottingham called nuthall thought it was that 🤣 Apart from that blunder from myself lol , this place looks epic love the old ruins shame to see them like that but what can you do? thank you for uploading again we all love your content 👍

Mine too. Early 1980s for me. Used to take my nans dog for long walks in Nuttall Park and the little stream at the back.
Thanks for watching. A great place to explore as a kid for sure 😊. All the best 👍

@@matparks08 Anytime matt :)
Ace stuff Matt and Tom..👌👍👍
Thank you 😊
Interesting but Nuttall Village wasn’t where the park is - it was at the bottom of Nuttall Lane
Thanks for watching. We tried to follow the map we had, but it's tricky deciding where things are when it's just a flat park today. 🙂

Just for info - the village of Nuttall was on the other side of the house you talked about - 17 Lower Nuttall Road.
I remember Mr Jepson Nigel I think
Yeah, that's him. 😊
