I love you guys, Chris more. She reminds me of the only person who`s been on my bike since my wife of 43 years passed a year ago. Ya`ll have fun. You`re a great inspiration for many of us..
Thank you both so much for sharing your adventures with us. Teaching and leading by example with patience when things don't always go well. Little mechanical issues and always like, no big deal, we will do our best to fix it and carry on! Great Job 👍 looking forward to the rest of the years adventures! safe travels ❤️
Chris, your such a hoot! I love your outtake on life. Always looking for the brighter side. Rich, your patience in troubled areas is awe-inspiring. Love you guys, love your channel! Wish you the best😁
As someone else said, JB weld water weld works great. I carry JB weld steel stick in a saddlebag, it saved me on a road trip when my rear brake reservoir developed a crack and was leaking. The stuff is unbelievably strong.
My Brother used to have a business, where he repaired the big plastic water filled highway barriers for the state of Texas. He simply used heat guns, and tools that looked like bent flat blade screw drivers. Heat the screwdriver tip with the heat gun, and melt the crack in the plastic back together, using plastic zip ties for filler if needed. Easy to do. Use a regular screwdriver, and a butane cigarette lighter, if that's all you got.
Try welding the water tank with a soldering Iron and ABS plastic like from a milk jug. Just heat the ABS Tank a little, and melt ABS jug plastic onto pin hole. Should patch pretty easily.
☝🏻This. The tanks are made out of either HDPE or LDPE and any adhesive or epoxy won’t bond for any length of time. Welding the plastic with a heat source like a soldering iron or a plastic welder (Harbor Freight sells them) will do the trick.
To seal your water tank..... give "Goo" a try..... Shoe Goo. Electrical Goo, Plumbing Goo, Automotive Goo. (Try Wal-Mart as a source) It's all the same stuff. It sticks well to almost anything. It sets into a semisolid, flexible, compound and once allowed to set (Overnight) it's very tough and near impossible to remove. Apply two coats over the area in need of repair ( over a two day period) and I think your problem will be solved. I've used this stuff a lot and always had good results, including the plastic gas tank on my riding mower.
Richard. As we both are Refrigerated guys (really cool). I’m sure you can get a patch on that tank. Plastic weld works very well. Love the adventure you both are on. Living the dream.
Ha ha ha... I was just starting to write you to use some flex seal when you pulled out some flex tape. Ha ha ha... Too funny... Glad to see you're still hanging in there and doing ok... (excluding your leaks of course...) See ya around... Nomad
We used to permanently fix water tanks in rvs with a 2 part apoxy and fiber cloth, it was/is called plati-mend ... it welds the tank by melting it with a cloth to permanently hold it to not reform ...
Greetings from England ,I love your channel so much I went over your old vids, I think having base camp is a much better idea, Did you fix your leak? By the way I would love to see the trips when you move base camp as well, that would be cool?
Great video of the nice back roads in the dessert be safe and have lots of fun good riding . I was just thinking might be able to plastic weld the pin hole in the water tank with an solder iron .
In the future you can try J-B Weld's WATERWELD™ EPOXY PUTTY. I've use JB weld products on my Harley and it worked fine. I used it on a cracked casing down by the lifter that I had caused by a misplaced screwdriver trying to compress to remove pushrods. And it worked great. I also used it on my gas tank in the cup area where your fuel gauge sits that had rusted out and was leaking gas. I also have seen it used on a truck's coolant overflow tank.
Rich: go with JB Weld Marine grade sealer. It works well on plastic. And it never hurts to have a tube of SEAL ALL I use it to repair leaks in plastic gasoline tanks on vehicles.
I've been away for a while so I'm probably late with info. I've done many plastic welding jobs with a soldering gun and found zip ties are good "welding" material or the plastic caps off water bottles, not the bottle material. Your probably already done, but this kind of a weld will last a life time. I have even welded a broken in 2 motorcycle fender on a MX bike and it lasted a full season.
I'm thinking you are way beyond this video now and have your leak fixed... and you're getting all the advice you need... here's mine: I've fixed holes in hot water tanks, gas tanks even a crack in the transmission housing of a motorcycle... with a little tube of a sealer called "Seal All"... I have found it at any hardware store... better to have a dry surface, work the sealer into the crack and let it dry... that's it... you can cover with tape but it is the liquid sealer that does the job... hope all is well and your fix worked... Keep the rubber side down and the sunny side up.... stay blessed....
Great show ! I need your help please. About a year ago Richard showed a tank bag on his Harley. I’m, Do you remember the make and model of the bag? Thank you!
You didn’t say in the video if you got your water tank repaired. Most auto body shops can “weld” plastic. Might be worth looking into. Also, maybe there’s a warranty on your water tank. Good luck. Enjoy your videos. Thanks.
I’m a diesel technician and when the fuel tanks straps wear into the fuel tank and produced a leak I would rub a bar of dial soap over the problem area and the leak stopped. It’s an old trick that works effectively and temporarily until the unit got back to the shop for repairs. I’m not saying it works on water because I’ve only done it on fuel tanks but it’s worth a shot? The soap grinds into to fracture and seals it and by some miracle it sticks there. Hope this helps?
How you liking the Beemer compared to the HD ? Camped out in Kofa a few times Great place to boondocks Had out of body experience The desert is a wonderful place
Now if u wants some moist air, come to Florida. You will get all the moisture you want. I think it was 80% humidity this morning. It gets as high as 90% some times. Be safe Have fun
It looks like you might have some stress fractures getting ready to let go Look at 2:00 minutes in. Check out the lower left-hand corner of bed frame. You might want to think about slamming a well tension the piece of that metric tape over those cracks. I hope the remainder of your journey is pleasant.
i never used flex tape but i have used two part epoxy and thats a fix. I even fixed a huge hole in my gas tank on my bike and it held for years untill i bought bigger tanks.
Hmmmm...........maybe another opportunity to try some super glue and baking soda (in a pinch) to mend a hairline crack? Ahhhh the RV life. It's always something........breaking. The road is hard on things isn't it?
Someone punch a hole in your tank ? They went for the seam to make harder for you to figure it out ? Is very hard for debris to break that . Take Good look at the hole . I been there to ride bicycle that place is big . Wanted to car camp there .
A little, tiny hole will become only a little hole. Then it will grow up some more into s full fledged hole. Pretty soon the seam starts to open up longitudinally. At that point, the choices narrow down to (1) factory repair, (2) factory replacement, or (3) gobbing on the bubble gum that you should have done in the first place. Yes, it really does work. I patched the gas tank of a motorcycle with bubble gum. Out of curiosity I let the bike sit when I got home that day. Six days later, the patch came undone. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying

