Listening to 'Living After Death' is enough to turn you immediately into a badass with a pastel suit, a pair of Aviators, a big gigantic moustache, a Countach posing right behind you out of nowhere and a goddamn Uzi magically appearing in your hand. It's just that type of song. The type that puts a bloody smile on your face while your ready for battle!
When Dawn of the Dead came to Europe, it was actually called Zombi or even Zombie everywhere in Europe except for the United Kingdom. Maybe there was a few countries in Europe that called it Dawn of the Dead or something else, but Zombi/Zombie was the European name. You can find the French posters where it funnily says 'Zombie' on it, just like the name of Lucio Fulci's Zombie in North America. So it's very possible that Zombi 2 or Zombie 2 was the common European name for the Fulci classic, other than 'Voodoo' which was the name in Denmark. Hilariously, Japan not only shared the exact same cut as Europe but they called it 'Zombies'. And Zombie/Zombi 2 ended up being called 'Zombies 2' in Japan. And the award for most amazing history of a film's title history goes to...
I've got a reprint of the poster that says George A Romero's Zombies.
@@abegarfield7031 Is that the Japanese poster?
Blame Dario Argento.... the extended cut is worth looking for
You're convulsing with laughter & your giddiness is contagious. Thanks for the uplift.
Ah thanks man we love to be a uplift to anyone who needs on on a Friday night. If we can do that we've done our job
I can't bring myself to tarnish the perfection of Dawn/Zombi 2. This is all the info I need on the "franchise." Thanks, fellas. 10/10 fricheks
Do is a favor and watch part 4 at least haha
"Zombies don't have the brain-power to run a radio show!" I don't know mate, you didn't hear British radio DJs of the late 1980s.
haha no we didn't, but can imagine if they are anything like some of ours
Zombi is my fave Fulci and def a masterpiece, agreed. That shark vs zombie scene is up there with the chariot race in Ben Hur lmfao. Not kidding.
Totally agreed
I saw it for the first time a few years ago and was like, "OMG! How have I not tracked this down sooner!" It's fantastic.
Agree... also love the first two releases in the Gates trilogy
@@Donathon-qx8kq That was one of the few trilogies where I considered all three to be good/great.
Always fun to watch your videos. Thanks for making my day!
Our pleasure 😁 glad to make your day
Yeah they really don’t make em like they used to. Even the games too
I've seen the first two many times as they're classics. The one half-directed by Fulci is fun in a "so-bad-it's-good" way. That bird attack scene on the bus with the accompanying cheesy rock music... Then again, I've never watched it sober 😆
And you shouldn't watch it sober.
So, the article on Wikipedia says that there was confusion among the "Killing Birds" production crew as to who was actually directing the film. Not surprising. Robert Vaughn must have been having financial difficulties. Wow, what a crazy non-franchise patchwork! As for the many names of "Dawn of the Dead" I feel like I know less now than before I watched the video. HILARIOUS video, by the way! I loved it. The perfect interlude from a crap day at work.
Well at least Robert Vaughan had a easy job just sit there and pretend to read brail haha
Dawn of the Dead is the best zombie movie ever made. Zombie 2 is amazing and may be much favorite Fulchi film. I thought Zombie 3 was okay. Zombie 4 and 5 were both horrid. Especially 5.
Haha we think 3 was the worse than 4 and 5 was the shit cherry on top of the ice cream
Not gonna lie I love Zombi 3 & 4 as well as the first Zombie. But 5 is of no redeeming value whatever, garbage from beginning to end & not in a good way. At least 3 & 4 had a recurring theme that in a way tied them to the first movie.
yeah 3&4 can be fun in the right mid set, so bad it's good. 5 is just plain boring nonsense haha. Thanks for watching.
The Zombie "series" is even more screwed up than that. There are so many movies that were at some point released as Zombi 3 or whatever variation applies that particular release. For instance, Rosso Sangue (aka Absurd) was released on VHS in the U.S. as Zombie 6: Monster Hunter and Jess Franco's Virgin Among the Living Dead became Zombie 4. Then Le notti del terrore (aka Burial Ground) at some point was apparently titled Zombi 3 or Zombie 3.
