Kids in care ‘easy victims’ for crime gangs - BBC Newsnight

- Local authorities are unwittingly becoming "recruiting sergeants" for drugs gangs, by sending thousands of children in care in England to live outside their home area, a report finds.

The All Party Parliamentary Group for Missing Children says 6 in every 10 children in care homes are sent to live away from their own local area. It says these placements escalate the risk of children being exploited and has called on the government to "slash the number" of sent-away children.
The government said it was gathering evidence "to better understand" how out-of-area placements were used.
The report follows Newsnight’s special series of reports - Britain’s Hidden Children’s Homes - on the unregulated accommodation being used to house older children, aged 16 plus.
Our UK editor Katie Razzall went to North Wales to hear from someone running one of these homes.

I'm 57 i used to live in a children's home aged 7 and left 1981 best years of my life I had no problems whilst I lived there other children's we all got along even the staff we were treated like a big family I'm still homesick after all them years 😢

Things have changed in every way....
I'm 21 been in care for 9 years all they do is move you I've been in 17 flats over a 3 year period my first flat was 16 skipped the whole semi independent
Those children are usually ( not all) unlawfully removing from parents, trafficked by LA/SS for profit. Care business
Children in care need freedom from abusive adults. Pilot programs have shown that independent housing with support to access education, employment & any emotional support the child chooses & has complete control over, has the best prospect of creating capable, responsible, happy adults. Independence & power is what young adults who have been abused by child protection workers & parents need- and that's all young adults in the care system.
Keep controlling & abusing kids & they will keep being caught up in crime or exploitation. They deserve a break.

my daughter has been moved to a care home, young kids they are , and albeit it is in her best interest as she is away from the parent who ha bullied intimidated and mimicked her her whole child hood the more cynical matter here is that the local authorities, who are orchestrating and now paying for this placement are quire happy to make allegations about the care provider, which they are paying for, knowing that they are not able to defend themself in court, professional to professional gaslighting at its finest