I , second the JB weld putty. I used it on a plastic tank that was cracked. It holds hydraulic fluid for my lift. It’s been holding for 2 years
I used the white marine version while underwater on my boat, floating on Lake Powell 🤜💥🤛

Beat me to it! Or use zip ties as a welding medium.
As a former welder, that's a terrible sounding fix. "Should patch pretty easily"?
Yes on the heat welding with a soldering iron or preferably a soldering gun. That's how I'm fixing my body work on my Yamaha Venture Royale.

You might try JB Water Weld. I've had to use it in similar situations and it worked great.
NO!!! NO JB WELD ANYWHERE NEAR YOUR DRINKING AND COOKING WATER!!!

@@dandial3733 I definitely did pay attention. I wouldn't bank on it you can safely use jb on anything connected with eating or drinking.

JB Weld would've repaired leak. Defective tank should be under warranty.
I agree. JB weld epoxy will fix it forever. Flex Seal is temporary AT BEST.

Don't forget those cracks I mentioned

see you have Tx plates on your bikes, is that where you originate from ?? i'm from there...
you can fix plastic leaks by hot tip to melt plastic together , carry a soldering iron . for plastic repair. .
Great idea
I have always used J. B. Weld. It stops leaks.. And after it cures add tape or fiber glass.
Thanks. I’ll have to check this stuff out
I would try fiberglass on the water tank. Home Depot has a small kit or most auto parts.
Thanks. I’ll have to check this stuff out

Flex seal also comes in a spray can might have worked better than tape
Yes I ended up with the paste for temp fix. It’s getting replaced today

it you some stuff called goop , i fixed my plasic gas tank with it a year ago it's still holding, you can get it at a hardware store

These tanks are generally polyethelene and threr is no "glue" or adhesive that will truly bond to it. The only way PE can be fixed is by welding.
