When Ava said “we should get this onto prison radio” I really thought she was going to land it with “because it’s a captive audience”. 😅
PrisonTok? Come on Ollie I thought better of you, it should clearly be called NickTok
no doubt the guards have their own counter-community over here on ScrewTube
Starmer: "Overcrowding prisons, or letting criminals out early. Which will it be?"
Sunak: "I know you are, but what am I?"
“What are you going down for?”
“NOT NONCING!”
I’m not sure not noncing is a criminal offense, Oli.
"These days, you say you're not a nonce, they throw you in prison"
Ava set him up so well for that, it’s almost like she’s still beating Oli at chess.
"your honour" cracked me up so much! If I were among the production crew, I would have had to leave the room.
@ILikedGooglePlus When did that come in? Are you saying... if you say you're not a nonce, you'll be arrested and thrown (thrown) in jail?
@@ooombasa5080 It’s PC, GONE MAD.
I have to commend Ava, those Politics live guests from the Conservatives are possibly the most egotistical and self important idiots I have ever seen on TV, and Ava coped extremely well in keeping her composure, talk about passive-aggressions!
Definitely a force to be reckoned with. Horny 6th former? Nah.
More of her being our voice.
Less of Ed. Just saying.
Sunak has more plans than Baldrick, they are just as functional.
Yes, but does he have a thingie like a turnip?
Paul got very sweaty 😂😂😂 big mad when Ava said about "what conversations have YOU had" on vaping
Not sure whether it's a deliberate decision, but today's intro not having 'Ladies and Gentlemen' tagged on felt real nice.
I'm aware that people using the phrase aren't trying to exclude us enbys but we do exist and we do appreciate a move away from binary norms so I'd welcome the updated intro if it were to stay.
Thanks for the content, folks. All the love! ❤️
go off monarch 👑
Thank you folks, your such great media medicine..❤
Watching PMQs makes me feel grimey and somewhat sullied
True, honestly.
51:54 “I think he [Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar who suddenly and unexpectedly resigned] was scared.”
“Scared of…?”
“Scared of my invasion.”
Stephen Flynn was the star of PMQs today.
He usually is.
Biggest takeaway from this: I’ve got a hard time trusting anyone who doesn’t like the LOTR trilogy
It is a bit close-minded to decide after 10 minutes that it is not worth watching.
@@Lamartine111 Not to mention the first 10 minutes kicks so much ass, it comes out the gate with a large, world-ending stakes battle. What’s not to like?
@@Hi-fd4cwTo be fair, it is exclusively dudes except for the voice over for the first 10 mins. (Just to be clear, I also think LOTR kicks ass, including the first 10, but I can see why someone could just switch off)
One thing that could help in terms of the cost of housing prisoners and building prisons etc is that instead of giving MP's a golden handshake, sterling pocket watch and large pension when they lose their seat simply tell them to adapt to the country as they left it and use that money for the prison service !!
This demure clapping is fine. But whispering would be better. Close mic whisper. Thats the way.
Already watched PMQs, just here for the chaos
My sad life means that every Wednesday I watch PMQs rawdog, then come to PolJoe and James O’Brien for reactions afterwards
Y'all were on good form today 😅😅😅. I nearly pissed myself laughing
200th Episode "Live from Wandsworth"; Robbie Williams eat your heart out !!
Somebody needs to animate an incredibly awkward moment at Olly's trial where they play this clip of the two of them laughing about him killing a man.
When people say they think LOTR is boring... I know we could never be more than acquaintances
Its the equivalent of being a flat-earther or scientologist in my book.
@@benghiskahn3673 haha great example 😆
Leave Laura alone! 😡
Good pubcast 🤠💜
P**cast
The Starmer was a lawyer is associating him with headlines about "leftie lawyers".
Working hungover in a hot kitchen. Not fun, no cure
Working in a kitchen hung over is hilariously hellish, because the sympathy levels are negative, because we are all hanging or hiding it
Did Ava make a Gary Sambrook dig against Oli at the end 😂 normally nit proud if my area but the Graffiti "Gary Likes Big Dinners" floored me
The Sword of Mordaunt pedluates behond thee Rishi
Great chemistry
Gawd, sometimes I watch this show and it makes me *_REALLY_* smoking weed!
I honestly thought Oli was going to say: "I could do with a trip to a clap clinic". 😀
This system is a disgrace!
Soz for clarity, I’m referring to PQT! Eva you were very good & concise on PL today.
As an ex prison officer, not a screw , not a warder, an officer, served at Manchester, Long Lartin and Reading I wish you’d taken this more seriously.
