    My gen 2 coyote swapped fox, (f150 motor) gen3 intake, ARH long tubes, MMR lightweight water pump pulley, stock airbox made 400RWHP at 6800 rpm (stock rev limiter on this Ford ECU) I'm going to raise the rev limiter and get her tuned, very happy with this truck motor and gen3 intake.

    in all honesty 2018+ ported manifold has been working perfectly fine for me making about 440hp 93 tune by auto mafia only mods i have is 2018 ported, jlt and tune :) also have stock headers with a h-pipe . The benefits with the ported 2018 manifold vs the cobra are small with a tune I am sure with the cobra you can get a tiny bit more power However with the boss and cobra intake manifold you have to do some custom fab work under the hood to make it fit.

    I added one to my 14 6r80 with a 4200 Circle D torque Convertor, 3.73 gears and long tube header, custom tuned, I lost H.P. and torque below 4000 rpm, but only picked up an additional 15 hp above. In my mind it wasn't really worth the loss of low end power, I wound up swapping back.

      @JROC734 2 роки тому

      Agreed. The gearing and gear spread with the 10R80 makes a bunch of lowend grunt largely irrelevant compared to traditional setups. A N/A Coyote is no lowend torque monster anyway. It does its best work on the big end so let it shine there. A F150's GEN3 Coyote is largely the same as the Mustangs other than the intake/exhaust manifolds and for some reason Ford gave them a different firing order, but even the cams spec's are similar between the 2. Again the 10R80's gearing and willingness to shift with small throttle inputs does a great job of keeping the Coyote in its powerband. Giving up a little on the bottom to gain more up top is not really a bad thing in this scenario, even on a large 4WD truck that gets used for truck duties. Might be different with the 6R80 truck, but IDK as I've not owned 6R80 F150. I just wish my 03 Lightning could easily accept a 10R80 swap.

  • @stewieiommi
    @stewieiommi 3 роки тому +1

    I have a '14 6R80 w/AED tune. I spoke with Shaun about this manifold swap, and he said much the same thing, that it would just move the powerband up. I don't and won't be racing the car on the drag strip or in Mexico. I have traction problems on the street as it is, and a converter would just exacerbate that issue. How you use your car is the key to all these questions. On the street, this car does not need torque loss on the bottom. If you're racing with a manual or a converter, different story. I asked Shaun about finding a 30-35 hp gain, something I can feel in the seat of my pants. While far more expensive, he recommends long tubes and full exhaust. We all want cheap horsepower, but this manifold isn't the answer for my car. I wish it were. Honest evaluation, Steeda.

    Good video! I appreciate that you advocate for keeping the lockouts!!!!!! When interest in this thing hit few years back, most S550 guys were locking out (most still do) and it never sit right with me.
    I have went back and forth on this intake more times than I care to admit. It offers a lot of the same advantages of the 350 intake without the price tag or the loss of torque at lower RPM. My biggest complaint and the #1 thing holding me back may sound crazy…but I want to keep my engine cover!!! I love the cover, and I like to open the hood and see a nice “5.0” writing when I pop the hood. I don’t like the look of the engine bay with just the manifold exposed. If I could somehow keep the cover I would really consider this swap. Oh well….

      I bought into the hype of swapping this 18 IM with IMRC & CMCV lockouts for my 16 GT and noticed the gains only up top which was a huge difference, like scary fast on WOT but in normal driving conditions it's BLAH/Normal! TBH I prefer my older 16 IM with my Bama tune and still running the 18IM with a PBD tune. Only reason why I don't wanna go back is because when you're buying this 18IM+PBD Tune and Installation it ran me over $1600+CAD! If Bama had supported the 18IM which they didn't at the time I would've save $400CAD on the tune itself but that wasn't the case...
