Found your channel a couple weeks back and have been inspired by how you care for tools and appreciate old techniques. I I've started up restoring by dad's old tools that were rusting in the garage and am amazed at how well they work compared to a cheap tool shop brands. Thanks so much.

To cover up those extra few inches of your bar (that the cove case is too short for) I use a piece of old air hose slit long ways goes on quick and easy and protects really well....best thing is its free, helps keep your blade sharp and you safe.

    Cody:
I can't believe that just a few short years ago your channel could barely fill a high school football field and now your subscriber base is double the size of the town I live in. This channel has really come a long way however, in my opinion, you have truly stuck to your roots. I appreciate this channel and everything that it has either taught me or given me enjoyment of. Thank you and God bless with your sawyer class.

My quick observation on the camera is that it distorts the picture, giving the finished product the fish-eye effect. If it is handy, use it just know it isn't as visually appealing as your last camera. Best wishes in your class. Hope you get top honors!!

onebadboy2 I believe they make special lenses to correct that, at least on a few cameras. But I'm sure he'll only be using it in situations that don't really allow him to take time and set up a tripod or two and bounce between angles.

onebadboy2 If he is using a Contour Roam camera,, they use a wider field of view at the lower resolution settings which causes the fish-eye look... At the higher settings this does not happen.

Good. I wish I had taken more such classes. I hope the Forest Service lets you use your own equipment. Most jobs I've had would not allow it. The Stihl saws are the one saw I will turn to. The only downside is the crankshaft bearings. They will eventually die from wear and are locked with inner C-clips in a cast aluminum crankcase. A little gentle care with J-B Weld and emery clothe can fix where the casting was worn by the outer bearing races rattling around. A Stihl will keep this flaw hidden for a long time. Any bearing and seal supplier can get the bearings and seals much cheaper than OEM and not needing to buy the pricey crankcase. I hope this helps.

This Light bars are lighter about 38% than standard ones (thats what Stihl says on their web site). Free space is filled with polyamide not alumimium as you said. BTW good choice. You will feel the difference after long time work.

They make larger capacity batteries for over an hour run time and it records 1080p 60 fps, 720p 120 fps, and 480w in 240 fps. Cheapest go pro alternative with a Panasonic chip. Waterproof and 170 degree viewing angle. I don't work for sjcam but I do like their products. Paid less than $180

Richard Charles my thoughts exactly. Must be compensating for something. A guy that just went through a s212 course has no business cutting anything over 30. By the book actually anything over 18 if I remember right. And also when you come out of the 212 you won't get certified over an A/Type3. You have to complete taskbooks for a type 1 or 2

one thing with Idaho wildland (at least in this area) Firefighting dislike is they require 3000 hours provable past commercial felling experience before you are allowed to even fill out the application.
(they want it in writing and want it confirmed before they will give you the application form)
While I can understand it from a insurance liability point of view I still think they are putting an unreasonable bottleneck in getting people to sign on.
(and is thus limiting our wildland firefighting resources as a result)
A Better idea would just be to test applicants actual cutting & safety skills, that isn't hard, or that expensive to do either.

The Stihl light bars are the best light bars made, and they are truly light. The metal used in the insert is Titanium, that's been TIG welded in. They're other light bar options available. TsuMura light & tough bars, and Sugi Hara lightweight bars. Both are made in Japan and are extremely high quality, slightly lower cost as well. Unfortunately they're hard to find, Ebay is the best source. stores.ebay.com/THECHAINSAWGUYS-STORE
