Thank you for posting this, first off glad everyone's ok! I fly with one of y best friends and I'm always getting close to his wing wanting to touch it..... this proves that there is just no reason for it and now I'll leave it alone and just enjoy the company with a little room to spare!

Thank you for sharing! For all those saying that "I never do such stupid mistakes", just remember that we all say that until we do something similar and then we wonder "what was I thinking?". Happened to me without any bad consequences (luckily those times), I saw people with huge experience making beginner errors that got them hurt. So a video like this should remember us all to avoid complacency. I am glad that everybody is ok!

wrecked my wing... the audacity! 🤣 glad you guys fine! that could have been SO much worse. oh by the way i saw a kite flying nearby! these things are such traps for us pilots. if you fly in the line it will slice you or your wing like butter. super dangerous cause you cant see the lines while flying
I’m glad that it’s back home and repaired properly! Yeah, I saw those people kitting. They asked if it was OK to keep cutting while I takeoff! I told him as long as you don’t hit me 😂 Who would’ve known that I would’ve done the kite hitting of the other glider…

VERY nice repair job. i am shocked how well that turned out and i am happy the wing is up again. hope all saltwater didnt hurt it more? from all the terrible outcomes, this was for sure one of the better ones. imagine you guys are higher and he would end up in a spiral or something. it sucks and we all learn from it. cheers dan!

Man if you are going screw around like that over water you should consider wearing a PFD. In the fixed wing world any prop strike is going result in an engine tear down and inspection of the prop.

Yes, we can certainly learn from this - don't be a dick. A totally avoidable event, with a bad attitude to aviation safety, that could have been so much more serious. Safety is no accident, you have to work at it and don't be a dick.
I appreciate the posting of this longer length video to provide more context than the Facebook post, but I think it just confirms everyone's earlier comments. I understand in retrospect you know the danger you put that pilot in, but . . damn. The moving water, the lack of altitude, the earlier video warnings of his sudden elevation changes, the (apparent) lack of verbal communication in flight so you could agree/alert to the close fly-over? All of this is simply inexcusable. Furthermore, the attention paid to the wing damage at the end of the video as opposed to being focused ONLY on the colossal errors and cavalier attitude that caused the accident? It seems as if the gravity of the event still hasn't resonated with you appropriately. This all should serve as a warning to all pilots to be careful WHO they fly with. Being reckless with your own flying is one thing, but putting other pilots in danger is simply inexcusable.
@@richardrickards to be quite honest with you. It was just over $600 repair. It was actually not that bad of a hit! I had to send it out, of course, but I didn’t hurt anything on the Paramotor!

@@Catpanl i’ve been flying for over three years now. I have over 300 hours of Flying! I’ve flown all types of gliders As Bs and C wings. The lesson here is you don’t ever fly over a glider fully.. it’s one thing to do a tip touch and another thing if you’re flying behind that you can only basically touch their trailing edge of their wing. If so, just so the Paramotor is well behind you and there glider. But all around you stay away from other pilots. To fly safe. There’s nothing like flying Paramotor’s! It’s life-changing for me every single time! I am assuming that you fly?
@@flyingdanwitha29sedan Thats not really the lesson to learn here. Flying over gliders and wing walks are not crazy dangerous or advanced when done right. Before you do anything like that you've gotta communicate. 3 years experience is that sweet spot where you've been flying long enough that you to have confidence in your ability but not long enough to know how to safely do everything. Always make sure you communicate with the other pilots involved in any acro or showcase maneuvers. Glad you guys are ok! That could have been really gnarly! Looked like a bad ass and fun flight leading up to it.

I would never fly with this guy. The worst thing a PPG pilot can do. Fly above and in front of another pilot.

I agree. Take whatever personal risks you like, but it's so utterly unacceptable to impose those risks on your mate.
Remember the incident when Dell Shanze landed atop his friends’ glider and caused it to spiral down onto the ice. He flys everyday also 😂
