Don't you just love watching Dean Brown attack his guitar? Every second, you wonder if he's going to spontaneously combust...
Sensational. It is such a joy to hear wonderful musicians play!
Almost forgot it's a Bop Jazz Standard u guys were so funky !!!
Amazing studio band... Lovely Dean Brown playing!
These musicians make this amazing music appear effortless and yet to get to that level of playing is anything but effortless. Thanks for this, to the musicians and the uploader.
Absolute masterpiece of musical interaction. They were all flying.
This is bat crazy - I love you guys !
I absolutely love this group.
When I lived in Tallahassee I used to go to a cafe every friday at 6 with my friend and listen to music like this over drinks.
You guys take me back to good times.
Thank you.
Jeez this is sooo good. Frank Briggs is phenomenal
One of my fave Studio Jams. Dean is just a joy to listen to, and watch.
Absolutely fantastic jam. These guys really have it down. Top score
Man, this was one of my favorite shows when it was on Bet Jazz. Thanks so much for posting these previously unreleased episodes. The entire premise of the show is just fantastic. I can't understand why it was taken off of the air. Good stuff. I guess it would be a logistical nightmare to try to release this on dvd.
The funkiest version I've never heard of this standard!!
The always wonderful Briggs on the skins #805

Funk-tastic, groovy baby
Are you right handed or left handed?
Jimmy Haslip: Yes.
Nice
does anyone know the guitarists Wah pedal? great sound in the beginning
I'm obviously just guessing here, but it might be a Morley wah.
Just to nod to. We've never actually been formally introduced.
It sounds like he's using an auto-wah or envelope filter to me.
@@SRHMusic012 agree
FUCKING GROOOOOOOOOOOOOVY
I thought he was Eric Johnson in the beginning...
thought i read "Ohio", you know that song by CSNY. Would be pretty epic if you did a cover on that one as well.
(My band does Ohio... people love that tune. I think we all forgot about it for a while! We're not jazzers, though, classic rock & blues...)
0:44 dream mode on xD
Holy heck is that the dude from yellowjackets
tis Jimmy indeed!
HI Frank, is this a 5X14 Ludwig Supraphonic snare drum? It sounds amazing!
Yes! and Yes!
I tot i was d ony one who rest my thumb on the pickup
Anyone know what make Haslip's bass is? Great tone on this.
That's a Roscoe. Amazing bass.
OK thanks MB. Maybe in my next life . . .
The bass player is Jimmy Haslip. He is left handed
what key is this version in? i cant figure it out for some reason maybe its the intro.
Intro is in D minor the head is in the original Bb major
can Anyone explain what the drummer is doing at 6:25?
It's just continuous triplets, it's just so tastefully, and nicely divided across various drums. It's the touch and the excellent timing that makes it sound so sweet, but the roll itself is pretty common.
Listen to the beginning of 'Makes No Difference' live, by Pat Travers, and you'll hear the same general roll, but harder and a little simpler. Kicks ass.
I am playing 32nd note combinations of RLRLFF/ RLFF /FFRL. Not triplets, but I understand the confusion. Thank you so much. :)
I want some of whatever funk steroids that guitarist was on in the beginning
hallucinatory
Nicest Bass ever , u would swear it's a Double / Upright Bass man !!!
Anyone thought it's Eric Johnson on the thumbnail
yes :-)
philippe saisse is french?
Oui
What's wrong with his bass position ? Is it normal ?
"Normal" ? No, he plays with the strings "upside down" (as Hendrix did with his guitar. A few bass players tend to choose that way, for reasons I don't fully understand (the late Wayman Tisdale for exemple), but it works for them.
Thibault Delattre
Oh I see. Like Jimi used to play. It's weird but interesting. Thanks ! :)
Thibault Delattre Hendrix played an upside down guitar but the strings were still highest pitch string towards feet.
Thibault Delattre He also probably learned to play like that because he's a leftie and right handed basses are more common, so he just flipped it over and built from there.
contactkeithstack
More than probably lol
For goodness sake's Dean, get a haircut !!!
