This latest batch of the Japanese usuals looks to be entering a handsome phase after the cheap, bulbous phase of the late 2010’s until now. The interior design language is much more refined and qualitative.
Yes, the new alloy wheel is a welcome. The currently one looks so so...Give this Altima SR AWD the turbo model then the rest of the Accord, Hyundai, Toyota a runs for their money for sure.

Altima seats are way better. steering is a lot better. and overall feel. Teat drove both. And In the Honda, you have to worry about the Turbo cost in the long run.
I'm sure it will be fine. Well I have a 2020 Altima SR NOT the turbo. So far NO ONE has outrun me. I have a commute on mountain roads for 57 miles one way daily with a couple of grades, fairly steep very curvy about half of it. I have outrun BMW's, Mercedes, Accords, other Nissan models, Dodge Rams, Ford F-450's (go figure) Subaru's and wimpy Mazdas, Kias-you name it, out-cornered them all as well. The trucks and SUV's I get they can't corner well, but the other sporty cars.... whatever. It's very very all too common for slow cars to speed up to stay in front even though the line of cars behind them "hint" they just might be able to go faster. Road scourges. I do have a good radar detector. So just today- a Honda (not sure which but it looked sporty and had some multicolored lights) was in front of me. We were cruising at about 75-80 most of the little bit of freeway we have (6 miles) no tailgating, when they pulled to the right lane... slowed down. I passed them. They picked up speed, then slow to pull up alongside me for a few seconds then suddenly took off. I realized they wanted to race. Maybe test their new car. I floored it, put in the sport mode button (didn't even need the tab shifters) and ripped right past them.... left them in the dust. AND for some odd reason as the freeway ended and I was stuck behind a slower line of cars -- they stayed way behind and held up another line of cars. So- whatever model that Honda was.... one more bites the dust lol
Wow, what a beautiful looking car, and with great equipment a 4 cylinder turbo with 4WD. Much better looking than everything else in its segment too. The moderate pricing and all these features should make it a great seller. I hope the CVT holds up as they are known to the problem with Nissan vehicles. The 240 HP/270 lbft tells me the engine is severely limited in boost, and that those who wish to turn the wick up will easily achieve in excess of 300 HP with no difficulty. The CC rating was not mentioned, and I wish I knew more about the variable compression of the turbo too.
A lot of your torque can be worked out with transmission manipulation when "racing" I once beat a crotch rocket from a stop light with a Harley Heritage Softail because of clutchwork. Were they surprised lol So was my husband haha.

I like the information given, but if you like Honda buy Honda, if you like Nissan but Nissan, if you like Audi...etc companies have different philosophy of designers which gives consumers choices. So many reviewers say things like...it's not like.... that should be a good thing. It's ok some reviewers don't like things on a vehicle be reviewed, but the target market is customers that are new drivers, older, middle aged, tall, short, fat to skinny, rich to poor, car enthusiast to just a means from point a to be, etc. We need more objective review from all reviewers and to stop coping notes. Just like your wife enjoys being with you and not with another man for pleasure, that's how myself and millions of customers feel about our Honda products.
I want Nissan to do two things; 1. Become independent company like it once was, 2. GIT RID OF THOSE CVTS.. then I'll trade my Camry in for that Altima. Nissan was my favorite Japanese brand car in the 90s and it still is. I owned Nissan Stanza and I loved that car. Joe that cvt sounds terrible, and I hope Renault goes out of business for ruining this wonderful brand.
I’d say the Mazda 6 or the Camry at the best in the class. Accord is also very nice. The Altima is ehhhhh in my opinion. The interior is a little basic and that CVT really concerns me. I’d say this is a good rental car.
Just want to say that I had a 2017 Nissan Altima SR Midnight Black and the transmission went out at 60k. Got lucky and traded it in for a 2020 accord 2.0t sport. I currently have it on a stage 2 tune with downpipe, intake, and charge pipe making 310hp and 360tq. I can literally walk chargers and challengers now. Forget the nissan altima as long as it has that trash CVT. Not to mention the Accord has the Type R motor in it as well which is a bullet aluminum block and heads. 10 speed automatic with 2 sets of planetary gears and its a beast and super smooth.
