i'm in my 20s. I discovered this band approx 5 years ago. These two albums are easily my favorite of all time. Nothing can touch this really funky pop that's still highly guitar-oriented. I mean hell they're literally trading licks in the middle.
I was obsessed with this song when I was 14. I remember transcribing the lyrics, as if doing to would offer insight into this perfect piece of pop. Still a ripper.
With better promotion this could have been a HUGE hit in America. Smart lyrics, huge hooks and good production for its time. Far edgier than Crowded House.
This was such a smooth and epic sound. And so effortless. It felt like everything I loved about ENZ. Creativity mixed with musicality and performance. Damn kiwi rock was *good* back then.
I've just discovered this and being a massive split enz fan this is amazing and with Phil and Nigel Griggs and Noel Crombie it definitely has that quirky Phil Judd style also love his Loki hairstyle in the video as well
Oh so cool!! First heard this back in 1989. Only just thought of looking for it on youtube as I hadn't heard it since. Never for a second forgot it or how much Ioved. Thanks so much for posting. Great quality too!
one thing i never really understood about phil judd was that he quit the enz. whether it was psych issues or stage fright, etc, then he creates schnell fenster where he is the frontman, with former enz members, why not just stay in split enz? he was getting plenty of material on the first two albums, so i dont think it was completely tim finn's fault. either way, im totally thankful for everything the enz put out, CH, SF, and all the various members solo works. i just wish judd would rejoin the enz and they could all do a proper farewell tour since they are all still alive. i've given up hope on genesis with phil's spine being pixie dust at the moment, and peter gabriel always being conveniently too busy for the rest of the band...
I bought this album when it came out - a classic! Ashamed to say that I forgot about it all these years and suddenly tonight I had an itch that could only be scratched by Schnell Fenster :)
Saw them in 88 in Christchurch NZ at the Mackenzie hotel in Aranui.... Brilliant 🎉🎉🎉
Grossly under appreciated band.....power pop at it's best. Both their albums are brilliant. Phil Judd is a musical genius.
Great song
Heard this only once on the radio when it came out. I can even recall where I was at the time. Remembered it ever since. Thx Phil for sharing this!

Great song and as usual another awesome clip ❤ Phil being amazing as usual
Great pop saw them live twice. If they reformed I’d be there.
cheers for 30 years of Schnell Fenster
I know this was '88 but it's on my Soundtrack Of The Nineties. More hooks than your old man's fishing tackle box.
Falco genérico ❤😊

Love it! Thanks for posting Phil!
This makes me smile. A lot. Thank you, Phil.
Still brilliant stuff. All things Enz burn as brightly as when they first ignited.
Released in Australia in 1988, PRCD 3232-2 USA in 1990 through Atlantic Records
This is Phantastic
Fab stuff, nothing like Split Enz/Phil Judd related music, always fun and catchy with a bit of a twisted art bent to it.
