I remember this movie as a kid and I was surprised (post internet age) that more people didn't remember it. I always felt it was a bit underrated, not hugely underrated but enough.
I grew up in 2006 and I've seen a lot of media during that year from movies to shows, and I've seen every animated 2006 movies like Cars, Ice Age 2, Open Season, Over the Hedge, The Wild, Flushed Away, Everyone's Hero, Monster House and The Ant Bully (except Curious George, Barnyard, and Hoodwinked until years later) when we rented them at Blockbuster and they all have similar animation quality that look pretty dated, and I also remember watching shows from PBS, Qubo and 4Kids TV featuring some CG animated shows that had similar dated animation levels such as VeggieTales, Jakers! Adventures of Piggly Winks, and Viva Piñata, and I kind of miss those jolly good old days as a kid with happy memories
It's pretty sad to hear that Ricardo Montalbán (the grandpa from Spy Kids) was the voice of the judge ant and like Roddy McDowell from A Bug's Life, he voiced an ant as a last movie role. What's even more of a coincidence they had the same initials.
It's kind of like in the DreamWorks movie Antz, when General Mandible wanted to flood the whole colony causing all the ants to stack themselves as an escape ladder to reach the surface by passing of one of them including the queen and the babies
I thought he said Paul Newman which he voiced Doc as his last non documented voice role in Cars. Which even the beetle doesn’t sound like Paul. RIP Paul Newman.
Also this movie was made by the creator of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius and Rob Paulsen was the voice of Carl Wheezer in that movie. Also it was his birthday yesterday.

Even now the mid to late 2000s movie like Doogal, Happily NEVER After, Igor, and others are now underrated because studios like Pixar and Dreamworks are popular. They wanted to joined the party but failed. But this movie is in my opinion was okay. But it was before Warner Bros comes back with The LEGO Movie. I feel bad that Warner Bros was left in the shell of former glory days of Looney Tunes (I like it now because no matter I love my favorite characters.) And they’re now trying to get back in the top with the new generation and technology.

Yeah! The Magic Roundabout! Unfortunately nobody talks about the movie anymore. Similar to Chicken Little as everyone considers “The worst Disney movie.” Doogal was my childhood movie growing up.
WB had other animated movies before like Cats Don't Dance, Tim Burton's Corpse Bride, Happy Feet 1 and 2, The Owls Of Gahuole, and today The Lego Movies and Warner Animation Group's first CGI movie Storks.
And indeed back then in the older days were Looney Tunes and later in the 90's were the Warner cartoons produced by Amblin Entertainment including Tiny Toon Adventures, Animaniacs, Pinky And The Brain, Freakazoid, one that is not Amblin Histeria. The Sylvester And Tweety Mysteries, Baby Looney Tunes, Duck Dodgers. From DC, the DC Animated Universe and others like The Batman, Teen Titans, and Batman: The Brave And The Bold. Those were the all cartoons Warner Bros. made over the years. Pixar and DreamWorks Animation were popular in the 2000's. Don't forget Blue Sky Studios and Sony Pictures Animation.

Rob Paulson does a pretty good Paul Reubens like character so I get the mistake which is understandable since its still a good performance. Cant wait for the next vids to come. :-)
I waited until the end to comment because I thought you were going to make a joke out of not getting the exterminator's joke/reference. Beals Bugs (I didn't catch the full thing) sounds like Beelzebub, one of the names erroneously placed on Satan. He was literally doing a Faustian bargain, getting the arrogant character to sign his contract to bring evil and death. The ants sort of enhanced the joke making him their version of the fiend of the pit. Ironic fun fact: Beelzebub means "Lord of the Flies", how ironic for an exterminator. It's a politically motivated corruption of Ba'al Zebul The Lord On High. Ancient religious politics. Also, Dwayne La Fontant from Over the Hedge was a better insane exterminator. But I seem to be the only one in the world that liked Over the Hedge.
As a kid I've never seen or own both Antz and A Bug's Life since I only saw the Ant Bully which was my first ant movie as a kid and it was pretty disturbing, until I finally saw both Bug's Life and Antz at a daycare but I only saw half of them from the openings and I didn't get to see the whole thing in both movies
I think the reason why The Ant Bully was the last film to be produced by DNA Productions was because this was the movie that failed at the box-office during it's opening weekend that caused DNA Productions to shut down that same year in 2006, that's probably the reason why this movie never got a series and why Jimmy Neutron never got a fourth season :(
I’m sorry but I can’t help this: while watching this review, I close my eyes and all I can imagine is Aang talking to a group of ants and that makes me sad because now I wanna see that happen but it never will, this is the closest I’ll get to it so as I keep watching, I’m just gonna pretend Lucas is Aang. Tell me you wouldn’t do the same!
It was a curious coincidence that this film had plenty of Nickelodeon vibes all over it. What I didn't know from the start is DNA productions made this (they made Jimmy Neutron), Lucas was voiced by Zach Tyler Eisen (who also voiced Aang on Avatar the Last Airbender), and much like Jimmy Neutron this film had shorts interstitials that aired on Nick at the time. But then there was Barnyard, which released around the same time (in fact both films swapped release dates). It made more money than this film, and so Nick picked up a series for the former.
maybe that and also I don't really hate this but making this movie is why DNA production shutdown ( and was kind of the reason why we never get a Jimmy Neutron season 4 even though Planet Sheen was okay in my opinion)

This movie while sure not aged well, I love it so much. I just oove semi fantasy semi sci fi adventures. Which is why the game Grounded is one of my favs. Also I feel like this should’ve been an animated series instead. Have Lucas become tiny again just to go on adventures with the ants. Cause it does give for interesting ideas on the concept of being tiny and having to fight against giant bugs and travel to cool looking environments. Especially since magic is a thing in this world, so it would call for more awesome fantasy related content 💙🩵👍🏾.

Actually, ants can be underwater for 2 weeks without drowning, so the fact that they survived the hose is kinda believable.

Since all the ants of the same nest are siblings, doesnt that mean that Hova's and Zoc's relationship is pretty much incest
Not to mention how much older Zoc could be than Hova
