A piece of art needs no praise, but still... No gore, no monsters - yet listening to this at 3 am in the morning made my skin crawl. "Devil's lair" would sound like a cliche elsewhere, but not there - no, sir! Honestly, I never knew Natures Temper to be much into voice acting (or maybe I just didn't really pay attention to this part), but not only there was a whole lot of acting - narration was a perfect match for the story itself. Ok, to stop rambling: story - 10/10, narration - 10/10. Good luck, guys!
In my culture, we believe that bad spirits can follow you home when your spirit is scared and weak. And in this case, it seems like that thing in the cave followed you home.
I am a agnostic buddhist. I believe in we are just atoms. The afterlife is 50/50, and you know when you are dead. It's all 50/50. Religion might be silly, but it has lasted, and religious people aren't as stuck up, unhappy complaintive as atheists. I don't think you are that silly.

This was my first and favorite creepypasta. I greatly appreciate you doing this. A couple of other narrations I have found are not that good audio-wise. So this is a fantastic find!
Finally listened to this again. 3 years ago the day this came out i was listening and my grill blew up where I got 2nd and 3rd degree burns 7.6% of my body. I like to think that whatever was in the cave wasn't hostile, just confused and maybe even as scared of them as they were of it. So when they came packing weapons and hostile intent, it (likely) killing them was purely in self defense.

Ted, never returned. The Black Hills of South Dakota has many caves. Most are tourist traps and are well lit. On some of our ATV trips we'd stumbled upon uh, other caves. A few of the guys love these things, but me? NO WAY, NO cave, EVER!
Your Midwestern accent is even better than your Southern accent. It took me a bit to notice since as a Midwesterner I hear it as just the "default" American accent, but you really nailed it.

Listening to this after a few weeks ago watching the doco about the guy who died stuck in a cave upside down. It was in USA. Can't think of a more horrible way to die frozen stuck in a confined space monster or not. Maybe a monster would be faster. This leaves so many questions. Surprised they didn’t send a rover or remote truck with camera on it thru tunnel 1st. I am so glad I save the story so I could listen to it all at once while on the trip I felt like I became obsessed with it. I could see everything in my mind that was happening. I wish it was longer. There could be another story line going with this.
Ted thinks it was a Hodag, right? While I'm not sure what was actually down there, the Hodag itself looks kinda ridiculous. Really kinda guts the intensity when you realize it looks like a Wild Thing on all fours.

So I'm a little ripped but my question is how did they get the picture from the other side of the hole with his hand through the hole if they couldn't get to the other side of the hole until they made the hole? I know that a whole lot hole but its not making a whole lot of sense.....
At one point, when he is going into the cave with Joe, he says Joe turned around and snapped a picture of him in the tomb. I assume that is the pic shown. It’s just shown earlier in the narration. I just like when a CreepyPasta has pictures. Makes it seem more real and blurs the line of fiction vs non fiction more.

This is one of my favorite early creepy pasta story next to The Dionea House. Having said that, I always believed it could have been trimmed down into a tighter 30 minute read. Because 2/3 of the story is just overly descriptive writing about diging.
True, but the long digging descriptions add both realism, suspense, and allow for a slow suspension of disbelief until you reach the finale. I would say no trimming is necessary unless it was adapted into a film.
We need a sequel. Something to explain what those strange visions and sightings are. Edit The Hodag is a Cryptid which most people say was a Hoax. Apparently it's a hybrid creature of an Ox, Dinosaur, Frog, and Elephant that lives in caves. It was also featured as a villain in the Paul Bunyon Stories. Also Ted the Caver is also a movie. Does anyone remember the story about a localy famous spelunker who delves into the various tunnels beneath his city/town? Some of the finer details are things such as an under ground "city" populated by homeless and governed by criminals since the location makes it hard for officers to enforce laws. I believe the end of the story details how the adventurous spelunker ends up is a void lcontained within a room where his mind breaks and he stays for eternity where he is never found. Any serious suggestions to the title of the video are welcome. Thank you

man listening to this is just frustrating rather than scary/chilling, the caver is just dumb, there's so much that an "experienced" caver would have done that would have stopped almost all of the 'scary' stuff from happening
It’s like in Friday 13th or any other slasher when the victim makes dumb choices that are obvious but still make them and wind up killed. If characters made smart choices there would be no story to tell