As for the main movies, Dawn is classic and Fulci's Zombie is classic. Zombi 3 and 4 are fun, but dumb. 3 is such a mess due to the director switch. I think Fulci was a bit burned out by that point, so Bruno Mattei taking over makes for a disjointed but entertaining (for the most part, as there are some really boring parts, too) movie. 4 is just odd, but still entertaining. There is a distinct difference in the movies coming out of Italy in the later '80s compared the ones from the '70s and early '80s.
Side note, one of the military guys in Zombi 3 is Ottaviano dell'Acqua, who played one of the most famous movie zombies ever, the worm-eye zombie from Fulci's Zombi 2. If that guy got some sort of payment for the usage of those images, he would be one rich-ass guy, but I don't think that is how Italy did things in those days.
Whoa you I ow your zombie shit man. Did not know some of that
And Anthropophagous, which was made before Absurd and shares the lead actor and director was known as Zombi 7 in some countries!
Zombi 3 is pretty dope imo. Yeah it has flaws but its so fucking FUN. Plus its a zombie movie in the PHILLIPINES. My family is filipino we love that.
Personally I think it’s a terrible movie, but it’s terribly good fun! You can see that Mattei was responsible for a good portion of the scenes, which only makes the proceedings more hilarious! But if you think it’s great then more power to you! 👍🏻
Between Zombi 3, 4 and 5 I like 5 the best. I think it's just so ridiculous that I find it entertaining. Dawn of the Dead and Zombi are both fantastic films though. If you want just a dumb fun zombie film, watch Dead Snow 2: Red vs Dead. (You don't need to watch part one). Dead Snow 2 is hilarious, ridiculous fun.
Ah haven't seen Dead Snow 2, but did enjoy the first one!
@@FrightfullyForgottenDead Snow 2 kinda reminds me of Tucker and Dale vs Evil. It's not as good as Tucker and Dale but the effects are great and it's just over the top fun horror.
Zombi II is my all time favourite zombie film. Very atmospheric.
funnily enough, Fulci said the thing he was most proud of in Zombi 3 was the radio DJ zombie
Haha well the make up design is good I'll give him that
I've heard his favorite effect was in fact the head flying out of the fridge really
Haha man I gotta say I love Zombie 3. Sort of feels like a strange video game or something. Just a weird fever dream of a film
Yeah that's a great way to put it haha
Please do the Demons franchise next!
That's a pretty damn good idea... We will look into that
Can't imagine why Italy doesn't make horror or genre movies anymore, with such an immaculate eye for quality as this.
Awesome episode. I’ve only ever seen zombi 2 and dawn of the dead. I might watch zombi 3 just to see how bad it is.
Keep on rockin guys.
Haha have fun with Zombie 3 then, thanks for watching
There's a Greek zombie movie
that I've been looking for
for years called Evil.
There's a scene where a bunch of zombies invade a soccer match.
Yes I have copy of it, but don't remember the Greek title.
Ooh cool haven't heard of that one.
Just got dawn on 4K, it’s a work of art ❤️
4K, Shit!
Wonder how much Robert Vaughn was paid for that last sequel? Zombie 3 is a guilty pleasure of mine. 😂
Haha probably a few bucks hahah Christ all he did was wonder around with sunglasses on
You guys are either from Fargo or yer Canadian. I'm Canadian and I'm having trouble figuring out yer accent. That's Massachusetts right???
We are from Wpg Canada which is about 4 hours from Fargo so you pretty much nailed it.
@@FrightfullyForgotten That's awesome! You guys having a good winter?
