    This is good advice for the loudmouth , testosterone filled guys. In my experience most of these situations can be diffused. The dangerous guys don't talk and yell , they attack.From the side or in back or with a weapon. Only extreme situational awareness and a capability to keep fighting after being hit first will give you a chance .

    Been in that situation a few times in my life. The first one I defused it and calmed the guy down, (his wife and I worked at the same company, his wife told him I was hitting on her, which I wasn't) I went in to where his wives parents were staying, I was buying something off them, he was there came out screaming, "F, F, F, F mother Fer, F, F, F, F" I calmed him down. The second one I was approached by two illegals in a Denver Wal-Mart parking lot, they were screaming about how they were going to "kill whitey," sent the first one to the hospital, the second one backed down... purpose of this post, pick and choose your fights.

      Thanks J. B.J. for your comment and for sharing this post. You touched on many great self-defense points. It's awesome to see that you used verbal defense tactics to escape a potentially dangerous fight. It's also awesome to see that you are prepared and ready in case of a personal attack. Take care.

    I WISH MORE PEOPLE HAD YOUR ATTITUDE, ESPECIALLY MARTIAL ARTIST! For the street it's more completed than a game of chest and only last up to fifteen seconds. If it was me...... I would use a distraction technique, example: If he's ready to fight you like yell ,"DON'T HIT HIM!" and look to his side. I guarantee he would look behind himself thinking another person is behind him and you could attack or run when he turns around. Or fake having a heart-attack he may help you than you could attack. ( I'm not recommending you doing that just to fight) but if you feel threatened buy some time, then to go preemptive when you get the chance.

    From a legal standpoint with witnesses around, don't you have to wait for the aggressor to touch or swing at you before you can put them down?

      Great question. That can be a grey zone. We share more info about the legalities of self defense in our webinar: www.codereddefense.com/webinar

    What about the legality of striking first? If you feel your life is in danger, can you legally?

    • @codereddefense

      Great question Chuck. If you feel your life is in danger, you need to protect yourself or else who will? But there are some grey areas. Here's a related video on the topic of the legalities of self defense: ua-cam.com/video/GS5sX0rhyz0/v-deo.html

    good advice only part I would add is about the legality of this. make sure to let people know that what you teach is solely based on the most effective form of self defense but could get people in legal trouble if you hit first. I know you worked as a bouncer in Canada and I'm not sure how their laws differ from the US, but where I live you could get into trouble if you hit first.

      I know what you talk about. I'm italian, and here you get legal troubles if you hit first while your attacker just "talk" to you aggressively; you can get troubles even if he touches you, but you hit back with fury (for example, he just lays an hand on you or just hold your arm and you strike with KO strikes multiple times), because it can be a disproportionate use of force. It depends on situations, though, but i also think it's basically the same, or similar, almost everywhere in the West and civilized countries.

    • @fujimi715
      @fujimi715 7 років тому +1

      PsicheViolata yea in the US you are supposed to respond with an equal level of force that the attacker is using against you. but does depend on situation and the state as well. not sure how Italy is but in US each state can have different laws and some are surprisingly different

      fujimi715 Here in argentina is the same you have to respond with proportionate use of force. If you hit first later you have to run..

    1:52 I would've just elbowed the attacker with the lead hand and got out
