This dream is not dead. Thats why it's a dream. Why are we so pessimistic and negative in nigeria? We have an ongoing USD1.2b hospital project in ondo which was Signed last year.

Sadly, going by some of the comments on this forum we seriously do have a long way to go in Nigeria. I wonder if some of the commentators here listened to the podcast. A similar project was well executed in Ghana West Africa. How much do people think projects of this magnitude will cost? How many of the foreign investors will be willing to commit that amount of money to projects like this? If our legislooters can afford to renovate the National Assembly for 37 billion Naira (which cost 7 billion Naira to build), why can't the government buy into projects like this? I think poverty has destroyed the reasoning ability of so many people. Wow!

Nigerias biggest problem is Nigerians the only difference between people in office and most of us is power

The truth is "a lot of people are not vision driven, therefore they their mind cannot see this happening. That's why a lot of people in the comment are saying it is a large project and too large for the government to embark on. If the Legislators can claim they spent 37 billion to renovate the National Assembly, why can't half of such be invested in a project like this. The project was even meant to be financed by a US Exim Loan. With half of what they used to renovate the National Assembly, and some loan, this can be done. And if you think this should be financed by a private entity, the Government can facilitate that by endorsing the project and pitching it to Private Sectors Like MTN. If the Goverment can promise to give MTN a tax break for a year if they finance this project, MTN will gladly do it. It's all about the mind. If your mind can not comprehend it, you can't see it happening. If Ghana can get this done, why can't Nigeria?

If as he said there was private funding, what exactly was to be the government involvement in the project? If it's land, many state governments are ready to provide this. The hospital does not have to be in Abuja.

This is huge. May God help our government. And like others have said, we need to start looking out to private investors who can do this instead of the government or a kind of partnership programme.

I am sorry but what has God got to do with good governance? Therein lies our biggest problem.

Why not setup as a private project and crowdfund it? Perhaps this approach could have a chance?

This is a propaganda. What were you expecting from govt? A guarantee for the loan? This is nothing but a white elephant project that would be abandoned along the way. If you were serious, you should have phased the project. Approach the capital market for funding after you have commenced operations. It is easier to finance in phases, nobody embarks on this type of project with borrowings from day one to complete the project successfully. It good to have a big dream and strategy to achieve your dream. You had a great dream but lacked strategy to achieve same. Project financing is a big deal in Nigeria. Do you know that Kaduna refinery is yet to be completed till date? Do you know of the petrochemical plant was never built and people were employed trained to work in the petrochemical plant? Do you know these are still been paid salaries till date for doing nothing. What we need is a private sector led economy. Tell where in the world govt gives a sovereign guarantee for a loan to finance a private sector project. The project in Ghana is not on this same terms as the proposed project for Nigeria. Please give us detailed information for a proper assessment of the project. If you had requested for land for the project and govt refused you, then you have a point. But asking for sovereign guarantee for the loan to finance a white elephant project like with high probability for abandonment is asking for too much.

My thots exactly. Too large, too many things at the same time. It should habe been phased. "I did not even see a generator there"😂. But seriously, i think he gave up too quickly. What the minister said was not out of place. He should have persisted.

This is not too large. It has to do with your mind, your mind just couldn't see it. If a Country like Ghana embarked on the same project and was able to get it done, why can't Nigeria do the same. Our Legislators claim they spent about 37 billion Naira to renovate the National Assembly. Imagine that.

Ofcourse the project will be in phase. That's what the project is all about and that's what Ghana did.

We should think of private sector driven projects not pitching always on the Government. If you sought land for a private hospital, you do not need to see the President for anything. Private hospitals will thrive in the long run better than the pubic hospitals.
