It would be awesome if Mark and David would make peace and celebrate with an album with just the two of them, picking acoustic guitars and playing all the songs that inspired them to become musicians!!!
they made peace back in the days
but i dont think that they ever will perform toghether again
Yep, It will never happen
I think I've got a better chance of collaborating with Mark.
Still on my wishlist :)

Always interesting to see a bit more of the man behind the music!
Beautiful playing and singing David.
He does a wonderful Bob Dylan! ❤️
Beautiful David. Loved when you and Harry visited Australia. Hope to see you both back here one day. Caught both shows one at Cronulla and the other at Thirroul. Hope you're well.
I love the way you talk, the singing and the guitar. David you're amazing!
I like David 's voice with a guitar the sounds feels more organized to my ears. Lovely ❤️ l believe Leslie taught at Geneseo at one time. Small world l have lived in upstate western New York State for most of my life Home ❤
Thank you Mr. Knopfler for sharing with us your emotions and fragments of your life.
God bless us all 🤗👏👏👏
I discovered your work maybe 20 years ago and I'm amazed ever since! Love Dire Straits, love Mark, love you David! Take care old champ!
So much talent. Shout out to Leslie too for her fantastic artwork. Please both of you stay safe during this pandemic crisis.
After years Off in the shadow of David k ... dire straits left
Really enjoying the videos David, thank you and I hope your having a brilliant day!
Back in 1985, I had this mix tape with great songs. I used to listen to it every day, after school. I didn't know the titles or the artists (my english was not good then), but I promised myself I would have them back someday. Well, after 36 years, I found the last song (and the hardest to find, since I barely remembered the lyrics) of that mix tape. It was Mr. David Knopfler's and damn, that feels so good!
Intrigued to know which song it was?
@@DavidKnopflerReal It was Shockwave, the special mix. I know sometimes artists are not happy with their earliest songs, but damn... this is a great song, very energetic and powerful. The kind of songs you need to hear when you're down.
That's really amazing how the beginning of that song reminds of Mark's Get lucky
Musically, Mark and David are very similar. Even their voices have similar timbre.
@@luisalonsoecheverria ...NO matter how distant these two brothers seem to appear...they do KNOPFLER each other, if you can see what I mean?? It all seems to be a matter of GENES, don't you think?? ALL the best...regards...me...
That’s a great video. There is (to me & other people when I made them sit and listen carefully) something very distinctive about your sound. I heard it clearly at the start of, then at the end when you were playing your own song.
Lovely David
You both have the trademark Knopfler thumb!
Very nice. Ah yes, singing an octave higher in one's younger days. I remember that.
Jericho was a great song....you sang all your albums in that song.....which I thought was very clever.....👍🇬🇧🤓
An undeniably beautiful song.
Thank you David KNOPFLER ! 🎶
I do love your music my friend... great work indeed.
Sounds great !!!
Cheers mate......👍🇬🇧🤓
Sounds great
Byrmo como su hermamo mark.knopfler ❤
Hi David very nice playing! I like your song true north a lot. Do you know Steve Wariner? He did a very nice version of don't think twice it's all right, together with Tommy Emmanuel, I wonder if you know him.
Hello from Italy
Belle guitare !
I love the song called One Time. Could you please sing it? Thank you.
I'd need to research whether I've ever sung it for one of my Patreon podcasts
👍
ciao david
Why is it exactly is the reason David and mark are not getting on with each other?times getting on,everyone is getting older, and as the saying goes..”it’s all water under the bridge”It would be fantastic if you both could make up..🙏🙏🎶🎶😎😎🇬🇧🇬🇧
streets of london song

I always admired David K's guitaring on the first two DS albums, but after the initial euphoria of being successful wore off I reckon DK must have found it hard to live in MK's shadow. I get the impression MK was very demanding
20 solo albums on and a raft of sold out tours might suggest otherwise
@@MrDavidKnopfler Hello David, yes, that's something to be proud of. You went your own way and made a go of it. My remarks were based on after watching, some years ago, the 1980 BBC 'Arena ' documentary ( which actually seemed to be a French production).
As a north-easterner a few years older, my only similarity guitar-wise to DS, is that I too had bought a red, Hofner V3 Strat look-alike, which I still have in its Selmer case. For some years my daily tool is a US Tele.
I'd love to ask you a question about a DS conundrum I and many others seem to have.
As a songwriter there was never any room for David inside DS.
Is he as good as Mark at guitar
I'm not even close Buddy :)
U looked pretty damm good in the alchemy sultans of swing vid. Did u and Mark teach each other
...and I still do ask both myself and the REST of the ENTIRE planet the same EVERRETURNING question "WHY did Mark ditch his own brother?? Again...WHY??" It was SO unnecessary!! AWFULLY done by Mark, don't you think?? ALL the best!! Regards...Jacob Hansen, former STRAITS FAN...
I really don't know what you mean Jacob. I chose to leave and it was 42 years ago - Time to move on don't you think? I'm happily making my 23rd solo album
@@DavidKnopflerReal Dear David!! What I meant was that your brother did NOT seem to treat you very well, did he?? He did not include your contributions in the making of albums, though you HAD some songs of your own, which probably could have been noticed by the audience! Or...is it possible that I have got something wrong here?? Anyway, MANY thanks for your answer to my message :) In advance, a pleasant yuletide for you and your family!! Regards, Jacob Hansen...
@@jacobhansen6450 We'd all handle things better with 40 plus years of life experience - It was a very high pressured time and I don't think it's productive to point fingers