Nice review, but I’m not sure why the Legacy and Camry AWD direct competitors didn’t rate a mention. I like the styling with the clamshell hood and nice lines, the engine makes very impressive power/liter (almost 125) and everyone has nice things to say about the seats. From there though there aren’t many other positives and it doesn’t seem like a great value mid 30s. If I needed AWD I’d lean towards the admittedly boring Legacy which abandons sporty pretense for more quiet and luxury. If I didn’t need awd, I’d probably be looking at a v6 or hybrid Camry.
Don’t get me wrong..... it’s a nice exterior but the accord over all is a nicer car in my opinion. I know I might be bias since I have an accord but it was because it was a great choice
This video review, and others like it, enticed me to give this car a try since I was in the market for a midsize sedan. You know how you sometimes see pictures of a prospective date, think she's sort of hot, and you go to meet her? And when she shows up, you go, "uh oh"? This is what happened with the Altima for me. The SR looked decent from the outside, not fabulous, but okay. When I stepped inside the cabin, it was pretty underwhelming. It had all the toys and features you see in the videos. But my first impression of the fit and finish was, "hm..a little cheap". Then, I drove it around. Made some turns, put it on the highway and pushed it a bit. When I got back to the dealer, the salesperson asked me, "what did you think?" I told him honestly, this feels like a low end rental car that you can manage to live with for a few days or a week, but you don't want to own it and marry it. The ride quality was subpar, the acceleration was unspectacular, and the overall experience of driving it was, well, uninspiring. Not the car for me. I test drove a Honda Accord SV very recently, which cost maybe $1,000 more, and the Accord felt at least $10,000 better.
I’ve been driving Altima for awhile and as bad as I want one I’m just gonna wait for the redesign had a 2019 Altima and it was totaled so I’ll wait for the redesign
Altima sales are in a nosedive only two years into the current generation. I'd be surprised if there were a redesign, a refresh is more likely. Nissan will probably replace it with an electric crossover.
Exterior looks fantastic, but you can see that they cut down costs in the interior quality: no automatic climate control, cheap looking plastic on the dash. But in terms of driver assistance/safety features, Nissan made great leaps. Poor CVT reliability from the previous gen Altima, so I wonder how this generation will fan out over the next few years
One More thing, I own a few Honda/Acura products currently including the 2020 Accord 2.0T and will be getting more products soon, but I love good cars and always liked the Altima I had a 2004 SE-R on a trip that normally takes 71/2 hrs and did it in 4hrs 23 minutes in 2005... while I don't drive like that most times anymore, I feel I could do it in around 3.5 hrs with my 2020 Accord 2.0... mainly because cars improved , but also the confidence from driving dynamics of the Accord...
This grill is better than recent grills but I really been disliking how a majority of car companies putting these GIANT grills on all their cars. Guess I gotta wait another 3 years for a new car.
They should have added LED tail lights for the 2019 redesign...Idk why they didn't for the new Altima and the new Sentra..It makes no sense to have an all LED front end, but incandescent rear end.
I love mine it’s a 2019 I have the Orange one none turbo interior is the best I ever had in a car handles like it’s on rails. I have looked at other cars in it’s class and for the price Nissan sr is the way to go amazing car. I will warn you it gets boring to drive. But I like MT cars but overall nice car!
At this time got to say yes the Altima is little better. @@henryf6539 2008 coupe. With the 3.5 litre engine. It's been a fantastic little car no major problems whatsoever. Just the regular maintenance like brakes, oil changes, tires and windshield wipers.
How are you Joe? CVT Zonk of the day.
For those whom "Zonk" CVT, they haven't driving on lately. CVT give good gas mileage and work great. I own a 2015 Accord with CVT and I'm happy with it. Also, own a Subaru Impreza with CVT and it's find as well. No longer I can feel the jerkiness of a traditional automatic.