Labour neutralise the tory newspapers' criticism of radical policies by suggesting Thatcher also enacted radical policies.
Ollie, you and I are going to fall out. A Twirl is a top tier chocolate bar every day of the week.
The Ed impressions are hilarious
Petition for a book and film swap challenge, you could both try and raise money through sponsorship for a local library or arts centre. Ava should read The Letters of J. R. R. Tolkien: Revised and Expanded edition, Tolkiens translation of King Authur and Beowulf, The Silmarillion, The Hobbit, all three Lord of the Rings books (or listen to the Andy Serkis Audiobooks, which I highly recommend). All this before listening to the entire Howard Shore complete recordings soundtrack for all 3 films, all 9 hours. Also to read the first Dune book. Then watch the Peter Jackson LOTR Trilogy Extended Editions and the two part Dennis Villeneuve Dune adaptation. In return Olli should read books by (if he hasn’t done already), any author Ava recommends along with watching some of her favourite films. You could then do a review podcast on your experiences.
Tuned in for the first time to this, to listen to UK politics. Why they yapping about hangovers and bin juice?
"I'm the sisterhood, and so's my wife"
Great episode guys, many thanks! Loved the chat about podcasts in prison. Feel like you missed a golden opportunity to refer to them as a "captive audience"! 😅🤣😂
Love this podcast ❤
What is the metal grate thing under the table?
I like this duo
Scotland now and forever
Ex Political commentator Oli Dugmore is sent to prison after a brawl with the police. While in prison, he leads a group of inmates in a croquet match against the warden and other officials.
No Ed 😢?
No not since the blue pills thanks
He’s busy teaching sudoku in prison: “No biros!”
lost yer Ed there pal
UA-cam is offering to translate this to English for me, did you type it in an accent?
Rishi Sunak in a riot would be hilarious, I reckon the man would need "better help" for a black Friday sale !!
When I was a very drunk 18 year old at university, I also had the genius noodles in a kettle idea (shared kitchen in London halls was GRIM). The noodles were awful and tasted of limescale and I ruined the kettle for tea forever.
I wish I could vote for Stephen Flynn for PM...
I used to work in those vans up north, and yes they can see you, they're essentially in a cell the size of a portaloo with a window
What a start😂
Vote Reform
Banter you’ve😮 deffo pushed the envelop!
Oli would not survive in prison. Lacks the killer instinct.
I'd watch a Dugmore Dune review.
Steve Brine is my MP and saw him last Friday in the center of Winchester haha! There was a time where he did a meet and greet surgery at my work at Sainsbury's trying to sell Sunak's five point plan and it was supposed to be about 2hrs according to my manager but he packed up after 45 minutes in-store as the few customers who did approach were baiting him out. Mostly over Truss' mini-budget, Sunak's comments on defunding of poorer councils and his wife's non-dom status from what I could here whilst working my section.
After this happened I mentioned how funny it was to watch this to Brine's former chief of staff who I've known for years and also one of his current Parliamentary aides a day later. Both were so insistent that Brine was there for two hours and trying to glaze up his efforts after running away trying sell the crappy 5 points.
I did that route inside a prison truck. I did a only did a week in Pentonville on remand after a climate protest action though, so it probably wasn't quite the same for me as others with actual sentences. It was still weird seeing people going about their lives as if everything is normal, but then I feel that most days as a climate activist.
The worst part was the state of the prison. The cells are literally falling apart and don't get properly cleaned, the showers permenantly run hot enough to scald your skin, and you get let outside once a week if you're lucky. You spend 23 hours a day locked up in the cell.
To come back on what Oli said about changing his mind on prison reform if he spent time inside; I strongly disagree. There are some lovely people in there, and there are some not so lovely people in there, but after spending just a week in prison, I can tell you that almost nobody deserves to live in those conditions. It doesn't help anyone and any judge, magistrate, cop etc. that has a hand in getting someone there should be ashamed of themselves and the system they support.
'I am the sisterhood!' had some serious Palpatine vibes
The reason no one speaks up about the gaza conflict is entirely because they know how much power israel and its supporters wield. Until people realise the extent of this issue nothing will change.
I ❤ Ava
I'm not taking that LOTR comment
I've been in one of those white prison vans, not since the early 90s, but I can still remember being placed on remand (prolific petty shoplifting) and watching people walk about whilst I was off to Fazakerley, chain-smoking which I couldn't do now
John Smeato becoming reborn, you'll get free pints for life.
I live in Wakefield and the high security prison is literally five minutes walk from the city centre I often wondered if the poor buggers had the cruel and unusual punishment of having to listen to the nightclubs every weekend...