@@DustinSteckler-lh6cb actually it's been really mild and very little snow. Not living up to our reputation this year
@@FrightfullyForgotten yup. Us too man. I'm in Alberta. We just got dumped on for the first time really hardcore yesterday
@@DustinSteckler-lh6cb we got a dump yesterday too but still not bad. It's melting as we speak. Always great to hear from a fellow Canadian. Cheer man
I always felt Zombi 2 was more of a prequel to Dawn. At the end of Zombi 2 the zombies are now in New York where Dawn starts.
Yeah you can totally look at it as a prequel kinda like to think that it is.
The Dead from 2010 was a pretty decent zombie filck thats set in Africa a newer location for a change had the classic traditional slow moving zombies of the Romero fulci types.
Epic episode!
Thanks, it was allot of work!
Well ill be honest i had no idea of Zombi 5 or 5 😅 my 1st zombie movie was Zombies Dawn of the dead as it was released here in the UK, then i was introduced to Zombie flesh eaters whixh was wild with the shark scene and the splinter in the eye ball i do have some European versions of Dawn thats called Zombie then so is fulcis flesh eaters is called Zombie lol confusion i did see zombi 2 or 3... and that was enough lol bit cant be as bad as Zombies creeping flesh or Oasis of the zombies classics but crap 😂😂😂 awesome vid gents 🤘🤘
There's quite a surplus of shitty dawn of the dead/zombie rip off movies that's for sure, even own a few I haven't attempted to watch yet
Have you done Story of Ricky AKA Ricky-oh? I would also recommend Dead dudes in the house AKA The dead come home. I'm going to recommend an amazing film that flew under the radar and is awesome, Laurin (Germany) from 1989. But it's very low-key, atmospheric, I don't know if it would appeal to your audience, but it's definitely worth a look. The cover art sells this movie already.
Yeah Ricky-Oh is one of the most entertaining films ever! haha. And Dead Dudes in the House is on our "to review list" really enjoyed it for what it was.
Fortunately I've missed most of these lol
Haha you ain't missing much. Besides that kick ass theme from Zombie 4
Wouldn't Zombie (whatever)...be considered a prequel???
Yup allot of people consider it it be one even though it's not intended to be.
Guys I can't hate on any of these.😂 So entertaining and unpredictable compared to The Walking Dead which puts me to sleep. 😊
oh yeah, walking dead sure got redundant, we gave up on it a long long time ago.
It was Bruno Mattei who took over from Fulci on Zombi 3. I doubt the movie got better for his scenes.
If anything worse
Such a fun video, guys. Zombie 5 is one of the stupidest goddamn films ever.
That one was hard to sit through for sure
It's weird people love Dawn of the Dead I've seen it once and never cared to revisit it
Really we watch it a few times a year we think it's the best zombie movie of all time... Tied with return of the living dead
@@FrightfullyForgotten I find the zombie makeup to be a little boring and the mall to be a little like I don't know my favorite zombie movie is Return of the Living Dead
@@vanderhoff66futhank you, I've seen the OG DOTD & I thought it was quite dull & overrated. ROTLD & Day are great though.
Crystal Lake beer 😂😂
Crystal Lake Kolsch baby
I have the 4k of Dawn with all 3 cuts and I enjoy watching all of them! There's cool shit in each cut!
Which is your favorite cut?
@@FrightfullyForgotten gotta be the theatrical. Its the one I grew up with and even though I have every single Goblin album on vinyl...I still love that cheesy mall music and stock music Romero used in the theatrical lol. Love that stuff. And ofc it still has the Goblin score too! My fave part of the Argento cut is the scene with Goblin's "Oblio" song. that has such a nice, jazzy melancholy vibe to it juxtaposed perfectly with the shots of the characters living in the mall after clearing out the zombies (pre biker invasion lol)
Have yall done content on HK Cat 3 films? Man some of those are too far for even me. That stuff is fucking insane!
Don't forget Hell of the Living Dead another bad fun dawn rip off directed by Bruno Mattei who I think finished zombi 3 for fulci
God that one is worse than all these
Hell of the Living Dead is certainly not a good movie, but damn, it was entertaining!