Idk why but the cvt has grown on me😂. And according to Nissan, this new generation CVT is tuned better and is more reliable than previous ones. But we'll still have to wait for a few years till we get some responses from owners.
At this point Hostess needs to sponsor your reviews! You always make them fun and informational. Thanks.
I have 2020 accord sport... and love it. Thinking of getting rid of my truck for a sedan , so thanks for all this videos, trying to compare all options.
Nice to have choices for sure!
Using my favorite childhood snack as a method for showing size? Raiti, congratulations, you just earned a sub!
Thanks Nick for your awesome support and joining the Raiti's Rides family!
I own the 2019 SR Orange. I like the way it runs very smooth. Spacious .
Do you experience strong wind noise?
Not at all. Inside is quiet. The only thing I dislike is that the rear doesn’t have vents. Only on the floor area
@@thembp4sho I do sometimes. On my SR vc turbo. That's prob this redesign Altima's are way on the floor. Also the wheel vibrates sometimes. I feel like I'm about to die. Geezus I've thrown 33k for nun.
The Shiny Orange color on the Altimas are nice. I have shiny black looks means
I have the 2020 Nissan Altima SL AWD. Loving it so far. I did try the KIA K5 but Altima was a winner for me. Stinger required me to dish out more cash, so from all perspective, it was hard to not go for Altima.
You have any problems with the cvt ? Looking at a few 2020 altimas right now so just curious .....
@@kevinmorse3738 No.
If you don’t drive hard like most young drivers u will not have no trouble with your CVT
I got a lifetime warranty on my transmission and engine so I’m chillin lol. It’s a 2019
Same lol
Hey Joe... I didn't think the All Wheel Drive could be paired with the Turbo 2.0. From what I've read, you can only get the AWD with the base 2.5 NA motor.
This will be my dream car!! Great job Joe.
Dream big man!
Absolutely love how you review the avg consumer cars. Loving the channel
It’s really awesome to see how fast the Raiti’s rides channel is growing. 450k here we come!
“Most people will be happy with 8” but there are those that want more”. Hahahaha
Yeah, I caught that, too! 😄
Just got one for my 17-year-old. $26,000 out the door 2021 Loaded. Reading all the comments here is funny. The Honda has CVT also guys. Can't see paying $6000 for the Honda with the same setup. Altima seats are way better. steering is a lot better. and overall feel. Teat drove both. And In the Honda, you have to worry about the Turbo cost in the long run.
Thanks for sharing that great input from your experience!
Got mine on Sunday, loving it.....not as much HP as my 2015 malibu ltz turbo had but it has acceptable power and rides really nice
I'm at 63,000 on my 2019 sentra, no issues with my cvt. Can't even hear it running. Regular maintenance, bought it with 6 milies.
Thanks again to you and your wife and team. You obviously have driven all these cars and can give insight, but just we are all different example male or female, 3'11" adults to 7'3" etc so are vehicles...no such thing as perfect car for everyone like in any area of lives.
Not gonna cap it looks nice!🔥
Yeah but lets see the performance if is good
@@farisadam6646 yes lol
I’d say the Mazda 6 or the Camry at the best in the class. Accord is also very nice. The Altima is ehhhhh in my opinion. The interior is a little basic and that CVT really concerns me. I’d say this is a good rental car.
Yeah
Love this guys reviews on vehicles
Thanks Joseph for letting me bring it to you.
I always appreciate your videos. Got a chill vibe, very informational, and not too biased. Thank you always!
I’m gonna lose my marbles if he ever gets sponsored by Twinkies 😂😂😂😂
Underrated comment 😂😂
😆😆
I like this conservative and tasteful design. Would be a lot more compelling with a manual option.
Don’t get me wrong..... it’s a nice exterior but the accord over all is a nicer car in my opinion. I know I might be bias since I have an accord but it was because it was a great choice
Hell no the accord 2.0t is a beast!!!!