Agree with the points that the status quo has to stay the same...if Starmer promised a national housebuilding plan and government backed mortgage scheme for long term renters or better protections for long term renters he would win over more. but would lose the boomers in the Cotswold and Daily Mail readers who he doesn't have in the first place!
they could invade Ireland from the south and put all the immigrants there, stick a billboard in the middle of the channel crossing: “⬅️ ENGLAND”
A receiver of clap?? crazy...... hahahahahah
Banter keeps getting better
You cant see through them portholes
Am I subbed to this twaddle
Absolutely not I can say as a chef for 20 years the worst place to be with a hangovers working in a kitchen.
Been in a prison van as a juvenile and it was exactly as you imagined, normal day for the people outside the little window and the bloke sitting on a wooden bench inside realising they’re going nowhere
Your question at 4:26 - no, neither is anything preceeding it. If you don't get on with it extremely rapidly I shall be switching away.
Robbie Williams knebworth watch along!
Oli needs a jam making series, no one go near Ava in gaol she knows all the tricks, but maybe knows how to cook? Obviously she'd be running the riot...
#pettycashforpopcorn
A TV was standard in my cell and that was 2015 lol
At 51:40 you say there is a "looming expenses scandal" which is the reason Varadkar left. Could you please clarify if this was a mistake (AKA talking out your arse) or if you have information that no Irish journalist has access to
My brother used to take prisoners too and from court preferred it to delivering cash to banks
Ava just lost ALL credibility with that LotR comment. She's basically a flat-earther....
I can imagine the scene with Olly, trying to save the life of a choking woman in a restaurant and the hymnlike manoeuvre turned into the wheelbarrow position !!
I have prison stories. Some are lovely, some, not so much.
Firstly, I would like to say i have listened to the pubcast since the beginning and have frequently enjoyed it. However, having worked in prisons as a member of staff, it is hard listening to the start of each of the pubcasts. It is hard to empathise with people who have committed offences, particularly those who have been convicted of sexual offences but many of them hold significant amounts of shame about their offending and labels such as "nonce" often further stigmatise them. Prisons are truly awful places, where many of the people within the walls lose hope of change. The population inside have experienced remarkable amounts of trauma and there is a disproportionate number of people from racially marginalised groups, and/or have learning disabilities and neurodiversity issues, mental health concerns. They are largely people who come from deprived communities that have been forgotten by society. This should be remembered when discussing prisons. Ava often brings a more compassionate stance, especially when compared to the guys and I have appreciated that she has never stated the starting line. However, I feel like there was a lack of compassion in this episode. This is not a comment on Ava, as I feel she does really well in the 'boys club' atmosphere on the pubcast. Rather a comment on compassion for the disenfranchised.
LET AVA DO THE DUNE REVIEW
Dennis Nilsen Saturday night's kitchen would be a great show
Being very drunk the start of this hit very hard
Any chance we can ever get some PM Answers to go with the questions?
Not a chance.
Oli you’d do a thesis on something or other!
love podcast hate nonsense it's the politics Joe podcast
green light is distracting
PS it's pocketclown not b**ch
Difference is consent
Fishy Rishi doesn't even bither teying to answer the questions. Just a waste of time pantomime 😮
PLEASE GIVE US THE AVA DUNE 2 PODCAST
I think the next one should involve drinking AND chang
RELEASE THE N0NCES!!
Poor fucking Ed but it made me piss myself.
I want to hear Ava's Review on all three Dune movies, I would enjoy a webcam stream, with her watching them in order, Including David Linch version :D
Where's the scottish guy?
Oh no, this is absolutely terrifying… I am dreading your Judith Butler vid - I really don’t want to have to cancel you ha 😮
And the reason is that the lovely Ol is actually supprised when Ava points out that “some women are mysoginistic”………
Every adult can do whatever they want to do with themselves and their bodies, as long as they don’t break the law and /or hurt anybody else…….
…. Judith Butler is one of the women Ava speaks of. A mysoginist has
This is the church of Gender Idiology - it’s ultra right wing, but somehow the left has gifted this corporate capture to the Tories, to GB news………
…….. shame
Power imbalance is the difference
Judith Butler 😮
I’ll name and shame, luxury beliefs and nonsensemongery
the chromatic aberration on your video camera lens is shocking!
Maybe productivity and ai is the answer BUT public opinion is too scared of ai as it will lead to lay offs too
Send her to watch dune
Oli cares more about Dune than Gaza
Dune is a better love story though
Ava: “I am the Sisterhood!” And she hasn’t even SEEN Dune yet.