Tried both meh. I go fast as shit in this Altima.
Nissan is trying very hard to stay in the game. I hope it's not too late 👍
No its not starting see more new Nissan's now than before.
Altima tried to be a challenger in that category. Loving the twinkies. Queen of the camera, you are wonderful.
I personally have a problem with all Nissan sedans... they almost all look the same from the side
I do like the front it’s very distinctive
The only thing about the Altima that isnt good is in the event of a rear end crash, it is NOT going to protect you. Good looking car tho
That is a very good point Michael!
19 infiniti Q50S has given me no problems after 2 and a half years.
That is awesome!
Well, to be fair, that’s still a brand new car
Thanks for sharing that great input & feedback!
@@travelseatsyellowlab Lol no, Nissan would be stupid to do that
Since you spent some time with one, what was your experience with the cvt? Was it terrible or smooth?
@@jeffghant4760 never had a problem with it
@@jeffghant4760 I have a 2018 only problem I have is it's not fast hahaha
I heard you reading of the little cheat sheet you had about the horsepower and MPG .. lol
Love your vids Joe! ON THROTTLE !! Ohh yea!!
Exterior looks fantastic, but you can see that they cut down costs in the interior quality: no automatic climate control, cheap looking plastic on the dash. But in terms of driver assistance/safety features, Nissan made great leaps. Poor CVT reliability from the previous gen Altima, so I wonder how this generation will fan out over the next few years
Nissan has always been a better driving vehicle than Toyota or Honda, on most vehicles. Even with the cvt the Altima would out preform the accord.
Thanks for sharing that input.
Your on crack 😂
I prefer the Honda, but this is a great review joe!! Thank you!! - and all wheel drive is pretty awesome!!
Thanks for letting me share it with you!
My dream car is the 2021 Honda Accord Sport 2.0T trim but I recently just fell in love with the Altima’s which is a better car???
At the 13 minute mark, when you were in the back seat, you should mention that you can actually access the trunk from the back seat.
does that dash say.. 180😳 I just had the 19’ altima.. looking for a new one now, and i like the food references 😂
Joe is a type of a guy who calls California a secret location
LMAO!
Nice review... I'm having the new Nissan Almera turbo 1.0. The body is same with the Altima but I will say the Altima interior is more awesome
Not gonna lie, I was expecting to see a shit ton of twinkies when he opened the trunk lol.
It's still got to get a refresh where they will add rear LED tail lights
They should have added LED tail lights for the 2019 redesign...Idk why they didn't for the new Altima and the new Sentra..It makes no sense to have an all LED front end, but incandescent rear end.
I love mine it’s a 2019 I have the Orange one none turbo interior is the best I ever had in a car handles like it’s on rails. I have looked at other cars in it’s class and for the price Nissan sr is the way to go amazing car. I will warn you it gets boring to drive. But I like MT cars but overall nice car!
At this time got to say yes the Altima is little better. Honda is having quality issues reason saying because seems Nissan CVTs are pretty good haven't read any complaints which always looking for with issues. Both cars are real nice don't get me wrong as much of huge Nissan fan the Kia and Hyundai midsize cars have made go with them although would get a Altima think needs few more get it up there with both Sonata and K5.
My first car was a ‘10 Altima coupe. Wish they made fun cars with manuals /:
I hate wind noise subaru had a major problem with that with 2015/2017 outbacks
I literally turned down a 2022 glc 300 2019 x3 and so many more cars for this car. Its so smooth its under rated asf.
I gave a lyft ride to a Nissan customer who's 2021 altima had a transmission failure... These cars are a gamble, especially with such a short warranty.
That is so terrible.
The only thing Nissan needs to do is go back to an automatic Transmission, and they’d be set up for success.
I would also buy a shirt that said "turbocharged goodness" on it! IDK why but that is hilarious. Great job as always, Lori. ;)
He honestly make the best car review videos! But the "Jokes" make it hard to watch 🤣 less jokes more reviews
The Twinkie parts be killing me. ! 😂😂😂
